Budget Takes A Hit....

Yesterday was the fall follow up for the exterminator. You know when we had ants in the spring?  So the man comes and he's one  hour late(not good ) . He re-baits those mouse contraptions in the basement and sprays inside and outside for bugs, ants and spiders. creepy crawly things. To be truthful, we have not seen anything in the house since the first treatment...so caught that early.:) This is a picture of our birch tree, leaves changed and falling off.
Once the leaves were gone, you can see a big droopy robin's nest. I knew I'd heard them singing in that tree.
Ted and I went down the road to admire the neighbor's burning bushes.  This one is almost as tall as the shed.
The one in front still had some green in it.  This bushes sure add color to the autumn landscape.
Now here's a happy man. He has the golf cart back....at the cost of  915 dollars.  This is added to the 95 dollars for the bug man. Ouch...that took a nice bite of the household budget.  Six batteries, cables, nuts, bolts ,hold downs ..whatever....it adds up along with labor costs.
So we took it for a test drive. So much better. I did not worry about having to push it back to the garage. LOL
Can you see the reflective spot on the ground under the trees?? Well that is webs, webs, webs !!!! Every inch of ground around our area is covered in webs. You know there was a spider at the end of each stand. Yikes. I had my sweatshirt hood on.
This Saturday morning we had a thin frost. That means it's going to start being colder here. The next 6 days are to be sunny and in the 60's. But I love that.  We will be doing some yard work now that the cart's back  home and we can rake the leaves. Wishing all of you a fun weekend. XO

  1. Hi Susie, The burning bush is one of the prettiest I've seen! Glad Ted got his golf cart back, but "yikes" on the bill. Everything these days is about twice as much as we expect it to be! These cooler days make yard work more pleasant. Don't work too hard.

    1. Mildred, Those golf cart batteries are expensive...it took six of them. It helps us with the work. But Ted is just taking all day and I have given up. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Linda, I looked on line about the spider webs. It's called ballooning...a baby spider floats away on a silk ...it was something to do about Oklahoma winds. It blows my mind to think there could be so many the field and yards and power line are covered with them ...to me this is creepy. LOL You could use a cart at the ranch. Or one of those 3 wheeled atv's. Blessings , xoxo, Susie

    1. Jenn....you can not see these spiders. Try to look this up on line... it's scary. Little baby spider float off on a silk and there's enough to cover acres and acres....makes my hair stand on end. LOL. Girl, you are so right...just when you think your saving are building up for maybe a trip....things break down. LOL. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  5. Susie, those burning bushes must be so pretty this time of year. They are such a beautiful shade of red. This is a good picture of Ted smilin' away in his golf cart. Love that little Robin's nest too. They are one of my favorite birds of all. They never mind me taking their pictures and don't scare easily.

Susie, you are taking some wonderful picture of nature lately, and I appreciate them very much.

    love you, ~Sheri

    1. Sheri, Thank you for the compliment on my photos. I have been trying to get out these nice days. I may even sweep the porch 3-4 times a day....cause the leaves blow on it. We did get all the leaves raked and hauled away for now...there's more in the maple and sycamore. The catalpa usually blows into the woods in back if we get the wind from the south, or southwest. I love robins too Sheri. At leaset the nest in the birch did not fall out during any storms like they do from the pines. The pines do not have forks for good nest holding. LOL Hope you get to enjoy your weekend doing some fun things outdoors. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie

    1. BJ, You are right...Our vehicles are 15 years old...and we just keep driving them...because we have taken care of them and fixed things as we go along.. I too fear a total breakdown of one of them. Ted says he is going for 300,000 miles on his truck. LOL We gave that golf cart a work out today. LOL. I am ready for bed and a longer nights sleep as we fall back an hour tonight. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Oh you better believe it sweet lady !!! Ann, growing up with 10 siblings it was nothing for flies to be in our house...our screen door was more like a revolving door. But with than many feet running around, and not a crumb to spare , we never had bugs or mice. LOL. But out here on the farm with all the grains and field mice...they look to a warm place to spend their winters....well it ain't going to be here. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. This Sunday afternoon, I tried to take a walk and the webs were everywhere blowing and I could feel them on my face...so I came inside. To creepy. The repairman told what the cost of the batteries would be and the meter on the charger and the labor...but then there were cables and nuts, bolts and hold downs of the batteries. Kind of more than we expected...but still cheaper than another used cart. :):) Hope you are doing well. We have had the best weather...but the webs are taking the joy out of the past few days. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Diana, I want to learn more about these spiders floating around on webs...you can't really sit out or be out, I think you'd be covered. It hate it...This happened last year also. The grounds get cover and the fields till they actually look like glass once the sun hits them. We had the best weather this weekend . Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  12. I know how things hit all at once, Susie, and I'm so sorry it happened to you and Ted. At least you can still enjoy the simple things in life like looking at the pretty trees!

We have put money into the lakehouse that the Insurance company hasn't reimbursed us for and now with Christmas approaching I have to be very careful, look for bargains and stick to a budget.

Thanks always for your nice comments on my blog!

    1. Blondie, The fact that we spent over a thousand dollars in one day...that's a chunk of our household budget. I can only imagine how much you and your husband had to pay out of pocket on the lake house. It will be so worth it , I pray. I love visiting your blog. Wishing you a great new week. 13. That's really a hit to the budget, I agree! I so understand too. It's never pleasant but when you're retired it hurts a little more.

Your photos are beautiful ~ as usual! We're finally into the 70's here & we've had rain for several days. It's a pleasant change from the summer temps that just wouldn't quit!
