Yesterday's Snow & Clean Up.....

Here it is raining with the snow just starting into the mix. This was at 12:30 Sunday.
Now the snow is big flakes  and it's 1:10 ...getting much colder too.
This is at 1:30..starting to stick and cover.  Time to think about  when to go out and start clearing. You know the snow sticks to the places you have to walk or drive first. LOL .
Here it is 4:00 or so, I have cleared the drive and walkways. Part of our porch is cover and part is not..so I always clean it too. I can usually sweep it off the porch. Here is the good news  we ended up with about 1 1/2 inches of snow. It truly missed us. The forecast had called for 3 to 5 inches. So I am thankful. Honestly we need to keep the east coast in our thoughts and prayers. It is not looking good for them. Scary actually.
Yesterday was a gloomy day, got dark early. I ended up making beef stew, instead of soup. When Ted returned home , he had a nice big dish of it for his dinner. Today at this time, the sun is out and I am loving that.  We need to go to the store for a couple things , so we may eat lunch out . Enjoy your day. XO

  1. Glad to hear that your snow didn't amount to much. I do feel sorry for those on the east coast, but it does get tiring that the national news is always/only concerned about what happens on the east coast - and of course the weather seems to always be their major concern these days. Anything else happening in the world, whether thousands are slaughtered in other countries or terrorists executing hostages, takes a back seat to the weather in the USA. Sorry, that wasn't meant to be a rant, just an observation. Enjoy your day, Susie. :-)

    1. The sun is still shining and I am loving it. It is helping things to melt a bit.. Ted is filling up the wood box by the back door. That makes keeping the fireplace going an easier job. You made me laugh about the wind. Love you girl, Susie

  4. You have a pretty place. I can't imagine having to shovel snow. I live in the south and we don't get it often and when we do I try to stay out of it.

  7. Susie, this post made my heart sing to see your snow come around hour by hour. You know, I love my new home, but it's smaller so it doesn't have a big porch at all. So when I see pictures of your porch, I admire it so much. You must love that big front porch of yours! Thank you for showing us a bit of your area often, I really enjoy it. And beef stew......Yummy.

    Have a good week, Susie.

    1. Sheri, We had a small over hang style of porch...so we made it into a deck like porch 12x 21....so much is in the sun.. Thankfully the pine trees and a big hickory nut tree gives us shade, most of the day. The sun is shining today and I am loving it. Hope you are having a fun day. xoxo,Susie

  8. So glad you didn't get what they were calling for! We got nothing but rain, so that's ok with me. The east coast is not the place to be this winter. Prayers for all in the path of these storms.
Hope you get to eat out!

  9. Hi Susie,
I was glad to see we did not get as much snow as they thought too. Just enough to cover all the dead and dirt spots to look pretty. I do feel for the people out in the North East praying they do well with all the snow headed for them. Glad you had a good Sunday. Enjoy the week ahead.

    1. Thank you Kris. I worry about the waves being up to 20 feet tall on the coast...now that can do damage. Seems one place will just get on it's feet then it gets hit again. We have had crazy weather. Stay safe. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. June, That is strange, I thought you lived near ski resorts.:) Well then you would need snow. We have had about 4 snows and I am ready for spring. Ha. Susan Branch said on her blog today, that Joe took the shovel into the pantry to have it if they need it...they lived at Martha's Vinyard.....So they are going to get plenty of snow and winter weather. God be them on the east coast. Take care, xoxo,Susie

  12. Yesterday was a snowy chili kind of day here. We do go out and it was slippery when we came home. I would guess we got 4 inches. We never really got the rain just snow. It's pretty cold here but the sun is out. Yes, I worry about those on the East Coast......mostly for power outages. Take care.

  13. While I am sorry for the dreaded snow storm about to overtake so many - just a sprinkling here would be nice. None so far this year and it doesn't look like we will be having any!! It is springtime in Texas today with 70 degree temps and blue skies and allergies!!
Stew just GOES with cold winter weather!!!!

  15. I'm watching the news here in CA and the East Coast in so in for a blizzard. We did have a refreshing rain today, and that was welcomed as we need it so badly.

    1. Wanda, It was good for Ca. to get rain...we just don't want you to get too much at one time. That is scary to me. I just think that it would be awful to have to shovel your roof...I could not rest with 2 feet of snow on my roof. It gets heavy. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  16. Good Morning, We have been lucky so far and enjoyed the weather getting into the 50's yesterday. I keep praying for those on the East Coast that it won't be as bad as they say it will be. Mother Nature hasn't cared what area she has hit this past year nor starting into this year. We may get some snow this weekend. Have a great day and stay warm. 19. The east coast of GA is still dry. There was a small percentage of snow in the forecast yesterday and today. It looked like it may several times, but the sun came out. I personally would love some snow. NOT ice! After last years ice storm, I never want to see ice again. Our county was declared a state of emergency. NEVER! I have never been so afraid and cold in my life.

  20. I will begun my dig out shortly after I finish my walk around blogger. We got about 24 inches of snow around my way. All is well though. Yeah it's a big mess. It's won't be the last time we get snow. If you live here you get snow. It is New England after all.
