Struggling Flowers....

Cone flowers at the back fence. They are growing and blooming but not very fast.
This is/was a carpet rose near the cone flowers. I say was, because it's tall now. I thought a carpet rose grew close to the ground. So it may be going wild.
Lilies bloomed very well, once they started opening up. The carrot greenery beside this lily is Queen Anne's lace. Nana Diana called it a wild carrot. Jo over at "A Brit In Tenn.", calls it cow parsley. So it is a wild carrot, cow parsley, queen Anne's lace. It did flower this week. In the very center of a Queen Anne's lace is one tiny spot of red...it's the blood of the queen as she pricked her finger. Something I read somewhere.
This is the flower bed we bricked around in early spring. The pachysandra is filling in. I may be moving those grassy blue eye again, next year.  Lots of things died out because of the bad winter. Some things are much shorter than normal. While some  have grown okay, just not producing as many flowers as last year.
Hope all is  going well for  you.  We had a bit of sun and rain yesterday. More of the same today. Wishing you a good day of rest. XO

    1. Linda, Cold isn't a complaint here.LOL, but it sure was all last winter...a long winter it was too. We had about 3 years in a row of draught conditions, then that hard winter , it's all taken a toll on the plants and trees. I hope if it's cold where you are that it will warm up for you. I have been thinking of you and wondering if you were doing okay with your health issues. Blessings to you, you are in my prayers. xoxo,Susie

  3. We had winter kill too. Always sad. I wish we had Queen Anne's Lace up here. I think it's so pretty with that bit of red at the center. I'm thinking of getting rid of my roses, pretty as they have been the past week. The rest of the year they're a thorny wild bracken!

    1. I truly do not have good luck with roses. They either die or go to wild. Or things eat on them. I seem to not be good about spraying them in time. Hope you are having a good day. xoxo,Susie

  4. You have some pretty flowers, Susie. I had to water today as it skipped us raining the last 2 days.
    Enjoy your afternoon.

    1. Between me watering and the rain...I may be helping to kill my porch plants. I water for fear the rain has skipped, then we get a deluge. Go figure. :):)
I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. I may take my camera and go take picture. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  8. Susie, your Coneflowers are coming along beautifully! Mine are just starting to bloom. I have a white one also. Seems like last year most of it had returned to being pink. Darn, paid extra for white. lol! I really like your brick edging. I have a rose tree that on the tag it says, carpet rose. Wondering if it's more a variety than the actual carpet rose?
    hugs,

    1. Jann, Now you have me curious...I am going to ask around about that carpet rose.LOL. I have bought plants to be dwarf plants and they turn out to be normal sized...that's upsetting because of spacing. I wish I had all the money back from my garden failures. LOL. Hope you have a great week. xoxo,Susie

    1. I need to get more of those bricks...but I wait for a sale on them...which doesn't happen often. I have always said I would do containers if I had no yard. My MIL used to have two big pots of petunias on both ends of her steps on to the porch. That is all she grew , but loved them. I sure miss that sweet lady.xoxo,Susie

  11. This winter was hard on a lot of things Susie. We lost some shrubs. My flowers seem to have survived. I hope things perk up for you soon. Have a good week.

  12. I like your flowers. I've tried cone flowers before but they didn't last very long. I think they didn't get enough sun. Are carpet roses the same as knock-out roses? I think they be the same thing. I love those!

    1. Kelley, When I live in town and had so many cone flowers, they were really spreading out. Not out here. I think my now get too much shade. I am not sure about the carpet rose...it was small when I planted it and now this year it's about 2 1/2 foot tall. I am not good at all with roses...they need more care than I am willing to give. Sad but true. xoxo,Susie

    1. Thank you. I would not be a good desert person...I can't take the heat. I know what some people say, It's a dry heat. I am sure there a difference . I am not even puttering with my plants, too much humidity. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  14. I think your flowers are looking good, I love the flower garden. I'm losing some of my knockout roses and can't figure out the cause. I hate that! They are supposed to be hardy and resistant to diseases. Hope you have a good week!
