A Week Of Winterizing....

Ted and I have been cleaning up the yard and garden. This is a visitor in the garden. I like to see praying mantis because they eat nasty things in the garden.....but I am always afraid to get to close, for fear they will jump on me. Yes, I am a scardy cat.:):)
This is the sunset after a day of getting things ready for winter. Changing the filters on the furnace. Stacking wood, planning a new wood bin. We have had a wood bin in the basement, that's a lot of handling of the wood. This year, I want the wood just outside the back door, not in the basement. So we are in the process of making a new bin. Hope everyone can enjoy this wonderful day. xo

  1. we had a wood bin in the basement in podunk mostly because we were only there a few days in the winter and the outside stuff would have been wet but the basement wood got bugs! expensive lesson learned! then we got a gas fireplace insert which i loved. no mess and no soot and no smoke. but also no lovely smell!

  5. You've been doing a lot of work around the house getting prepared for winter. That's great, Susie. There's always so much to do, isn't there? The sunset is beautiful, and here is a secret......I'm a scardy cat of lizards.

  8. I haven't seen a single mantis this year. They are intriguing and I didn't know they would jump on ya.

  9. Isn't it a great feeling getting the house ready for winter! I am glad not to have to change out storm windows and screens like we used to, even though I loved the look of the heavy wood storm windows after they were up.

  11. Hey, good for you...I envy you getting all of this done before winter arrives!! We use to go down away from the house to get our wood, then got it piled up just outside the front door! That was great...but a couple years ago, we converted it to a gas fireplace! And we love it!! And use it lots more then the other one. Just get up and turn it on!

    Blessings,
    Gert
