Horton's French Flea Market .....

This weekend was the Horton's French Flea Market.  I did not get to go yesterday.  My son in law's father passed away and the funeral was yesterday.  This is the third funeral we have been to in two months.  Doug was in so much pain in the end...he is no longer suffering. He will absolutely be missed.
Today My daughter , Kathy, came and picked me up to go to town.

It was almost way too hot to even be outside and we were early.  Did not get to see everything, but certainly tried my best.
This was a cute tent , but I did not go in.
This was inside the store...so funny and cute. A little planter truck made of tin.
Just look at this ivy plant in the motor compartment.   LOL  The flags of France flying too.
Jars and vases of fresh cut flowers. Not easy to carry these around....so it's like something you get on the way out.
Lots of flags that looked aged. Tea towels and napkins .
This area looked like laundry time.
Small pots of lavender. Only $ 1. 99...… I meant to buy a couple...but did not make it back.
I liked this old whiskey barrel . The sunflowers in it was so pretty with the potato vine and other small flowers. I thought it looked pretty for fall.  Believe me, it was hot...way too hot for some areas.
 We left Horton's and I bought nothing..Nothing!!
Kathy and I got a cold drink at DQ and then came home. This heat is ruining my fun!!! LOL
Stay cool , all of you. XO

    1. Laurie, Mr. Horton told me today he had many come tell him, this was their first time there and they loved it. He was dead heading flowers in the green house. He works all the time. I did see his wife, but she was too busy to talk. ..I never bother those that look busy. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Karen, I am ready for a cool down...but it does not look as if that will be happening any time soon. Our yard is fried.:( Hoping for rain soon. Horton's was fun, just wish it had not been so dreadfully hot. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. I am sorry to hear about your losses lately, Susie. Seems like the older we get, the more funerals we go to.
Looks like a fun day out, but I'm with you, the heat can ruin things fast. Hopefully they have another one in the fall!

    1. Thank you Pilar. My SIL will miss his father greatly. He's been helping his mom with their appointments and car repairs. Pilar, it was so hot my daughter didn't want to go back thru Horton's after we put her purchase in the car. I think we will have a cool down this coming week. But the 4-H fair is going to be over by then. WE had many things happening at once. Blessings, stay cool, xoxo, Susie

  6. Hi,
I love the idea of the lavender. Very fun and gives me an idea for my market.
I too feel like this is the hottest summer I can remember! 100 degrees here today! And the humidity never seems to go away.

    1. Carla, I hope we all get a cool down soon. Yes, selling little potted lavender would be very nice. I think pots of herbs would be fun too. Some people like them but just don't grow them. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Jeanie, The only bad part was the heat. I usually can tolerate hot...but outside on pavement makes it even hotter. We just didn't last very long . I do love seeing all the new things they bring into the store. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. I'm sorry to read about your son-in-law's father. It's very sad, but good his suffering is over. We've been to two funerals recently and I just found out about another death, so sad. Also one of my old classmates died. I never have any luck growing lavender. What a fun place to look around today, but it does seem too hot to do much of anything. It will be over 100 every day for the next week! I love that whiskey barrel with the sunflowers.

    1. Sorry for your loses Nonnie. It is sad, even though we know there's no more suffering. I love the sunflowers too. I would have loved to cooled down then went back thru, but my daughter had more plans with friends. We all need a break in this heat. Our cool down is coming this week. I mean in the 80's not the 90's. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  9. Sorry about another loss Susie. So sad that your SIL father passed. I missed Horton's this time. I always love that market. SO many cute vendors and then how cute Horton's always is too. I would have loved to have met up with you. Maybe next time. So many things going on all at one time it seems this summer for me.

  10. Sometimes that happens. I hope it was worth your time and energy. At times it is for me and then at times I wish I had just skipped it!
Funerals are sad - usually. I think the ones who do a celebration memorial type thing are a bit cheerier. Louis Dean and I are of the age where we are deciding what and how we want to do things when it's our time.
I love your Horton's!!!! I follow them on Facebook!

    1. Linda, I had a comment reply ready and it went to the heavens...LOL I am glad you are rested from the ranch and hope returning home is not stressful. We all cried and all laughed at my SIL's dad's funeral. A friend said they went fishing and were stopped by the police on their way back to camp, don't know why. The cop asked Doug , "what is your name?" Doug said ," It's Douglas McArthur Smith." The cop says, Don't get smart with me buddy." The truth is, that actually was Doug's full name.
I hope to go back to Horton's when it's cooler out. Glad you can follow them on Facebook. Take care and stay cool. Blessings, xoxo, love you, Susie

We just were not real hungry...I think it mostly had to do with her time limit till she meet up with her BFF to go look at condos. Fun anyways. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

  15. Oh Susie, I can comment today, but most of the time I can't, so I'm going to take this opportunity while I can hahaha. I'm so sorry about all the people in your life who passed away recently. Going to funerals of loved ones is very emotional. Horton's looks wonderful this Summer. The blue tent caught my eye. Did you buy anything? My sister would have liked the table with the vintage aged look items. How nice that you went to Dairy Queen after with Kathy. I have been wanting to go there for a chocolate dipped cone cause it's summer time, but the Dairy Queen is in the next town over.

Stay cool in the summer heat, Susie. It gets in the 100's here.

    love, ~Sheri

    1. Yikes Sheri, I do not like anything higher than 75 degrees...LOL. I laugh when people say, "it's a dry heat" cause hot is hot dry or humid. I did not buy anything at Horton's this time. But I want to go back there and just look again. You must want a cone from DQ because it makes you think of fun times in summer. Hope you get one soon. Blessings to you, love, xoxo, Susie

Oh we have had to stay in way more than we normally would thru summer. Not getting done all the things we dreamt about. the shed is still half painted..at least it is the two sides seen from the road. LOL. Blessings to you sweet friend, love, xoxo, Susie
