The Old Pilgrims...

I can't  tell you how  old these little chalk pilgrims are. My daughters made them in grade school. :) My oldest daughter Angie has them. She put them out every year. I did not see them this year, as there was no gathering in our family. Each daughter had their own small group, four or five. Ted and I had planned on staying home.

But Ted spent his Thanksgiving in the hospital. He started feeling weak and a bit short of breath Monday.  He would not go to ER for me. So he did a couple of phone visits with our dr. The dr. ordered a covid test for Friday morning(today) plus an inhaler. Ted started to run a fever on Wednesday and I said "You are going to ER, get your shoes on. " Thank God my eyes are better. I drove him to ER. Had to stay in the parking lot. The dr calls later and says , Ted's x-ray showed pneumonia . They did a covid test told him they would let him know. So the dr says he was admitted to the hospital and they would also do a CT scan. The test for covid came yesterday, it was negative...so they do another...it came back today negative. The dr. said Ted would be coming home tomorrow.

So that was our Thanksgiving. My daughter Kathy came yesterday, and brought us food. I told her to stay awhile...so we wore masks and sat across the whole living room from one another. She left after 30 minutes, and went home. I wiped the containers of food with disinfectant. Sprayed the house, and left to take Ted's phone charger to the hospital. I was only allowed to drop it off...no visitors. I swear we are beginning to be like theses old pilgrims, a bit worn around the edges and faded. We talk on the phone, that is good.

Hoping your day went much better than ours. One more big holiday to get thru, praying everyone uses their good sense and keeps it small also. If we can get thru this winter, I think we may all have a fair chance. We'll get vaccinated. Also hoping our country will learn from all this, we are all part of this world , it isn't just about one of us, it's all of us. Stay safe and smart. XO

  2. What a fright! But what a blessing that he does not have Covid!! Normal pneumonia should be a lot easier to treat. These pilgrims are amazing, and so detailed for a grade school child to make!

  5. My goodness! What a stressful and scary Thanksgiving day! I am so glad that Ted doesn't have Covid, but, even so, pneumonia is something to be concerned about. I'm glad you insisted on taking him to ER and they admitted him. Take care of yourself, too, because we often tend to neglect ourselves when we are taking care of others. (((HUGS)))

    1. Thank you honey. Oh I know about putting myself last...I've finally gotten some of my medical things done this past 6 months that I put off for a couple years. I think Ted has realized he can't just shrug stuff off when he isn't feeling normal. Thank you for the hugs. Blessings to you, keep safe. xoxo, Susie

  6. Susie, I am so sorry that Ted had to be hospitalized. I am glad to hear that his results came back negative. Prayers for 2021 to be much kinder to us. A vaccine scares me and I doubt that I will take one anytime soon, but I am fully aware that something must be done.

    1. I know. It seems so unfair for the ones that do their best to follow some basic rules to prevent the spread of Covid. Just praying there's enough of them to help get back to .low counts. So many lost. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  9. That is good he does not have Covid and will be coming home to recover. I remember those chalk figures, I painted some horses as a preteen. How nice your Pilgrims have survived. Like us, a bit faded but still here.

  10. Oh Susie, what an awful time Ted and You had on Thanksgiving. That's a relief he doesn't have the virus. Your daughter is so thoughtful bringing you over some food. Poor Ted, he's been through so much, now pneumonia. The little pilgrims are so cute, and how special they are that your daughters made them in grade school. So sorry you didn't get to see your family for Thanksgiving, Susie. I hope Christmastime is a better time for all of you. : )

  16. Holiday's are always hard when one spouse is ill, but to spend it alone is even harder. Praying for you. I just read in my Bible...."Say to them who are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; He will come and save you." Is. 35:4 and another part of Is. "...they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away." Sooooo in other words...keep looking up better days are coming.

  20. So glad Ted didn't test positive for Covid. I'm telling you, if we can just get through this year, hopefully, the new year will start off better. Nothing seems right any more. That is such a good picture of Ted in your last post. I didn't know exactly what he had so I appreciated your posting about it. Wishing you both the best.

  21. Oh Susie, I'm so sorry your day was so grim. Grateful it is "just" pneumonia (v. Covid) but there is no "just" with pneumonia, either. I'm glad he'll be headed home and other tests good but so very scary for you all. Of course you have our thoughts and prayers.
