Some Rain....

Of the four days that rain was predicted for our area...we never had any. Then it rained Wednesday.
Stormed in the night. You can see the grass is greening again . Here's more of the tulip poplar leaves on the ground .Just a hint of autumn.
It did clear up here and there, but by evening it was raining again.
Karen , my daughter, was putting up corn after she worked her job, yesterday. She also delivered corn to her twin sister (Liz)  and to Susan, that used be her children's day care giver before they went to school.
For being kind , she was blessed in return. Susan  , made her some strawberry jam.  Karen was certainly happy about that.  Susan really is like an extra grandmother to Karen's children. She remembers them on holidays and their birthdays. Such a sweet lady.
Then Karen sends me this picture of herself, frying chicken...just like my mother used to do it...hot and fast.  My siblings and I would tease mom about setting off the smoke alarm from her chicken frying. LOL. It's a wonder she didn't burn the house down. :):)
I just had to show our sweet Layla preparing for a tea party. She is wearing her Gigi's night gown.  She asked Lizzy if she could please wear it. Liz told her it was a night gown, but Layla said it looked like a beautiful dress...so Liz let her wear it for her tea party.  I love how children think. :):)
Hope all of you have a great weekend. Please be safe.  XO

  1. That's a nice bunch of corn! Believe it or not, I've never fried chicken before. Was that dipped in anything before frying? -Jenn

  2. Jenn, My mother would dip the chicken into beaten eggs and then into seasoned flour. I think Karen barely coats her chicken if at all. I usually roast ours. LOL. My mom had few things she could really fix well. Fried chicken, potato salad, peach cobbler and corn bread. LOL. Too many pots of bean soup and fried potatoes growing up. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    2. I haven't started burning them yet! I have to do a Fall candle haul post for both Yankee Candle and Bath & Body Works. Once I finish up those posts and pictures I'll probably burn a few candles :)

    1. Diane, When Karen sent me the picture of that frying chicken..I said , "I'll be right over." LOL I wish my girls and I lived closer so we could have suppers together at times. I do go to Angie's for brunch on Sundays. Layla just makes me smile...because I can see somethings that make me think of when my four girls were her age. I miss those times. Blessings for a great weekend, xoxo, Susie

    1. Hi Honey, I have thought of you often. I roast my chicken most times too. I use to fry it when I was young. Not now, don't like making messes to clean up. I love one pan or pot meals. Just throw meat and veggies together and roast. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Doris, I have prayed for your area. I know the flooding is dangerous in places. I wish the rain go be where it's needed. But in moderation. I love corn on the cob, but never get to eat it like that. I always fear about my teeth.I am still having the sensitivity. IT taste good even cut off the cob. :) Blessings to you and yours, be safe. xoxo, Susie

    1. Marilyn, Karen is my one daughter who loves to garden ...bigger than containers. She acyually bought the corn and shared it ,because she got such a good bargain. She is a generous child. She told, Mom I felt so loved when Susan gave me that jam.:):) I know she was thankful. I will have to attend one of Layla's tea parties. She's such a chatterbox. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

    1. Kathy, I use to fry chicken, but no more, I would rather roast it. It is work to fry...all that clean up. Plus who needs all that fat. LOL. Layla just makes me smile...with her little girl talking and thinking. So precious. Karen sent me pictures today of more tomatoes and cucumbers out of her garden. :) Gosh I would love some ripe tomatoes right now. LOL. Blessings to you honey, xoxo, Susie
