My daughter Angie and I went to Horton's today. After a morning of freezing fog...the sun is finally out. It was an eighth of a mile visibility when I drove into town. So I took the back ways. Horton's was busy.
By the time my daughter and I got there, you could tell that a lot of stuff had been sold. Serious shoppers there today.
They did have 30 % off most things today. That's an incentive for buying. :):)
We also went to the side street mall. That's where my favorite florist has a shop. It is a small place and so full of shoppers you could not really take long to look.
Do you remember the honeycomb Christmas trees I bought at Horton's sneak peek Christmas show?
Well, I bought more and put them all on the mantle. I mixed nine of those with three paperback novel Christmas trees I made last year.
Added some pine cones and some of Ted's wooden vases. Some old books that I use in decorating all the time.
I wanted to show this picture that Emma took of Layla looking out the window. When I saw this picture it just tugged at my heart. So Liz made one for me. I put it on the mantle with all the trees...cause that little round head made me think of Charlie Brown...and that's Christmas to me. :):)
Hope you are having a beautiful day. I am thinking of sitting on the porch in the sun...even if I have to wear a coat. XO
That picture of Layla is precious. I love how you have decorated the mantle. There was a florist in the town where I grew up that had a Christmas open house each year. It was always so crowded, it was hard to see it all. They were well-known and always decorated the Governor's Mansion.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good night. (this link is to my new blog)
Mildred, I love going to the florist shop and looking at all the cute things. Yesterday, they were booming and had tons of red carnations bouquets on sale. I actually bought a chicken picture for my daughter. Blessings for a great Sunday, xoxo,Susie
Deletewhat a sweet picture. It is so nice to have a tradition of some place special to go Christmas shopping, especially with your daughter. I always enjoy your seasonal Horton's posts!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I was kind of in shock at how much had been bought out at Horton's. Then the side street mall was having a thing too. That was interesting. I am going back to one of those shop this coming week. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSweet, sweet picture!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Peggy. For some strange reason, when I saw that picture of Layla I almost cried. I wondered what she was looking at , cause she was only 6 months old then. She is about 10 months now. Growing too quickly. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI love your honeycomb trees! Cute photo of Layla!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. I love that little picture. I am thinking I like the new trees I am collecting. I used to use some big pine cone from Georgia. and greenery. Then last year it was birds. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

ReplyDeleteI bet Horton's was fun and festive. The picture is adorable. Your mantel with the honeycomb trees looks so pretty. Have a great week end.
Kris
Kris, Horton's was a fun time and so busy. They were passing the fudge samples around again. Angie and I had a couple. :):) I loved those honeycomb trees as soon as I saw them. So I just mixed them with those trees I made last year. I need to change up the heights with my books. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSounds like a great place to shop. Glad your daughter and your tiny self made it! I love those little trees on your mantel. I have an old kerosene lamp like yours, it belonged to my grandmother. Thanks for popping in to see me.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Shelia, I just always keep that lantern there on the fireplace. It's so country it goes with every thing here. I really like these little trees. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteYes, those little ones are Christmas enough!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I truly almost cried when I first saw that picture of Layla. She was only 6 months old and I wondered what was she seeing. Then I saw a review of the new Charlie Brown movie and his head looked like Layla's in the photo. Sweet. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteYour mantle is beautiful and that photo just MADE it!!!!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I could not believe Emma had taken that picture of Layla. When I saw it , I almost cried....just trying to think of what Layla was looking for out the window. She was only 6 months old then. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI like those white bottle brush trees in your first photo. You visit some neat places when you shop, Susie.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your comment about your granddaughter's head reminding you of Charlie Brown's round head. Too cute! Our babies are so precious, aren't they?
Your mantel looks wonderful for the Christmas season! I love all the homemade trees! and I especially love Charlie Brown's round head.

Debbie, I love that picture of Layla...seems funny I know. I have a baby picture of Emma on my tree. :): Even One of my daughter Karen when she was about 8. It was an ornament she made. I love those bottle brush tree too. they are hard to come by. But I honestly didn't look at the price of those...cause I was into the honeycombs trees. Hope you are having some nice weather like we are...it's the fog that has robbed us of those sunny skies. The longer the snow wait, the better I like it. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

I shop there to help keep them going. Yes, I loved my little round headed girl. :):) She is growing up so quickly. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
