Fall Feels Like Winter....

This past weekend my daughter Liz and her husband Matt had a campout for his birthday. family and friends bring tents or camper and stay the night for a campfire cookout, games and fun.  I never go to it for long...too cold for me. This weekend was super cold , We had a mixture of everything. Plus wind gust of about 50 miles and hour. Some places south of here still do not have power. From the limbs falling on the lines and tearing them down.
This is Liz's son Brock , he had a birthday last week also. You can see the fire behind him.
Here are my twin daughters Liz and Karen... They are close and would do anything for each other. I am so thankful for that.
While everyone was camping, I had a quiet day and half to myself.  I could not go outside for the crazy wind. But I caught this squirrel looking for hickory nuts.
Here he is playing peek -a-boo once he saw me watching him.
Saturday, the wind was still blowing hard but the sun came out and it was pretty at the end of the day.  Seeing some fall colors here and there.
I just had to show you this picture...look at Layla helping her daddy (Brock) blow out the candles on his birthday cake.  She said she wanted her Daddy to have birthday party. LOL.
Daughter Karen and her daughter Savannah make up a bunch of Halloween pumpkins for the outside decorations.
 Savannah did this spooky one.
Karen did this cat  faced one.
Then this Jack-o-lantern. There beside her scarecrows in the front yard.  Karen roasted some of the pumpkin seeds. I remember my girls doing that when they were youngsters.  It was a cold weekend, but all had fun.
Maybe not Kathy, as she is still packing for her move later this month. She's going into a much smaller space and had to purge...stuff for Goodwill and absolutely stuff for the trash dumpster.
Daughter Angie and her husband had just returned home from a week in Florida. Now that fall break is over for all schools in this area, it's back to work till Thanksgiving.  Do you feel the time is on fast forward?
  Stay well all.. XO

    1. Saimi, It seems that October just got here and now it is already on it's way out. I did lots of housework while I had that quiet time...wrote letters and cards to family. I do not sleep well on the normal days but the times that Ted is gone is even worse. So I watched a lot of TV this weeknd and there's nothing on all those channels. LOL. Blessings to you sweet girl, xoxo, Susie

  6. Hi Susie,
We had those winds too. It made it feel even colder. What a fun time that your daughter and SIL have all their friends come for a tent and camp out and have the bonfire. I am going to share this with my daughter and SIL. They have a fire pit and have friends over in the summer so this might be fun to have a tent party. Have a great week.
    Hugs,

    1. Kris, If I ever camp out it would be in summer. LOL. Liz and Matt love it and their friends seem to enjoy the food. Matt also makes a big breakfast for those that want to eat before packing up to leave. Ted said it was an enjoyable time and the food was great. I am sissy..haha. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. I bet they had so much fun! You all are fortunate to have a big family who love to get together. And everything tastes better eaten outside, doesn't it? But staying home and warm sounds very good to me too, Susie. Even some alone time--just as long as it's not too extended.

It sounds like cold weather might be there to stay where you live. I think we've definitely cooled down and we had our first cold frost this morning but not a hard freeze as yet.

  10. OH, YES, Susie...the older we get, the faster time flies...I am trying to get ahead for Thanksgiving..have a couple cakes in the freezer and some cookies..Then, in early Dec, I am having a Christmas party for my Bunco group...should be about 15 or so here and I can hardly wait. I have a tree for my living room that I've had for years but wanted one for my dining room, too. My gosh...trees are sooo expensive now..so I hit the thrift shops today. Found one in the box..7 ft. lighted (and we tested the lights, they all work) for $25.00. I was sooo happy. I am going to give it a coat of flocking and it's gonna be so pretty for my party. I am excited.

  25. Susie- The joke in our family used to be that mom's (me) idea of camping was to pull a Winnebago into a Holiday Inn. LOL We kind of camped when we lived on a boat for three summers several years ago and I loved that...but -we were minus mosquitoes and couldn't have fires, of course.

Love all the pumpkin carving. I bet that cat one is really cute all lit up.

Hope you are having a great week, Susie- xo Diana

  27. Brrrrrr. That is too cold for camping, especially with the winds. The campfire looks inviting though. And I wouldn't want to stand outside and cook either. So glad I am past the camping, although it would be nice to be out in the woods and sleep in a cozy sleeping bag and wake up to somebody else doing the cooking. As cold as it has gotten he best get on the ball! I think it’s too cold for camping too Susie! We lost out on spring and fall this year. Seems like all we have is winter and summer anymore.
