Staying Home...

Honestly staying in  is something Ted and I have done a lot of since he has  his cancer treatments and started this journey.  Now with Covid it's even worse. Will we ever get to leave home  again? I certainly am praying we will and that this virus will be gone. I think,we as a nation , are going to have to be smarter and work at it , and absolutely have a vaccine.
So in the mean time, we stay home and try to enjoy what we can.  Sunrises and sunsets. The birds coming to the water features and feeders.  Butterflies. and bees.  The flowers that are blooming.
The occasional porch visit from family.  We space out, Ted and I wear our masks.  Daughter Kathy is coming for a visit tomorrow.   Hopefully we can sit out a bit.
Wishing all of you well. Please be safe, wear your masks, if only for the children of this world.  Let's help them have a normal life .  XO

  1. I've been staying at home too. I can't keep hubby in, but he is diligent about hand washing and mask wearing. I worry about my 89 year old mother who has multiple health issues.
We have had small family gatherings, socially distanced, but I'm a hugger...it's tough!
Do what it takes. Stay safe!

    1. Jan, My whole family are huggers and it is rough. Especially when it come to the little kids. I have been missing so many things with the great grands. We use sanitizer in the car , then when we get in the house we wash our hands first thing. Ted drive me to the grocery, I mask up and get it done. he never goes inside the store. I wipe everything off when I get it home and then I wipe all the handles, doorknobs and facings. I smell of bleach all the time :( Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  3. Enjoy Kathy's visit! I'm masked up when I go beyond the block, even sitting out by the park. I push the thought of when I can start traveling again out of my mind. Too tough to deal with. I just tell myself, One sunny day. Take good care, my friend.

  4. Staying home! Taking it one day at a time. I think I am starting to miss going to stores and buying things I don't need. Better to be safe but I also miss friends and family. If there is anything good about all of this, it is I am finding new interests.

I do have medical journals of Ted's cancer treatments and his bone marrow transplant. I am so glad I have those. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

    1. Ted and I both can laugh at ourselves and everything on TV, even if it isn't a comedy. LOL So it's not always a sad time at home. But gosh I miss the little ones so much. I am thankful for videos and texts and letters. My sister and I write each other up to 3 times a week. She has no texting or computer. It's our therapy. :) Blessings to you and your husband, xoxo, Susie

  6. Dear sweet Susie. As I read all the previous comments, we are all in the same boat with certain variations. We are able to get out a little (close to home) wear or masks. We did attend church last week for the first time, with social distancing and masks. However, our Gov closed the churches in CA again for the 4th time, and so this Sunday, it's Church in the parking lot with lots of distance, shade, water and doughnuts. Like a Church Picnic.
I do feel your loneliness. Especially when our spouses are ill. Sending much love and hugs. Your yard and flowers are nice to see...I think I do hear the birds...

    1. Hi Wanda, Well if you hear my birds...it would have to be those noisy wrens. LOL. With Ted's issues , we are watching ourselves all the time. It's good to be outside and visit at a distance, at least. I always wipe everything down afterwards. I smell of bleach all the time. TV church is good too. I like the idea of it being in the parking lot. Some times I just miss people and life...so I cry at times. then after I do that, then I pray and feel better. Don, stay safe, love,, xoxo, Susie

I can not be around anyone with the flu for fear he will get it when his counts are low. It would be horrible. Blessings, be safe. xoxo, Susie

  10. Glad to hear that you are able to have some visits with family.

Staying home is not a hardship for me. Neither is socially distancing and wearing masks. I did all that and more when I was undergoing my own cancer treatments and my immunity was low. I did see my daughter more often, back then, as she used to visit. Now, she can't and I've no idea when I might see her in person, next. But, we "see" each other online every day and I am content with that. :)

  24. Hi Susie,

Staying home isn't really an issue for my husband and as we have always been home bodies but now more than usual. We still go out from time to time but only when necessary and that's usually if we need something I can't order online. The one thing I did miss this year was seeing my family. They usually come down every year on vacation but with cases spiking very high in my area it was best they cancelled. Doesn't make hurt less though.

On the other hand, I heard that football was starting up at the high school and they'll occasionally sanitize the ball. I can't imagine that will be effective unless they sanitize the ball every single time someone touches it. But high school sports are a huge deal in this neck of the woods.
