The Start Of Summer.....

The rains that came this week brightened up our lawns. The soy bean field across the road is very green  and growing.
Our lilies are blooming along the west side of the house.
They are getting thicker each year and the smaller ones have past their blooming stage.  Yet, the tiger lilies have yet to bloom.
The marigolds I planted in the old pot are looking very pretty . I even sowed some seeds along the outside of the pot.
This potato vine finally took over the entire container and is growing up the banister. I love the color of it.  So the rains have helped us here. The weather map for our up coming week, looks very hot. Actually it is to be hot in all  the continental states.
My sweet daughter Kathy celebrated her birthday this week.  She likes being a summer girl. She's out to dinner with her best friend , in an outside café/bar.
Hope you all stay cool and hydrated. Please  use care in the heat.  XO

Your Birthday Girl looks happy! At first glance I thought it was you and was surprised as I don’t think I’ve ever seen you and a cocktail in the same photo together! Happy Saturday, Susie!

    1. Linda, Oh heavens I have drank my share of cocktails. Now I only will drink martinis on cruise ships. LOL I love a good cup of coffee more. Oh that is also something that is out standing on a cruise ship, their coffee. That rain we had sure did help our plants and lawns. Hope you get some rain there. I hate to see some places flooding and others bone dry. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

    1. Hi Betsy, I like having some color around here at summer. Don't you wish we could have all of the flowers bloom in spring and last thru summer. After all the lilies, the tiger lilies will bloom and then those marigold will stay all summer into mum time. Triple digit it way too hot for me..I am not fond of the 80's. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  6. Your flowers are flourishing well, no heat stress there !
I have those same orange lilies beside the potting shed, I love seeing them sway in the breeze :)
What a beautiful young lady your daughter is, she looks so much like you Susie.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend, overcast here, but I'll take these cooler temps any day.
    Hugs,

    1. Jo, Thank you for the kind words. I like the tallness of the lilies. I have watered plants till we got the rains. Today I gave them fertilizer. My Kathy does have the same profile as me. She and I are very much alike. We like to sew, craft and junk. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  9. Happy Sunday Susie. I love seeing all the pretty color in your yard. I think with all the rain everyone's gardens in our midwest area are doing great. The lilly's up here are full and beautiful like yours. They must love the rain we have been having. Have a great new week.

    1. Thank you Kris. I did not put out as many annuals as I normally do, because spring was hot and dry. So the orange and yellow of the lilies kind of go with the yellow I used on the porch. Hope you did not have to water all your containers when we had rain. That was a plus...but heavy rains bend the flowers over. I did fertilize our container plants. Hope you have a good week too. We are going to another funeral, our neighbor lady down the road passed from cancer. So sad and it was unexpected for us, they are private people. Blessings, care for your Terry. xoxo, Susie

  11. I would love to plant some of those potato vines in the ground in the gardens but the rabbits would eat them. It is beautiful green. We could use more rain and in about two days it is to rain again. Blessings to you, enjoy your gardens. xoxo, Susie
