Sunday At Chapel....

This is the chapel at the Sister's of St. Joseph Academy.  The grounds that are being sold , along with the buildings.
This dove seemed at peace sitting on the statue of  Mary.
This house is on the grounds, and people could stay there when visiting the academy or during functions there.
This little grotto with a statue of Jesus with a lamb. Behind is a peaceful labyrinth.
Another of the many statues on the grounds.
This is the Catholic church in town . The house next door is the home of the priest. Right across the street from the church is the grade school. It seems our Catholic members are not as plentiful as years before. I have no idea why. We still have the same families that were catholic when I was a kid, in our area. I am not catholic, but I pray that all these wonderful buildings and grounds come to good use  when sold.
Today is a beautiful sunny day....I am loving it. It is not to be very warm, maybe 57 degrees. Hope your day is  full of love of family. XO

  1. That is so sad, Susie. In a little town South of us the closed 5 churches in two little towns and funneled them all into one church. It is really sad and a sign of our times that people don't attend church like they used to when we were young.

I hope that they can put yours to some good use. xo Diana

  8. I find it sad that these beautiful buildings will be sold and probably knocked down in the name of progress. We should be preserving these wonderful old, iconic buildings don't you think?

    1. Joanne, I totally agree. Even if just part of an old building is good it could be incorporated into a new one. xoxo,Susie

  9. Susie,
The chapel grounds are so peaceful and lovely. That's a shame that the grounds are being sold. The little grotto is so special. And I love that picture of the bird just sitting on Mary. I know it feels a sense of peace. I am Catholic, Susie, and I love to see other churches from different areas, so thanks for sharing this today.

    love,

  11. Just found your blog through Jane's and am now following. Always sad when a catholic church is closed - so much history and good works to the community lost forever.

    1. Hi Vickie, Our church isn't closing...the grade school has and the Academy with the chapel is up for sale with all the buildings, gym, grounds keeper's house, the nursing home that was made from the academy rooms , maintainance buildings, a home where visitors could stay. It is sad. I loved all our catholic things in our town. So it makes me sad. I am hoping they will put all the statues in the little cemetery. Thank you for following. xoxo,Susie
