Apples, Butters , And Pumpkins....

We went to the orchard last year and I am wanting to go back today. We drove by a couple times this year and honestly I didn't see many apples on the trees. These photos are from last year.
All these yummy butters and honey, sure look good. I have had apple  and pumpkin butters. Never any cherry butter. That might be worth trying once.
I do not need any more pumpkins.I love seeing piles of gourds and pumpkins.Nothing sadder than seeing a pumpkin lying out in the snow at winter. I think I will take the seeds out of the ones I have. Then I can chop the rest up for the compost pile. Until then they are decorations for autumn. Dinner is in the crock pot and I am almost ready for running into town. xo

Your images are yummy, and a reflection of perfect Autumn country charm.

    Safe travels to town, Susie.

  2. It was not a good year for local apples here. Orchards are "importing" apples from other states.

I LOVE both apple butter and pumpkin butter!

    Have a good Tuesday!

  5. I roll my pumpkins into the woods for the deer. It is funny watching them get smaller and smaller.
I bought local apples at the grocery today and they were so small. I should have gone to the orchard but maybe they would be small as well.

  6. Like Debby I crack our pumpkins and put them up on our burn pile for the deer. Some years we grow pumpkins up there because of it.

  8. I never thought of composting pumpkins but it is a great way to use them after the holidays. Feeding them to the deer, like some of the commenters said, sounds like a good idea too. I might have to give that a try with the herd that hangs around here in the winter.
