Lilacs.....

This is the lilac bush that I got the starts from my mom's yard when she passed away. It has some nice buds on it already.  It has bloomed the past two years. I planted the little stick starts  in 2006.
We had a frost last night, glad it wasn't a super heavy one. Went out this morning to see the partial eclipse of the moon.   I can never get good photos when it's too dark.  That is when I knew it had frosted, the steps were a bit slick. I always use the hand rail because of this possibility.
Our lawn is greening nicely. I am just not feeling as well as I want to be. I'll have to wait till next week to rake the beds and fences.
I am going to Liz's tomorrow. I will get to be with my family. I will get to see my granddaughter Emma and also great granddaughter Layla.(new baby in our family). Hope all of you can be with loved ones.  Wishing you a great day today and a better day tomorrow. XO

  1. Happy Easter!!! I am soooooooo jealous of your lilac, ours were hit hard by the winter of 2013/2014 and didn't look good last year. It's too early to tell how they will be this year. Have fun with the little baby....gotta love 'em.

  2. I love the fact you have lilac's from your Mom. Oh how I wish I had a start of my Mom's. I have a white one and have been wanting a old fashioned purple. Bought one last year at HD end of year really cheap, never got it planted BUT it has buds all over it, so it lived! HAPPY EASTER. Hope you feel better soon

    1. Ann, You may be able to plant that lilac now and fertilize it..I hope it takes for you. My mom had 3 lavender lilacs in the front yard and one white in the back. The people that bought her house tore all the front ones out...so I am so happy to have a couple bushes here from those starts. If I would move from here, I would take them with me. LOL. Blessings for a great Easter Sunday, xoxo,Susie

Enjoy your time with everyone tomorrow. Oh how I cannot wait to see my lilacs bloom. Love the soft fragrance I will have with the windows open this late Spring and summer. Enjoy the week end.

    1. Kris, When I lived in town, on Saturday mornings , I would open the window on the west side of my dining room to smell the breezes blowing the fragrance of the neighbor's lilacs into our house. I would sit with a cup of coffee in a corner chair. It was heaven to me. My girls would be sleeping , as I enjoyed that part of the day. Just having them sleeping safe in their beds and to sit in my home with a cup of coffee....that was a blessing...I miss those good old day. xoxo,Susie
p.s. hope your Easter is wonderful.

  7. Susie, looks like you are going to have a lovely crop of lilacs. How wonderful that they came from your Mom. We transplanted ours when we moved from Santa Cruz and everyone said that you couldn't do that, but we did and they are always so pretty..So glad you get to spend time with the grandkids. We are going to have dinner with ours and then a dash back home. Will be a quick day but a fun one. Happy Easter wishes to you and your family..Judy

    1. Judy, If I ever move from here...which, I hope to move back into town one day, I am taking these lilacs with me. I have 50 years of memories with them. Not that they have been here that long...but they were some of the first flowers we ever had in our yard growing up. Mommy loved them so much. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. B.B. Isn't it funny how some scents can take us back in time. I think lilacs can di that. I am amazed all of you in Boston aren't having some high water problems. Today is awesome , chilly but oh so pretty. Next rain every day. bummer. Blessings you and your loved ones this Easter, xoxo,Susie
