Early This Morning.....

This morning the air was calm. Chilly 35 degrees. The flags were hanging  down. No fierce winds to blow them straight out.
The garden flag has been whipped for days. It's new and this is the first time I can see the birds on it.
The lilies are growing taller each day.
Our hostas are finally coming up...I actually thought they had all died out.
Found another robin's nest. I think it's from two robins we ran from the window sill for days. Looks pretty hap hazard..
The wind chimes made it thru some mighty winds, these past few days. The sun was out yesterday morning and today till this afternoon. Now as I write this we are in for more rain and it's here. Hoping it doesn't flood here. Although we are all under flash flood warnings.  I am thinking of all who in the path of all this rain.
Hope we all get better weather real soon.  Please be safe. XO

  1. I thought the wind was going to blow us away up here on this hill and I am SO TIRED of the rain!!! Oh my gosh!
I can't believe how much your granddaughters are growing up from when I first started following your blog. And yes, 13 is going on about 19 it seems. When I was 13, I was probably more like 11! LOL!
Looking forward to a sunny Sunday!

    1. Cindy, I always get a big knot in my tummy when the pumps come on. I just have a great fear of flooding. Oh our Emma and Savannah have grown up before I was ready to let go. They are in middle school. Savannah will be H.S. next year. I think kids should enjoy being kids...cause all too soon, they will be working for a living. Stay dry, blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. Hi Susie, we are really wanting the rains to stop but more is on the way again tomorrow. We had some sunshine yesterday and it was so good to see. They say the weekend will be nice and I hope they are right! So often the weatherman gets it wrong. We've had some wind, but MO doesn't get the winds like OK or KS, thankfully. During a storm, tho, the wind can really get with it.
Take care and I hope we both see some sunshine soon!

    1. Cheryl, You are in my thoughts and prayers...I wish the rain would spread out to the places that need it. :) I am so worried about the town under water. I am ready for a quiet day in the sun on the porch..no rain and no wind. :) Bless you, stay safe, xoxo, Susie

    1. Carol, I guess we are paying for that mild winter. I hope it dries out soon. Two more days of just about steady rain is working on my nerves. Be safe and try to stay dry. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  5. We had rain on and off for 4 days but it finally quit yesterday and we had a nice sun filled day. We're still getting rather cool nights so I can't plant my annuals. Your hostas are farther along than mine. I think they just wait for the earth to warm up to a certain temp before they pop out. I love watching the plants come alive! We had a "challenged" Robin one year- she attempted 4 nests on a ladder that lays horizontal behind the garage. I guess she was practicing with each one- lol. They can build some pretty flimsy and unattractive nests! We had another make a nest on our flood light on the back of the house once. She didn't like all of our activity so once she was finished with that batch she moved on and we removed the nest. I didn't much care for the messes she was creating on the siding!

    1. Liz, I always love seeing your hostas...you have so many big beautiful ones. Oh as soon as those robins are gone that nasty nest will come down and I am sure I'll have to wash the siding. They build in the craziest places. The one trying to build on the window sill was right by the door. That one near the shop was off her nest every time we went in and out.But amazingly there's 3 babies birds in there now. LOL. Blessings, be safe. xoxo, Susie

  6. We could use some of your rain. Feel free to send it this way. Your yard is looking so pretty. But that nest! I guess the robins will build wherever they feel like.

    1. Debbie, We are getting it now because of that mild winter . I am very tired of this rain . It's scary for us right now. I have never seen this much rain in the fields. My neighbor said he may have to re-plant. Wishing you a good weekend. I know you are eager to plant your gardens. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Sheri, Ted had actually just restrung that wind chime for me two days before all the winds set in. He did a fabulous job. :) Our robins have flown out of the nest ...now on the ground learning with their parents. We have had over a week's worth of rain on and off. But Thursday it rained all day long and stopped about 8 at night. Today it did not rain as predicted and went east of us. So thankful. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  14. What a great day you have going on there, Susie. Too bad it is not warmer than it has been though. It is still chilly here and we are supposed to get more rain tonight, too. Love the little bird nest, too.

    1. Diana, I can deal with the chill...it's those long all day rains ...I always worry the basement will flood. The pumps ran until this Friday morning. The rain went east of us today. We have had over a week's worth of rainy days. Over 6 inches. All the baby bird have flown the nest and now are learning to hide under bushes. LOL. Blessings to all of you for a great weekend. xoxo, Susie

    1. Sheila, I do not understand why a bird would build a nest near the doors or walks...where it's always busy. We startle them and they startle us. :):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  16. Your wind chimes and garden flag are delightful, Susie. I can't believe you are still getting cold rainy weather in May. It's pretty warm here in California, and sometimes it gets too hot.

A happy week to you, Susie.
