Catalpa Tree....

Our catalpa tree is in bloom.  The catalpa tree is the last to get it's leaves in the spring. Then along the end of May to the first week of June, it gets it's blossoms.  They are very pretty. I really have never noticed any fragrance to them.
Then when they fall off they look like it's snowing. To me the blooms resemble popcorn on the ground.  I know that Claudia at Mockingbird Hill has a tree like this, so now I think of her at this time. Hope she is enjoying her tree also.
Today I did not make it to the yard sales. If I am feeling better even before this afternoon, I may still just go looking.  Hope all of you are well and having a beautiful Saturday.  XO

  1. I don't think I've seen this tree before. It does look like either snow or popcorn on the ground. I'm sorry you did not feel well this a.m. Maybe you just need the rest today. I had a day of rest yesterday and feel much better today. Take care, friend. xoxo

    1. Noreen, Sorry if the flowers looked blue, they are actually white with some yellow inside. This tree will have bean pods later and they stay on till after winter. I missed the sales, but did move around some . Hope your day is great, xoxo,Susie

    1. Hi Joy, Some of these trees get a big worm on them that used to catch fish. We don't have them, thank goodness. LOL It's a pretty tree once it leafs out. When I first saw it, I thought oh that tree is dead and will need to come out...surprise. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Gert, We have some lovely trees all leafed out...but they all have trash to drop. Funny, I used to think it would be so nice to have big tall mature trees...never knowing of the stuff that comes off each one. LOL. Blessings for a great day, xoxo,Susie

  6. Hello Susie and thank you for stopping by my blog : )
It does indeed look like snow has fallen with this tree's flowers .. very pretty!
We have a Pacific Sunset Maple that has gone nuts with flowers and now "keys" dropping by the thousands .. what a mess but then it is doing what it is supposed to do ..can't blame the tree ! haha
Hope you are feeling better and were able to get out.
    Joy : )

    1. Oh yes, I learned that quickly out here...mature trees have tons of droppings. The hickory will drop good leaves to keep from feeding them to stay alive. Clever nasty tree. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  7. Susie, this tree is so pretty and green. I don't see the white flowers on it though, I am wondering if it is ready to blossom? Yes, the flowers on the ground DO look like snow! I've never heard of this tree before, it's soooo pretty.

  8. I need to go out and look at ours! It is behind our storage building and between our fence and the neighbors. Indians used to make beads out of the berries. We made some back in our homeschooling days!
