This Weekend.....

On Friday, My daughter Angie's 5th graders celebrated Veteran's Day.  This is the 21 st year Angie has held this for local vets. I am amazed it's been that long. The children sang patriotic songs and put on a skit for the vets.  They have for the past three years been raising money to send veterans to Washington D.C. , so they can visit the memorials in their honor.  This project is called Honor Flights. Two of our local vets came to the celebration on Friday and thanked the kids for helping them to go on the trip to D.C.  Angie also thanked her class and said , "even young people can do good things for others."   Ted and I were at the heart clinic and did not get to attend the program.
Saturday looked like this...clear , but cold.  It was a beautiful sky.
Also a wonderful sunset. Just a bit of purple in the sky color.
Do any of you remember my granddaughter Emma....the one I called Emma Pooh?  Look at this little beauty, all dolled up for a school dance . This is her "date" for the dance...as she is only 14 1/2 years old...too young to really date. My daughter drove them to the dance and picked them up...both too young to drive. Thank goodness.  No wonder she doesn't come over and do crafts with old nana any more.   LOL  I could cry but won't let myself for fear I would never be able to stop.
Just a couple more days till Ted gets his heart cath. I seem to be holding my breath. I am getting a cold now and pray he doesn't catch it. He will not be getting the cath if he does.  Thank you all for your kind words and prayers...you certainly are special. XO

    1. Thank you so much Diane. I think you understand how I feel about my youngest granddaughter growing so quickly now. I surely miss my Emma. Yesterday two of my daughter were here and it felt so good to have them here , I told them I was never letting them leave again. LOL. But after a nice visit and we got Kathy's laundry finished they returned to their own homes. I miss those old days of fun with them all. Hope all is well . I will let you know more about Ted when I find out. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. The Veteran's program is a wonderful tribute to our heroes. Emma is beautiful. Our little girls seem to grow up fast. My 9 year old granddaughter still likes to visit occasionally but the others have outgrown 'nana' :( I have been through a heart cath for my son. I will keep you both in prayer.

  3. That is an awkward age for kids to start dating because nobody can drive. That's why a lot of these girls try to date creepy college guys.

    1. Ewweee….no way that is going to happen...her parents really check things. I am thankful for that. Hey if kids can go to dances, or come over for pizza once in awhile...that's good enough. LOL They don't get alone time. I think all kids need jobs too. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

I know what you mean about the grands growing up way too fast. Boo! They ARE so lovely, though. Maybe Emma Pooh will decide crafts are fun again. We did, right?

  6. Stay away from Ted as much as possible! That is just the sweetest thing the kids are doing for the vets. My friend got to attend the honor flight with her dad who is a WWII vet. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Your granddaughter certainly did grow up into a beauty and I understand your feelings. Our Kate is only 10, but I can see that ahead for her and so it's a little scary. It is freezing cold and windy here, plus damp. Take good care of your hubby. Saying a prayer for him and you. Xoxo

    1. Nonnie, I am not getting close to Ted for fear he will get my cold. I have washed my hand and wiped things down...unending. Because our Emma seems to have grown up in so many ways..it made me enjoy seeing your little granddaughter all the more. When Emma was ten she still liked coming over a little and doing crafts. I do miss those fun days. It's cold here also. The temps are about 20 degrees cooler than normal for this time. Blessings, stay warm, xoxo, Susie

    1. Linda, Seeing Emma's picture was a bit of a shock for Ted and I too. Thank you for al the good prayers. Ted gets that cath this week...in the mean time, he has no energy . I am trying to sit on him and certainly not let him strain at anything. It's hard to see him like this. I have a cold and you know the one that's sick still has to cook and do things...so I keep washing my hands. I have hand sanitizers out also. Blessings to you and yours, love you, xoxo,. Susie

I keep you and your husband in my prayers, I had the same situation happen while waiting for my husbands heart procedure, I came down with a cold a worried myself sick that he would get the cold and then they couldn’t do the test, he didn’t catch it, I worried for nothing, I’m sure he will be fine,

  11. Hi Susie, tell your daughter thank you for me . . . she is doing a wonderful thing. Not just for the veteran's but also building a love of country in the children in her classes. We had a friend (he has passed)but he went on this trip and afterwards he was so proud to tell his story and show us a book of photos from his trip. It was wonderful hearing his excitement.
Grandchildren do grow up. We had our two preteens for two weeks this summer and it was so special, it won't be long before going to grandpa's and grandma's might be boring . . . I hope not.
You and your husband are in my prayers.
    God bless you both.
    Connie :)

Oh dear our youngest granddaughter is growing up. It makes me sad...that the over night stays and crafting days have past. I miss her ...I get to see her at her house but it's not the same. She always loves on us and tells she loves us. I miss the wonderful times we used to have.
Hope you are doing well. Hope you are not freezing there. We are about 20 degrees below normal. Blessings to you, Love you, xoxo, Susie

  14. Susie, what a sweet thing for your daughter and her students to do. It really warms my heart. Yes, your beautiful little granddaughter is really growing up. It all happens so fast. I missed your last post and just now read it. I'm so glad that your hubby is doing well on his meds. My SIL had a stent put in about 15 years ago. He was young when that happened. He actually had a slight heart attack but has been really good all these years. Hope it continues. His heart problems came almost exactly one year after Tami was diagnosed with breast cancer. They are both fine now and know that your hubby will be too..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

    1. Judy, I will say a prayer for your daughter and SIL...that's a big load to bear for young people. Well honestly for anyone. By ted getting the clot busters as soon as he was hooked up at the E.R. he did not have a heart attack. He was 48. I am praying they can maybe find out why he is so winded and losing his energy. The chest x-ray did not show any lung issues. Blessings to you dear friend, xoxo, Susie
