Where's My Flowers????

Last year my clematis looked like this. This year I have only seen a half dozen buds.
They have not bloomed yet. Keeping an eye on them.  I need to get some plant food for it I suppose. This year I am once again sticking fake flowers in the containers on and around the porch. I do have some Pachysandra growing in them, which give the pretty green color.
Ted was to have chemo this week. He had his blood work yesterday and they said one count was too low and they put the chemo off till next week.  I have a dentist appointment next week also. When it rains it pours. No breaks. It's disheartening.
I have been edging the brick walkway here. Too hot for me to do it all at once, So I am 2/3's of the way done. Slow but sure I guess. Ted did get home in time to mow yesterday before the rains came. He can mow if he wears a mask. I do not want him mowing if it's too hot though.  He enjoys it , because it's about the only work he can do. Good thing it's zero turn mower.
Hope all of you are well. Please try to stay that way. Staying healthy is our full  time job these days.  Keeping you all in my prayers. XO

  1. Laurie, I am glad to blog again. I like to know what all is happening with my blog family and I like to give up dates on how we are. It so good to pray for one another. And as you said with all that is going on in our world, we need to show kindness with prayer. Oh I did not have many lilacs either. Hoping our property will spring back . :) Take care Laurie, Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

  2. Flowers are so important to our lives aren't they. That's one reason I love our balcony. Since I can't have a yard, I will be happy with my potted plants.
Glad to see Ted is able to do some light work. Chemo and dentist in the same week. Ouch!
My dearest is getting stronger and we are taking longer walks with a little faster stride. You are loved. Stay well.

    1. Wanda, I loved reading that you and your husband are walking together. I always feel my spirits rise when I see Ted gaining some of his strength back. Even though his maintenance chemo is milder , it takes him down.
I tell everyone that if you drive by the house and the fake flowers are in the containers , they look okay. LOL My daughter sent me pics of her containers with real flowers, there a difference. LOL. Blessings to you my friend, stay safe. xoxo, love, Susie

  3. Love the pictures, hope they do twice as well this year. That is great Ted has the Zero turn, good for him (and you). Sorry to hear another set back, but proud of you guys and your stamina in such tough times. Prayers here your way.

    1. Hi Jack & Sherry, Thank you for the prayers, they mean so much. I do not mow here, because Ted hasn't taught me to use that mower. I mowed in town with a push mower,of course that was a yard , not an acre as out here.Stay safe there. Blessings to you both, xoxo, Susie

  4. Hope you get lots of blooms, dear Susie. Also hope that Ted's numbers are better. We've got summer in NYC and it's beautiful. I realize I can switch to short sleeves now. Keeping well and expect that in the next few weeks I'll start to schedule medical appointments I've delayed. Take care and hugs and prayers.

    1. Carol, I know I have delay many of my own appts. But I absolutely need the cataract surgery , hoping for the end of this month. I looked up the count that was low on Ted's labs...it's part of the white blood cells, the infection fighters, hoping it's up for next week. Glad you are enjoying the weather. Please stay safe . Blessings to you my friend, xoxo, love, Susie

  5. Your clematis is a beautiful color...maybe it's taking a break...ha! That late hard frost didn't help anything. Our Japanese maples got bitten and leaves are falling off. They were so beautiful. Woohoo, go Ted! Riding a lawn mower is actually therapeutic. My brother used to love to get out in the fields with the tractor...same sort of activity. You and Ted deserve a lifetime of breaks after all you've been through. Sending lots of hugs and prayers.

    1. Thank you Donna, I truly appreciate every prayer. I pray for all of us, we need some powerful prayers. Ted has always loved mowing too. Weed whacking not so much. LOL Now I have to do that part. Gosh, I had forgotten about the frost and freezes we had. :) That could easily be why not many blooms. Blessings to you, please stay safe. xoxo, Susie

    1. Thank you Jenn. Ted has always loved mowing. With this heat and the rain, he has to mow about every 4 days. So do the neighbors. :) I am hoping the lilies on the west side of the house are awesome, so far they are so thick and healthy looking.:) Blessings to you and your family, be safe. xoxo, Susie

It blooms one or two at a time....but I am thrilled with it because IT'S ALIVE AND IT'S BLOOMING! ha ha LOL. How's Ted feeling today? so glad you are blogging again!

  9. I am glad to hear you have an appointment even though I know the dentist is not your favorite thing. You have put off so many 'taking care of yourself' issues and understandably so. Still....I am praying you get caught up with YOUR health issues.....and you can better take care of your beloved.
Love you both! But my heart of hearts want you to be healthy and well, too.

    1. Thank you Linda. I would love to be able to get all the things done I have postponed. But it seems if I make an appt , then Ted's gets changed to that time. So I think Why bother with myself. Get Ted thru this, then I can possibly have a bit of life .But when it comes to my teeth, I am a huge chicken, can't stand the thought of dental pain or loss. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes, they mean so much to us.Hope all is well there. I think of your sisters and the grands and Summer, you and LD. I pray for all. 12. One day at a time is always a good mantra. May next week be just right for Ted to get his treatment and for you to see the dentist. Now I thought I should do some edging, but decided against it. 😊 I did do some driveway blowing and deck cleaning. Next is the power washer. Then deck painting. Maybe. We'll see. That clematis is gorgeous. I am sure that a bit of a bump in plant feed is all it needs to become prolific in blooms.

    1. Thanks Vee. I needed that pep talk. I am going to put plant food on that clematis and keep digging away at the edging. LOL Good luck with power washing and painting. My gosh Vee, It took me over a week to do our porch floor last time and rats it needs it again. I do know what stain not to get again. :( Blessings to you, stay strong and safe. xoxo, Susie

Ted's counts were low , I think he needs 5 weeks in between treatments. Gives him time to build up his strength and his counts seem better. We just keep plugging along. Hoping the next couple of months will be much better. Blessings to you and yours, stay safe, xoxo, Susie

  24. Susie, thank you so much for dropping by my blog and leaving such a sweet comment. I am so sorry your hubby is having to deal with chemo. I have been so blessed with good health for many years but in the last year it seems like one thing after another...nothing gravely serious so I'm thankful and try not to complain (except to my husband, poor guy!!) Hopefully you will get some blooms soon...our lantana has bloomed so beautifully this year. Of course, we get terrible heat here in the summer so in another month or so everything I've planted will have fried!!! Love and hugs to you and your hubby...God bless.

    1. Thank you Cheri. I hope you get better soon. I know exactly what you mean. I have tended to Ted since Nov. 2018 to now. I have had to do my normal chores, his and be nurse too. Well I just could not keep up....so many things went undone. I have decent health but put off mammo, scopings and other health checks. But this past year has taken a toll on me. I have very little strength. It took me three days to edge the walk with my shovel. Last time I stained the deck floor was over a week worth f work. I thought it was my new career. LOL Stay strong honey, you can make yourself push thru. Maybe mine isn't so much strength as it is being stubborn. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
