Cutting Back.....

This snowman is attached to a little tote box filled with fake greenery, pine cones and a flickering electric candle. I got this at the school craft show/concert, this year. I realized that I did not buy any new decorations other than this snowman.
I received this angel ornament form my granddaughter Lynzie. It is an angel grandmother with her hands full of gold hearts. I think it means this grandmother is blessed. That I am.  What I did this year was rework most of what I already have to do Christmas decorating. I used lots of cardinals and red plaids.....I like it , so I will used it again next year. It fits this old farm house décor.
I know many of you put things away the day after. I usually let it stay up till after new year's day.  I may actually start taking things down on Monday. Do any of you feel that the holiday came and went very fast? I enjoyed getting ready, except for the stove repair interruption. LOL.  I enjoyed viewing my decorations and the whole of our Christmas family time. Loved it all.
Wishing all of you a bit of relaxing time now. :):) XO

  2. I normally start taking things down the day after Christmas, but I've ordered some new storage bins and they won't be here till New Year's Eve, so this year I'll be undecorating on New Year's Day.

  3. I've no real "rhyme or reason" for taking down the decorations. One thing I do, though, is leave the Nativity out until Twelfth Night. All the other is put away at that point. xo Nellie

  4. I keep our decorations up until at least New Year's Day, Susie. I've never understood taking it all down right away since I feel that the Christmas season extends to the New Year. That's why I don't put any decorations up until the second week of December! Love your decorations, Susie.

I guess I like to clear things up when I have a house full over the holiday. This grandmother angel is a treasure given to you by your dear granddaughter. I like the gold hearts she is holding.

  11. For years and years, I have taken down everything after Christmas and started the new year without any thing Christmas. Not so this year.... I don't know when I will take it down. I didn't do a tree this year so it just my other decorations. Since February is a "Red" Valentine month...I may just leave my splashes of red up till then. The older I get the longer I want to hang on to holidays. Your snowman and angle are lovely.

  12. I'm with Wanda!!! I am thinking about leaving the red - as in Cardinals, plaids, ribbons, etc up through Valentine's Day. I am so very tired I cannot even THINK about taking everything down right now. We have friends coming over January 10th so it will start to come down sometime after that. Plus we are changing our storage system. Alas, my age is catching up with me and the attic is too hot and too hard for me to handle anymore. BUT I have a plan......just need to rest awhile first!
Happy New Year, Susie Q!!! (That's what Louis Dean calls you!)

  18. Susie, the little snowman is a fun new addition. And the angel is perfect! Yes, us grandmas are blessed. I had only redecorated my table, but today I decided to make a New Years mantle in the family room. Fun and easy change that will hold me over until Valentines decor comes out. lol! I usually wait until after the New year to take my Christmas decor down, but I was thinking I might start on one of the trees. I have a lot of Wintry stuff that will stay out until the end of January. Christmas did just fly by! Hopefully the cold Winter will too. Happy New Year.
