This is some of my daughter's chickens. They were in the leaves scratching like mad. I told Liz if she tied them to a handle they could be like automatic rakes. LOL
Here the "boss". His name is Samson and he can be mean. Brave as can be too, he will walk right up to you. The sun is shining on his head and tail feathers. I love the color of his tail feathers, a blackish teal color.
This hen is pretty, I like her.
Now this is the cutest chicken of all. Liz's daughter in law(Emily) painted Layla's foot and had her stamp a piece of paper...then added the face. Liz framed it for her kitchen. I want one ! Layla has been saying Nana....that really makes me smile.
Today may be 60 degrees. The week ahead is to be 60 about everyday. The weatherman said this morning that come Sunday, it could get to 70 degrees...this is a winter month. Please keep all our people in the bad weather areas in your thoughts and prayers. Enjoy this day. XO
Oh- I LOVE that hand-turkey. How cute is that! Reminds me of the tree one CJK did for Christmas with his hand.
ReplyDeleteLove the chickens. It reminds me of the farm where I grew up. It was my job to collect the eggs...a job I hated because of some mean chickens. lol xo Diana
Diana, I never knew we could use little kids as paint brushes did you. LOL Yes, Liz and Matt have plenty of eggs...they share with friends and family. Liz said Samson jumped her legs and spurred her..she kick him and he took off and left her alone.LOL. Blessings for a great weekend, xoxo, Susie
DeleteDon't you just love to watch a flock of biddies scratching around the yard? We haven't had any in a long time (most memorable one we raised IN THE HOUSE on hardwood floors when Sis was a little girl. She now has a flock of six in her immense yard in TX---in a HOA neighborhood. All hens so the neighbors won't hear any crowing). She sends me videos of "the girls" all the time.
ReplyDeleteHope it DOES stay 60 all week. Got lots of cleaning to do, and would love to have windows and doors open. Just don't want to fool all the plants and then have SNOW in March.
stay warm!

I do enjoy seeing the chicken out running free. You can't get too close some times cause Samson will come at you. :) He's tough. I keep telling Liz to make dinner out of him. LOL. I can't believe our temperatures. Hope you can open the windows...but I really do not want the trees and plants blooming too soon. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWhat sweet chickens. My friend keeps chickens and loves the little stinkers. The picture with the footprint is cool.
ReplyDeleteHi Nonnie, I like to watch the chickens...my daughter shares eggs with everyone. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWhat a great flock of chickens. I bet she gets a lot of fresh eggs. The footprint picture is so clever! Enjoy your 60 degree weather. We are in the 30s here. It's cold!
ReplyDeleteKathy, The kids share their eggs with family and friends. Yes, it's to be near 60 for a week...that is scary for false starts with the trees and plants. Bless you and Joe, xoxo, Susie

ReplyDeleteOh, those mischievous chickens. The hen is such a pretty color. That is the cutest painting of Layla's foot, Susie. I can see why it was framed. How sweet that she calls you Nana now.
ReplyDeleteIt's raining again today, and I saw a yellow car and it brightened a dreary day. Have a nice Friday and weekend, Susie.
love, ~Sheri
Sheri, Samson attacked Liz the other day...she booted his butt and he took off. LOL She shares their eggs with everyone. I love the little foot painting by Layla and her mommy. I can't wait for her to call out my name some day. Liz sent me a video of her saying, "Where is Nama?" Bless you, hope you aren't in the heavy rain area. xoxo, love you, Susie
DeleteMakes me think of spring when the chickens are scratching about. They'll take to their nests soon. We're having 60's as well and 70's next week. Everything is trying to bud out and it'll get bit for sure. I feel so bad for those in the bad weather areas. It goes from one extreme to another it seems. Hope you have a nice weekend. Hugs, xo
ReplyDeleteSusie, When I read about your mom's chickens that what made me want to posts about Liz's chickens again. They are fun to watch. We are having the crazy hi's and lo's in temps too. Blesings to you and yours for a fun weekend. Love, xoxo, Susie
DeleteRoosters can be nasty...We are supposed to be in the 60's all weekend and 50's next week..It's nuts!!
ReplyDeleteMissy, When I was about 5, our neighbor's had a mean rooster who would chase us kids. I was glad when he was cooked for dinner . :) Enjoy the good temps...isn't this the craziest winter ever? Blessings to you and the pets, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLove the rooster made from Layla's foot, that is the BEST!
ReplyDeleteMy son has always called his grandmother in England "Nana". If I ever have a grandchild, they will probably call me "Old grouchy lady". LOL. xx
Kay, I laughed about your "grandma" name...that would have easily have been my mom's name at times. LOL. I knew when I started have grands, I wanted to be nana because there were all the other grandmas. So when the kids said nana the grands knew it was me. :):) Blessings to you for a nice weekend, xoxo, Susie
DeleteIt looks like slim pickins' for those chickens! I bet they will be happy for warm weather and some green shoots of grass. Love the work of art too! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDiane, The chicken are probably scratching up the yard now...it's really been warm the past 3 days. Spring like. Hope your week is starting off great. xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi Susie! Oh, I love that last little chicken foot! :) What a cute idea. Thanks for popping in to see me and hope you have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Shelia, you could make some of those chicken foot pictures with your littlest grand. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love chickens! They do eat so many bugs! Love the artwork. This weather has been wonderful and they are calling for 69 by Monday- my boob smashing day! At least it will be nice when we are out and about and I shouldn't get chilled to the bone for a change. Been outside today and just sat in the sun for a bit. Wonderful winter. (So far)
ReplyDeleteHappy boob smashing day...don't forget you will go in a 36 C and come out a 36 long...LOL. Blessings for a good new week, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI'd love to live in an area where we could have chickens. And goats. Eggs, milk and cheese! The clean-up wouldn't be so hot!
ReplyDeleteIn Michigan and the temps are going t be in the high 60's all weekend. Looking forward to open windows and some quality time outside with the dogs!
Jane x
Blondie, I would love a few chcken here...but I know the coyotes would be trying to get them all the time. Plus other farm area critters. Hope you new week is a great one...many warm temps coming our way. xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love seeing the chickens. We had a flock for years, but I gave them up a couple of years ago. Funny, the rooster has the same name as our cat! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteSamson is a powerful name.. LOL. Jenn, I would like some chickens...but I do not want to worry about critters trying to kill them. As hawks get my daughter's chickies, some times. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSamson definitely looks like he's in charge! And beautiful chickens. I've always wanted chickens, at least in theory. :-)
ReplyDeleteJudy, I think Samson would not let you pick one of the hens up. LOL. he acts aggressive at times. Bossy indeed. Hope your week is going to have a warm up...we are to have in the 60 ...possibly 70's Crazy. xoxo, Susie
DeleteI loved seeing the chickens/rooster. Samson is handsome. Layla's footprint photo is adorable. You need one of those! We are enjoying spring-like days, also. God bless your week. Love, Mildred
