Oh Sweet Summertime.....

The past three days have been wonderful. Low humidity, white fluffy clouds, the temperatures are not as high either. Ted has weed whacked , trimmed ,and mowed. I have watered plants, swept , and bagged up more donations.  We ran here , there and done much more.We have accomplice a lot these last few days. I love it.
Now , it begins !!  We are building a deck, a small one at the back door. There's a big heavy concrete step there right now. I truly love that man of mine...but dang if he doesn't jump in with both feet at times. First he was going to drill some holes and knock off the corner of this step, to set a post.
I look a bit later and he has drilled clean across the big step....why?? So I say, STOP ! LOL  Let's think about this..Can't we just build over the step?? That step is big-heavy and not going anywhere. So that's the plan. Saved Ted a ton of work.  Some times you have to work smarter not harder. he-he
We wrote down all the measurements and made a list for supplies. So soon there will be a deck back there. We are good at working together. I will get photos of the progress. Today we are waiting for the bug man to do their follow up treatment of the ants we had in April. Isn't waiting for serve people so much fun? Not !
Wishing all a great day. Please hold those in need, in your prayers and thoughts.  XO

    1. Linda, The deck will be big enough for a bench or chairs...but I love sitting out front, so I probably won't sit out there. It will feel good to work again. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. I am laughing because I do believe that is a man thing to jump right in on something. Once I mentioned that it would be neat to think about a room over the garage. I came home that night and he had knocked out a wall to make a staircase!!! Crazy! He ended up building a bookcase instead because the engineer we hired said our foundation wouldn't support a room. Now my way is to think things through before mentioning it. Love your cloud photo.

    1. OMG Nonnie..That could have been scary. I watch those flip shows on housing...every time I think, Is that a load bearing wall?? I am amazed at how people just tear right into a project without having things checked out. Oh we have a book case, that is like a big shadow box...it is where the plumbing to the bathtub is in the wall. So if need be we just unscrew the bookcase and pull it out for access. My idea, the door to it originally was about 14 inches by 14 inches...way too small to really work on things. Blessing to another smart woman. !!! LOL. xoxo, Susie

    1. Nellie, I don't now why we never made a deck back there when we made the one in front. The big concrete step must have served us well. We bring a big wood box to the back door thru the winter months and this will be nice to have it on the deck. Oh yes, we will be putting in reinforcements in that corner. As I am sure that wood box will be heavy when full. It's nice to have a handy man, willing to work. We both try to stay strong by working. Cheaper than a gym. LOL. Hope you are doing well. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. I'm getting ready to have a small deck built with almost the small situation as you - over concrete steps that are not level. Good luck - am anxious to see your progress.

    1. Judy...so much can happen in such a short time. We planned on getting our supplies on Friday and now a tornado has strck the town of Kokomo where we shop the Lowe's and Menard stores. We will have to wait for a bit. Pray for our state...it's scary. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. Love the blue skies and puffy clouds. Every woman needs a husband that will jump in with both feet, but they do need supervision sometimes.

And you are right, so many to pray for, the pictures of flooding, wildfires, bombings and earthquakes. We need to pray very hard.
I am praying for someone who has just started chemo for his cancer, my heart goes out to him. xx

  17. I can't wait to see the new deck, Susie. Now, this is in the back area, right? Oh, those white, fluffy clouds are so pretty. No clouds around here, just blue skies and warm days. There has been a nip in the air in the early mornings though, telling me that Fall is on its way. :)

    1. sheri, after the tornadoes in Kokomo we have to put the deck on hold...as we do not want to be in the way going to Menard's or Lowe's for lumber and supplies. That's where we shop in Kokomo. Yes, I was just loving all the beautiful weather we were having. Hope you are enjoying your outings there. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie
