No Fun In The Sun.....

The  sunshine keeps me going.  It's up lifting to see the sun shining.  But oh baby , it's cold outside. All the beautiful colors of fall have blown away. How long was our fall anyway?  LOL. I feel like I can't even remember any of it. Just seemed to have come and gone so fast . Oh well, I have to accept it's winter.  Our high of 20 degrees will help me with  that.
Just thinking of Thanksgiving.  Ten  days till then.  I remember when in school how exciting this time would feel. We would have that 4 day weekend , to celebrate. Good to see our family, friends, and neighbors.  Then when I was working...it was still lots of fun to think about. Plus time off work !!
Each year now, I miss my parents.  Any one was welcomed to their house to eat or visit. One of our old neighbors used to say, that corner where my parents lived, did not look right without 20 or more cars parked all over . Miss those days.
Wishing all of you a big warm hug today.

    1. I am going to be cleaning. Just the fires we have had makes so much dust...that is one nasty thing of wood fires. It's a warm heat....But oh I could do without it. Thanks for the warm hugs dear friend. Some for you too. :):) xoxo,Susie

  3. My husband counted the days yesterday! I had not thought to count until a week before.:-) It's up to those of us who are left to have the gatherings now, but families seem to be so spread out that it becomes a real problem. xo Nellie

    1. Nellie, Travel in Indiana can be a problem at Holidays , especially if it's snowed any amount. So I am thankful for any of us being able to gather for a meal and fellowship. Blessings, xoxoSusie

    1. Thank you for the warm hugs. You are right, it is beyond nippy outside. Our parents were the family hub, now each family of the family has a new hub. So it goes. Still one more mommy and daddy hug would be nice. In heaven. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  5. Yes, Susie, Thanksgiving is a time for family and being Thankful. I miss those days also but am blessed to have all 12 of my family with me on this day...my 3 girls, their husbands and each have 2 children. The love we have for those gone on and those with us is a bond that holds us together. Have a good day and stay warm.

  6. Good Morning Susie,
I agree where did our fall go?? I agree if the sun is out it makes these bone chilling days easier to take. This is way too early for this nonsense!!! If we are having February weather in November I dread what this winter for us will be! Stay warm my friend.

  7. I'll take the hug because I'm missing my parents too. There's still my mother in law with all the cars but nothing can take the place of my mama's hugs and dressing. Stay warm.

    1. The cars were from family and visitors at my mom's house. It looked like she needed a parking lot just for our family. But I agree. Mommy hugs can't be beat. My dad made the dressing...oh I laugh when I think of it. I'll post about that on Thanksgiving. Bless your heart, xoxo,Susie

  8. Stay warm, it's cold down here in the south, but nothing to compare with your weather.
My parents always hosted Thanksgiving and it was wonderful, lots of food, old tales being told, laughter. I miss it very much.
This year we won't even have our daughter, she's moved to Japan.

    1. Oh , that is sad to me...that your daughter won't be able to visit you through the holidays. I hope you can Skype. I miss the old tales and all the laughter from hearing those tales. Let's think of our parents on thanksgiving morning....maybe that will make us happy. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  9. The season says Fall...but the scene sings Winter. How beautiful is your image this morning, Susie!

I am 62 and still have my parents on this earth with me. I am blessed. They are very fragile, and have not been the same since my brother passed away nine years ago. The holidays are particularly difficult for them, which keeps me strong for them.

Sending you warm hugs and wishes for comfort and joy as you navigate the season.
    (Good grief...I am sounding very Hallmark, aren't I? )

  10. Hi Susie, Your landscape looks much like ours, however the snow is starting to melt.
We will have our whole family together this year, so it will be a blessing. Stay warm my friend.

They are predicting rain..I hate rain after the ground freezes...that makes floods. Where is Indian Summer. LOL. xoxox,Susie

  11. Susie,
I see pillows and plaques that say "baby it's cold outside" and it reminds me of you and where you live. I can't imagine how cold it must be. It sounds like you are missing your mom and dad. I always miss mine so much around the holidays. I remember people coming and going at my mom's house too. We surely have similar upbringings, don't we?

Happy Thanksgiving to you, my dear friend.

    love,

    1. Sheri, you are a sweetheart. It is funny how many people can have so many things in common. I am sure missing our beloved parents is shared by many. I do not think people can never stopped missing their parents. The Holidays bring back family memories. Sheri, I went to the mailbox today and as soon as I stopped to get the mail..wowwee, I thought of all the people and kids that would be out in that wind. It's bitter cold here today. We may have made 20 degrees but with the wind it felt like below zero. You know I love seeing lodges in the snowy mountains ...just don't want to live in more snow than we get here. LOL. It's not that far till Thanksgiving. Bless you, xoxo,Susie

  13. Susie, Thank you for the warm hug. We can all use those. :):) This weather we are having, was said by the weatherman to be like the middle of Jan. Now that's too cold. But just now on the weather, they are saying a warm up in a few days. Oh Boy. I am ready. It is getting close to the holidays and that makes me think of my parents more and more. It is difficult at times, I miss them so much. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope you get your meds adjusted quickly and that you start feeling like you should. Bless you dear friend, xoxo,Susie

  14. Oh, Susie, it was the same at my mama's house...we'd have 30 or more people for Thanksgiving dinner ...a lot of aunts, uncles, cousins...I miss my parents, too, Susie. You never get too old to miss those you love so much.

    1. BJ, It is hard at the holidays. I have been thinking about how hard it would be for my parents whenever it was winter. Some times their cars would not start. Some times the water pipes would freeze. Just seemed a hard life most times for them. Too many kids and not enough pay checks. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Hi Vee, I do love Thanksgiving time. It is a fun family time. But without some of the Christmas stress. I do not stress myself at Christmas. I just make the most of my time with my family. I remember going by my parents house some times...there would be a note saying there's food in the fridge or on the stove. Mom never use to lock the doors either. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Linda, There was too much drinking with my parents...but as time went on things did improve. No in reality we children had a hard knock life. Never enough of any thing. But we had each other. As our parents aged they started to appreciate that we were good kids. No angels mind you, just decent kids. I have chosen to remember the better times. :):)Praying for you and LD to be much improved. xoxo,Susie

  20. I am so lucky to still have my parents. We have been changing a lot of traditions though. We no longer go to my parents house for the holidays. I'd love to get that child-like excitement back that we had as children...getting two weeks out of school for the holidays....I remember it well.

    1. Cindy, I told my daughters they can start having the dinners at their home. I don't feel up to cooking the whole meal or even most of it. Don't have the room for such a big family now. So the daughters divide it up and take turn hosting. Plus their kids have all the toys and electronics. I am glad you still have your parents. Get all the stories and hugs you can. xoxo,Susie
