Around Here....

The corn is being dusted around these parts . The flying over head of the daring crop dusters, totally excites me.  I would just love to fly along.
The most crop dusters around here fly those yellow  colored planes. I have no idea what make or model.
Just another 5-6 hours and we can bring our vehicles home and park in the garage. The driveways look great .  We had the neighbor's permission to park in their  farm's gravel  drive, that was so nice of them.
The catalpa tree is loaded with these long bean pods. They will be turning brown in the fall . A few times, Savannah , Emma and I have painted the pods to look like snakes. Just a fun kid thing.
Yesterday was a really good day. The skies cleared in the afternoon...no clouds.  This is our sunset, ending a sweet Saturday in summer.
Our state fair is going on this week. It  opened on Friday. I used to love to go see the horses, chickens, and all the art exhibits. I never go any more. It's too long a day in the sun on my feet. :(
Wishing all of you a wonderful Sunday. XO

  1. Oh Susie, I'm sure your driveway will be super nice....just that waiting..can sometimes be stressful and inconvenient. I know some crop dusters and kudos to them...it can be dangerous, but like you, I love to watch them!! Almost like an aerobatic show! Fairs were always something I enjoyed going to also. But between the heat, and accessibility we just never wee those last few years! I hope their never lost though, as their a wonderful thing for children to to experience!

    Blessings,
    Gert

  2. The New Jersey State Fair is this week also. My sister and I opted not to go this year. It wasn't very good last year. I'm getting to the point were walking all day in the sun is too much for me also. I love the fair though and hope they continue forever.

  4. Hi Susie! I used to get excited about crop dusters. I know they are so necessary but they always scare me how they loop and loop! It's actually been hot and very humid here and I'm staying inside! ;) Thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,

    1. Shelia, When the planes fly toward the power lines and have to pull up to miss them...that is scary. I think they are brave and my friend says they are nuts. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. Do you have to stay inside when the crops are being dusted so close to you? I guess we wonder more now than we used to about what exactly it is being put on our food. Who knows what kind of bad stuff they used when I was a child.

I miss going to state fairs now too, but not enough to actually go!

    1. Dewena, Yes, I stay in...but sometimes run out for a photo....especially when the plane isn't dropping it's sprays. I pray there's no DDT in any of this . I just do not have the energy to deal with all the walking and heat at the fairs. I miss them too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. Your drive looks very nice. The crop dusters always remind me of the movie North by Northwest. It's too hot here for a fair. Not until October and even then, the days are pretty warm. Our state fair is a great state fair! Pat Boone '-)

  8. You will love your new driveway! I used to love to go to amusement parks and fairs, but I agree, the heat and walking are too much for me at 65.

    1. Karen, If I were to go to an amusement park...I would have to be carried by four big men. LOL. That is killer foot traffic at those places. Yes, honey, the heat and the walking tear me feet up. Blessings , xoxo, Susie

  9. YOur driveway looks amazing! We need a new one so badly but I doubt we will ever get one.
Our state fair is October - and I seldom go anymore either.
I'm going to the ranch next weekend with Summer and I bet all the crops are brown now. We water every day here and it's really hard to keep things alive - let alone pretty!

    1. Kris, If you are from the Midwest...you know corn girl. LOL I love seeing eh crop dusters and I do wonder what the heck they are dropping on our area. It always seems calm when they are doing it...no winds. Thankful for that. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  11. Wow...didn't know this still happened. Is it a dangerous sort of thing to inhale or be around?

Hope your heat is subsiding...we are.

  12. I'm like you I don't like the hot sun and standing around. Our fair is this week too. It would be fun to see a crop duster going over the fields like that though I don't think I could take the ride! New driveway?? I'll look at your previous post.

  13. Our crops don't get dusted around here... I don't know why they don't or what the purpose is. I think I used to know? Pretty sky pictures. Have a wonderful week.

    1. Missy, Some farmers hire the dusters and some have those pieces of equipment that will extend big spraying arms and they drive thru the fields. I think that is safer...no power lines for them to worry about. Blessings for a good week. xoxo, Susie

  14. Oh, the fairs are such fun, especially the town fairs. Too bad you weren't able to go. I can't walk too long on my feet either, Susie, as they start to hurt. What a lovely sunset you had on Saturday.
