Cold Days.....

The wind and cold have really taken the leaves from the trees. I have raked about an acre of leaves into piles. Ted helped me haul them to the woods. I would rake them onto a tarp and he helped me pull them on the trailer and he drove the lawnmower to pull the trailer. Of course he wore his special mask.
The cold has moved in and seems to be hanging on. Record breaking temperatures...low ones that is.
Thank goodness there's been glorious sunsets.
Yesterday was Ted's doctor appointment at the bone marrow clinic.  He had good lab numbers. The dr was happy with his progress. He has a week of every other day of one med, then it will be done.Otherwise his meds stayed the same. The dr said he would call the dr that treated Ted with the big chemo , so Ted can get his maintenance chemo at that hospital...it will be closer, Less than half the distance to where we are going now. That will be a blessing in bad weather.
Oh my goodness, I tried my best to get Ted to reschedule his appointment.  We had icy roads in our county, scary too. But south of us they had less snow and their roads were so much better.
Thank you to all , for the good wishes, thoughts and prayers. This month it has been a year since Ted 's cancer diagnosis. Almost 7 months since his bone marrow transplant. With the good doctors, nurses and everyone's  kindnesses ,we have made it this far.  Bless you. XO

  1. Wonderful news with Ted's progress Susie ! Praying his continued good health. We had a blast of winter blow through last night, unusual low temps for the southern parts of the country. Cold today, but moving out by weekend, thankfully :)
A few months of really cold weather is about our limit in the south !
Beautiful pictures, thank you for sharing.

  2. Yep I was just thinking to myself the other day "hasn't it been round about a year since they got the cancer news?--seems like it to me"....wow, look at all y'all have been through together since then!! so much. But both of you have hung on even when it got bad, even when it got hard, even when it was just darn hard to take. I'm so proud of you both and so thankful that God hears prayers and has taken care of y'all and kept you safe. Those sun pictures are gorgeous....but oh my!!---the COLD!! i DONT TAKE IT WELL. 3. Oh it has been cold... I hope that we all get a warming trend because this is too soon for these deep January-like days.

An entire year! It has been a long haul, but oh how well Ted has done. Yes, it is with the help of nurses and doctors, but he has done the hard work and God has blessed. So glad that he can get treatments closer to home. Winter is never a good time for traveling. I was very grateful that my sister drove me home in snow and ice after my recent treatment.

    Here’s to a great week!

  4. God bless you...I pray that the closer location works out for you. Winter driving and me are not friends, at all. I just can't do it.
We don't see much of the sky here but did I ever see a beautiful sunset today on my way home! Ellen wondered if I wanted a picture...but I was driving and all I had with me was my cell phone which wouldn't capture it good enough anyway...so glad I at least saw it =)
Take care, it's been a year you will never forget!

  5. Oh my, you raked up an acre of leaves - you must have been so tired afterwards, Susie. I am wondering if it felt good for Ted to get out and do some lawn work, as it seems that he's always enjoyed this chore, and has always maintained such a nice looking lawn. The sunset with the golden colors is glorious. I'm glad to hear Ted is doing better, and I hope he's able to get his treatments closer to make things easier on you both. It sounds really cold there, Susie. Bundle up and stay warm and cozy.

    love ya,

    1. Sheri, That raking took me three days. I had to rest my arthritic feet a day in between rakings. I am an old gray mare these days. LOL. Ted felt tired but his recovery time is quicker now and that has helped him in wanting to exercise. Thank goodness. We do not go out in this cold, where you can get frost bite in a short time, unless we have too. I hvae not heard much on the news about the fires there, praying they are contained. Always stay safe sweet girl. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, love, Susie

    1. Hi Carol, Oh yes it's aeful cold , I do not like this, hope it goes soon. The news says better days starting this weekend. Hooray. The closer hospital has Ted's Cancer dr come there every Friday. They have a chemo infusion clinic too. The Cancer dr is from Saint Vincents and the Bone Marrow dr is from Franciscan. I do not think Drs. like to share. They bristle when we bring it up , yet the nurses already told us they have done this kind of set-up for many patients. Hope we get to go to Noblesville for the infusion. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Theresa, On Halloween evening we had winds with gust of 40 miles an hour. You would think that would strip all the leaves. But the next day with no wind, we watched the catalpa tree drop every leaf , honestly every one. We laughed about till I had to rake. ..then not so funny. Yes, we thank God for answered prayers and so many from good kind people. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
