Welcoming December...

Here's Teddy Bear filling the bird feeder under the pines. Some times the feed doesn't last very long.
The sun  was starting to set and the sky to the east turned pink. I love pink clouds.
You can see the sun setting .
Thru the neighbors' apple trees.  They had a lot of apples this year. They have told us to help ourselves to them. I have helped myself to a couple here and there...too organic for me. :):)
This is the start of yesterday morning. Frosty and cold. Anyone who knows deck boards, knows these can be very slick ...so always be careful when they are wet in any way.
I took this shot, hoping you could see the frost on the lawn. It almost looks like snow. Later in the day, it did snow , then stopped and the sun tried it's best to shine again...then it snowed some more  and was sticking. Later the snow stopped and today is a sunny day. Some crazy weather for December already.
I would like to remind people today....when it is snowy out please feed the birds. Even if it's just old bread or crackers. We need them. They sing for us , which is so sweet. XO

  1. Good Morning Susie, I have enjoyed catching up with you. I know about slick decks. We had a few snow flurries that didn't amount to anything. We have sunshine today, but it is cold 23 degrees. Take care Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend. Shirley

    1. Shirley, Blessings to you today. I hope you are doing better. Remember to call your children or grands to help while you are healing. Yes, those slick decks can be a danger. We have tread mats on the steps...I was just thinking we need one on the top step too. Bless your heart, xoxo,Susie

    1. Nellie, The forecast for our area is going to be wonderful for the next few days..sunshine for Friday, Saturday and even some on Sunday. Today it is shining and looking so good. The sun will set early tonight and less day light till the 22nd. I do not mind the first day of winter...cause I know the days will get longer after that. LOL. Blessings for a great day. xoxo,Susie

  4. We didn't get the snow. Other areas did. I am usually in a rush for snow but too much else going on this year. Still unpacking.....and will be. But our home is pretty set up for the time being. Love all the pink sky pics. Apples straight off the tree are a little wormy and touch skinned for me too.

    1. Debby, While you are still getting settled into your new place...you can wait on the snow. .Hard to get things put up or away if you have to watch your footing. Yes, those apples are a bit wormy and I am not into that. LOL. As a kid I would have eaten anything..but I am pickier now. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo,Susie

    1. Yes, I remembered that it's summer in your part of the world. I have a friend in Quierding, Western Australia. Our snow melted, the big one that came thru...then that little dusting yesterday late...today was fine. This weekend is to be 50 and sunny. I love that. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo,Susie

  6. No snow for us. We usually don't get snow until January or February. Some winters we have gone with no snow at all. It looks pretty where you are but please be careful with the slippery parts.

    1. Kathy, I am amazed that you don't get snow till late. Oh the first thing I do is check the slickness...I am too old to be breaking bone. I had a broken leg when I was 37 and I do not ever want another. Take care, Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  7. we have had a dusting so far in Central Mo

I threw some beds out for the birds this morning and always feed them black sun flower seeds .I have some pretty cardinal families in my big bush out of my kitchen window and I love watching them. I never let my cat outside because he goes right to that bush .

    1. I am surprised you haven't had more snow. I know the ice storm went thru Mo. I love that you have some cardinals...we had them for years and lately I have not seen any. I am hoping they return when it's snowy and we have seeds and suet for them. When it's real snowy, I throw bead and cereal out for them. LOl. I just hate to think of them being hungry. Bless you for feeding the birds too. xoxo,Susie

    1. Judy, We feed the sunflower seeds way up high to keep the squirrels from eating it all.they eat on the ground what the doves and others knock down. I don't like to think of birds being hungry. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  10. The weather was mildish (for Dec) today so I filled our bird feeder too, and had to chase away the squirrel several times. i told him he's fat enough and to give the birds a chance. ha ha Yes, our deck was slippery this morning, I was out early (very unusual) and slipped, did not fall :-) I also slid a little as I braked for the stop sign at our corner.

    1. Linda, it's to be near or at 50 degrees the next three days. and sunny. Hooray. That's for me. I always check the slick conditions when going out...it's scary at times. I can walk like Tim Conway when he was on the Carol Burnett show....just scoot your feet. LOL. The squirrels around here have torn up some feeders... we are always tricking them or the other way around. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie

  11. Beautiful photos, Susie! We have been feeding the birds in a window feeder...so many birds visit, and I love watching them. We have a squirrel that has managed to make his way up there, and he looks at us through the glass, too. The birds feed even while he sits there eating lol.

  15. I just told Louis Dean today that we need to buy more bird feed! We have SO many feeders but love our birds!! They do so much for us in eating all the mosquitoes so we can enjoy sitting outside! The least we can do for them is keep the feeders full!!!

  16. These are beautiful pictures, Susie! They really show everyone this special, although cold, time of year here in the Midwest. You have reminded me to fill my feeder for the winter birds. Thanks!

  17. Susie, I can't believe I saw frost on my lawn the other day - it was soooo cold in the morning. Your pictures always make me smile of your deck and front yard. Ted keeps it up so well. And Yes, we must always appreciate the birds. They do so much for us. Today, I threw them a few pieces of my pumpkin loaf hehehe. That picture through the apple trees is so pretty, Susie.
