Teddy Bear Update......

Here's Ted in his bed at St. Vincents.. Smiling trying to keep his chin up. My strong brave sweetheart.
We have been laughing about the size of meals he has been ordering. The hospital handed him a menu and number to call for food. I told him, you do not eat like that, and he says, "it's so good"....I told him not to think he is putting a phone in our kitchen so he can call from his recliner. So we make jokes and laugh.  While inside I feel I am holding my breath. Praying all day long.
Beautiful "Nana" Diana and her handsome hero husband John,  came to the hospital to visit with Ted and I. They gave Ted this wonderful book to read and receive courage and hope. I loved meeting John , he is a cancer survivor, (who has been in my prayers many, many times. ) He is also a hospital Chaplain, the perfect visitor . :) Ted said he felt as if he already knew Diana from me speaking of her so often. . hahaha, we do love our blog family, don't we? He thoroughly enjoyed John's talk of how to keep going and once you are thru, working to stay healthy.
Does Diana ever go anywhere, that she isn't bearing gifts?  Such a generous hearted lady.  You know we all tease and laugh with her, she  has a great sense of humor, but she is gentle and loving.(shh, don't tell her I said that) She and John, brought this big bag of thoughtful gifts. Cheese ( they are from Wisconsin, you know), crackers, cookies, candy, puzzle books, pens, chapstick (so helpful) and a magazine to read. I can not even begin to thank these kind caring friends. I will remember that day.
One evening Ted's long time friend and golf pal Steve, came to visit . Came back a day later and brought Ted a milk shake. Ted was going back to bed when he stood by Steve for a photo.  Now we have been told no hugging , no kisses, just hand sanitized fist bumps.  That goes for me also.
Ted is doing well with his treatments, so far....we know it won't always be a day to smile. I told Ted when he gets low, to force himself to think ahead to his spring fishing trip with his son, brothers, and friends. That will cheer him.
I want to thank my children who have stepped up to help me get to and from the hospital, plus feed me. LOL.  Thank you kind wonderful blog family and friends.  All the prayers and well wishes mean so much to Ted and I. He said he was touched to know so many cared. Silly boy, he is loved. XO

  1. Susie, thank you for this update. It couldn't have been easy writing this post amidst everything you are dealing with. Diana and her husband would have been the perfect visitors! I'm thinking of you and Ted and hope that you both find enough strength and humour in each day to keep pushing through. All my best - Jenn

  2. I love you and Ted, Susie. You are such a special lady and what we have goes way beyond a 'blogging friendship". We are kindred spirits on many levels.

Guess what? On my way home we popped into Hortons and I gave Tim 2 blocks of WI cheese. (as a thank you for the fudge he gave me when I visited there). He was just thrilled and the counter girl said it had made his day and he was grinning thinking about it.

Just got your text and thinking about you. Love you lots- xo xo xo Diana

  8. I'm so glad to see this great picture of your Ted, Susie. I've been praying for him since I read Diana's post and now have this handsome face with the big smile to put in my mind while praying. I can't imagine many people able to encourage you and understand what this time is to you than Diana and her Hero. But I know you are also surrounded with loving family and friends and by His love.

And someday you and Ted will be the encourager of someone else who needs it!

Sending a hand sanitized fist bump to both of you, Dewena.

  9. Susie I have been praying for you and Ted as I can relate to what you are feeling and going through with what I went through with my other half. I kept my embroidery handy so that I had something to take my mind off things for a little bit. We have blizzard conditions and they have closed a major highway to the north of us because of it. It started as freezing rain. Diana and John are hero's for me as she was there when my John wasn't doing well with encouragement even when her John was suffering. Prayers are special. I am sending you hugs and prayers that he continues to improve and will continue to say prayers for you all. Hugs and prayers from your Missouri Friend Shirley.

  20. Thank you for the update, Susie. You and Ted have been in my prayers and will continue to be. How kind of Diana and John to stop by. And Ted's friend also. I know that must have encouraged both of you. Keep a positive attitude. When I was going through my cancer treatments, the nurses told me that being positive helped a lot.

  22. I am just now seeing this news Susie. I am PRAYING for your husband!! God is good and He is able. MORE than able!! So do not fear, trust Him. That Nana Diana is something isn't she? Seriously, she and I have never met in person, but I consider her a wonderful friend and a strong prayer warrior for me and my family. I'm so jealous (in a good way!) that you got to see her in person!!! Please now that my prayers continue, for your hubby and for you!! And remember that God is GOOD, even when we don't understand. I know He will make something good out of the trial. Sending a HUG to you sweet lady!!

  25. Dear Susie, thank you for letting us know how things are going. You and Ted are in my prayers . . . It's hard to know what to say at times like this, so praying is all that I have, but I do believe in the power of prayer. Ted has so many people sending up prayers . . . God is listening and feeling the love. You, Ted and your family are in good hands.
    God bless you all.

  27. Poor Ted, I feel so bad for what he is going through. I'm glad he is liking the meals they are serving him. What a nice gesture for Diana to bring all those goodies to you. And it's wonderful that your children have been so helpful bringing you to the hospital and preparing meals for you. I will continue to pray for Ted and you too, Susie. I have mentioned his name when I say the Rosary at night. Thinking of you, my dear friend, and may God give Ted and you and your family the strength you need during this difficult time.

    love, ~Sheri
