What's Going On......

This is my oldest daughter, Angie. She officially retired from teaching this year. I am happy for her and so very proud of her. She loved teaching , did it for 31 years. When she told me she was retiring, it was bittersweet. I cried thinking of how we prayed for the job in our community school system. But as we talked , we knew it was time. She has good health, family, and wonderful grandchildren to enjoy.
This loving dog Madison. So smart and adorable. Belonging to granddaughter Lynzie's family,
and this good old boy Sam, belonging to granddaughter Emma,  have gone on to where all good dogs go.  I loved my granddogs.  My daughter Karen had a dog, Princess to go also. But I did not have any photos of her. Sad to think of all those pets ,gone.  I know many things have to change , but it doesn't mean I have to like it.  :(

I am still trying my best to get my life together again. I do not know if I will, just will keep trying. I keep busy . I am keeping up with most chores. Cooking is not one of them....I have gotten to the point of hating to cook.  I make things and end up taking it to my daughters at times.

Wishing all of you a great summer. Be safe. XO

    1. Thank you so much Billie. I know there will be times when my daughter will truly miss teaching. She and her husband can do trips, ballgames, and go golfing which they love. I hope your summer is a sweet one. Not too hot, would be good. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. Oh, Susie!!! It's so lovely to see you pop up this very minute, as I just posted my first effort to LAWN TEA in over three years! Kind of a twin re-birth, somehow, and we're peeking back out into the world we'd lingered from for so long.
What a joy to see you, and to anticipate our renewal together.

    1. Thank you Sandi on food ordering thoughts. I have only ordered pizza once. LOL...it took me awhile to eat it every few days till it was gone. Lunch is usually my biggest meal. I do eat lots of salads. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. Congratulations to your daughter! She taught for exactly the same amount of time as I did - thirty- one years! It’s a big adjustment ( and now I do supply teaching here and there). So nice to see a post from you! - Jenn

    1. Jenn, My daughter says she will sub for high school classes if they call. Since you taught for 31 years yourself, you know rules and children have changed so much. That makes teachers be the teacher, social worker, parent, etc, in many cases. More hours and not always with more pay. I am sure you have used your own money to help out , as Angie has done thru the years. Bless you for that, xoxo, Susie

  5. Oh Susie, was so excited to see you pop up on my sidebar. Congratulations to you daughter. What a wonderful career she had. Now time to enjoy those grandkids. If I didn't have my dearest, I would probably live on salads and avacado toast!
Love the dogs. How sad we still miss Molly. But she was with us 15 years. I hope you will blog again soon. Love hearing from you. Hugs, Wanda

    1. Hi Wanda, Yes, grands make a big part of retirement. Angie is agile enough to run and chase them too. It is sad when we have to put down pets. But the suffering is unbearable to watch. I still cry thinking of good old Sam. Hope you have a beautiful summer. Blessings to you, Don and family, xoxo, Susie

  7. Dear Suzie, It takes time and prayer, but you have a lovely family to live for and Ted would want you to enjoy every minute you have. There are still days where I just want to hide from the world, but we are still here for a reason. God knows your sorrow and He knows your difficulties. Just lean on Him, He is our answer. Remember to take it easy and don't let anyone try and rush you. We all move through our grief at a different pace.
    God bless you.

    1. Connie, You are so right about grieving. It is hard to even explain. One moment fine and the next crying. Yes, I learned from the grief dr. that if Ted was the loving man I was describing, he truly would want me to go on with life and glean joy everyday. But you know the longing of looking into their eyes and wanting one more hug. I do know that I was truly loved in my life and I thank God for that . Blessings my sweet friend, xoxo, Susie

    1. Hi Jack and Sherry, It is funny how pets win our hearts , even after chewing shoes and such. I would like for you to listen to a song by a country singer, Cody Johnson. It's call "If you got a chance , take it." Kind of tells is like it is. Hold each other close, blessings, love you guys too, Susie

    1. Hi my friend, I take drives to get out of the house and think of my sweet Ted. I do love the sunshine. I have to have curtains around this area, but in the country I did not curtain the back of our house, so I could enjoy the sun, trees and birds. I miss that too. I have thought of you and wondered how you like your new home area. You are a special lady, you helped me when my Lizzy was sick. Can you believe Emma is 19 now. YIkes, I am older than dirt. Bless you, love, xoxo, Susie

Happy retirement to your daughter! One of my cousins retired from teaching this month, after 30 years, I believe. My mother taught for 40 years!
You just keep putting one foot in front of the other, Suzie and just get through one day at a time. (((HUGS)))

    1. Thank you. Wow, your mom taught for a long time. I remember having favorite teachers through out my own schooling. I think Angie was liked my many of her pupils . That make me happy for her. Actually the AC repairman that was at her house last week was one of her first pupils. She told him she was proud of him. He was all smiles. Hope you have a wonderful flower garden this year. I know you love them. Blessings , xoxo, Susie

My daughters had a dog and cat buried at our old house , I know they will always recall those pets with love. Now we are losing more sweet pets. Makes me happy that daughter Kathy has her Buddy cat with her now. I want her to enjoy his company for many years. Blessings , xoxo, Susie

  15. Hi Susie! You just need a little cooking break. I have been watching Japanese cooking on YouTube and it makes me want to try new things. I am so sorry for the loss of the grandpups. Sad. Your daughter can sit back and be thankful now, thankful that she was able to speak into the lives of kids. Take care, sweet one xo

    1. Thank you honey. I love some Japanese dishes, but I can not cook a thing but fried rice. LOL I think of the days I would work, come home and cook a big dinner from my family. We do what we have to do, don't we. Being alone, I want some plain and easy. I wish I could write a book about what kids will tell people . I have laughed at their stories , they all want to be good. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Oh bless your sweet heart Nellie. I am still kind of shock I have a kid retiring. It will be awhile before S.S. But I retired at 57 and did okay. Yikes it seems a hundred years ago. The first thing I did when I retired ...I cried because I had no job, seemed I had worked forever. But now I know 30 years goes fast. Wishing you so many blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Thank you Kay. Yes, it seems we have less time as we age. As young mom I could get home from work , start a load of laundry and get to fixing supper for my girls. Time went quickly but with the girls at my side we talked and worked together and it seemed much fit in that time slot. Hope you are all well and enjoy some good weather , on the news it appears it is raining lots there. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

I have been busy and haven't blogged much lately but hope to get back to it soon. I did do a PickYourFavorite post today but it has been a while since I have posted regularly.
I am so glad Karen retired. She deserves it.
I miss my pets that I have lost, too, and can't imagine losing my Scruffy. He is my constant companion. xo Diana

  22. Susie! I can't tell you how happy I am to finally here to see you. I lost the url for your blog some time ago, and here I am again. Right now, I am logged into my cat's blog (I help her by typing it for her as she dictates). But this is Ramblingon.

I made a mistake about the age of the dogwood that rotted. It was about 50 some years old. Not the thirty I mentioned in the blog. But I loved that tree. So glad to see you.

  24. Hello Susie, it was nice to see that you visited today. I hope you are doing well. I remember Angie when you were blogging. Yes, our pets don't last forever. Nel has had dogs that have passed away, and it's always devastating. I hope Angie has time to relax and spend time with her grandkids after her retirement from teaching. Jess is still teaching first grade, and it's not easy to do each and every day, but we appreciate the teachers, don't we? Have a wonderful Summer, Susie, and I have missed you in blog land. : )
