Small Business Shopping.....

Saturday was small business shopping day. I love shopping small stores , instead of malls . I have come a long way. I used to go to the malls just about everyday  for a month, when I worked...to shop for everyone in my family. I would find lots of wonderful deals. But now I am the one who gives gift cards and money. No more all day shopping for me. My daughter Angie and I went to Horton's and the boutique Soul Sisters, on Saturday.  I bought this sign at Hortons.
I feel in love with this print , last time I was at Horton's. It must be a copy of an old Christmas card. I am thinking of framing it and keeping it hanging out all year.
I love pretty paper napkins. Plus being crazy for plaids made buying these easy.
This is the old world map, I have been thinking about since seeing it earlier this month in Horton's.
My treasures from Horton's and I will use each one.
Angie bought some bracelets and a top at Soul Sisters and this is the light weight sweater I bought. It's in a teal color and will go with my grays and blacks. On sale too.:):)
After shopping , of course we were ready for some lunch. Well why go out to eat when Angie had all those left-overs from Thanksgiving day. She had made some turkey salad for sandwiches. Angie toasted bread and made sandwiches served with b-b-q pasta salad and chips. This along side a good cup of coffee...well what better lunch.
I'll show you a bit of decorating I did in my next post. Hope all of you did well through out your holiday weekend. Got lots of Christmas shopping done. There's cyber Monday shopping today.  Keep track of your spending...lol...As I shopped Saturday using cash, that was an easy enough task. :)
Wishing all of you a great day. counting today 3 more days this month...wow.  XO

  1. Happy Monday, Susie Q! I always enjoy seeing your Horton Treasures! Sounds like you had a great holiday!
I used to shop a good bit for gifts and I enjoyed it. Now I find I make things like Texas Trash, Rosemary Infused Olive Oil in pretty bottles and Rosemary Salt. I will start on these after I get the house decorated. It takes an entire week!
You didn't mention your tooth so I'm hoping that has all been taken care of.
    Wishing you a good week!
    Love from Texas!

    1. Linda, My daughter makes us cookies and treats for gifts. I love getting homemade things..no matter what . I think your gifts sound perfect...I have seen your quads tear into that Texas Trash treat..so I know it must be good. :):) Oh my dang tooth...It has eased up and I will be getting the permanent filling on the Dec 1st. Then it'll be onto the next episode. LOL. Hope that will be a long way off. Hope you get rested up this week too. Blessings, love you, xoxo, Susie

    2. My sister, Nita, broke her front tooth on Thanksgiving morning. She went to the dentist on Monday and then to the bank where she took out a personal loan for - wait for it - $16,800!!! For real!!! Hope your bill is not as expensive - or as extensive!

  4. OK, I plan on going to Horton's this SAturday...so where is Soul Sisters?
I love all of your purchases. I was going to buy one of those maps but I didn't have a wall to put it on. Are you going to hang it up?

    1. Cindy, Soul Sisters is just as you are leaving Tipton on Jefferson street/hwy 28(same road heading west toward hwy 31. It's on the curve next to some gravestone place. Safer to spot the place and return..the curve makes it a tricky spot. Very small building , they have the same flowy clothes that Horton's sells. I am going back to your post...cause ted interrupted me and I never got to see everything. lol. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
p.s. show us if you buy something. :):)

    2. I think I know where you mean but I don't know the gravestone place. I know the granite place, which is stone!!! I really like those flowy clothes. I've bought quite a bit over the last couple of years. I'll show you if I buy anything!

    3. Cindy, The granite place is just west of the Soul Sisters shop and on the opposite side of the road. Hope you have a good time Saturday...I will be at Max's 1st birthday party...so I will be missing Horton's. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

I did have the best Thanksgiving...just wish all of the family could have been here at the same time. Love you, xoxo, Blessings to all, Susie
p.s. you are in my prayers dear friend.

  6. Susie, you found a lot of goodies at Horton's. A shopping day with your daughter sounds like fun. Jess wanted to go shopping when she came to visit, and it was black Friday and don't like all the crowds, but I said Yes anyways. She loves to go shopping when she's here cause she doesn't have the good shops where she lives by the ocean. Those plaid napkins that you found are so pretty. And I like that sign with the red truck. Oh Yes, you should frame that card and keep it out all year, it's so cute. Angie's Thanksgiving leftovers look great. How nice of her to make a special lunch for you.

Have a wonderful week, Susie, and stay warm. It must be getting colder there where you live.

    love, ~Sheri

    1. Sheri, So sweet that you went shopping with Jess even when you hate crowds. That's what moms do. :):) I bought the red truck sign cause I had a flag from last Christmas with a red truck on it. I have a couple old toy trucks to put on the porch and I am thinking of putting a little bottle brush tree in them. I did some decorating. Have the tree in the house...not decorated yet. LOL. Blessings to you sweet girl, love, xoxo, Susie

  7. I love the red truck..wish I could find one at the thrift store! lol And I knew you would go to Horton's for some holiday shopping! They have the best things. I wish I had some neat stores here in FL like I do in NC. Oh...and I guess I should wish myself up some more money! hahaha! Sweet hugs, Diane

    1. Diane, You made me giggle about wishing up more money. Me too. :) There's a thrift store in town called second blessings and I keep forgetting to go in there. I had my eye on that map at Horton,s so I had to go back there.Saw the red truck sign and knew it went with the little flag I got there last year. I have to get busy with my decorating. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. Susie- LOVE the sign you bought..and your sweater and everything else. I'm with you- no more mall shopping for me. I can't take the 'crazy' any more. lol
My dd and I went out for a while today, too, with specifics in mind and found just about everything...with NO mall shopping. I am to the point where I do most of my shopping online.

  9. I love the pretty cards, napkins and your sign, Susie! I do local shopping...my daughter Emily and I hit up a few place in town at the lake this past weekend. For Christmas I will make a few trips to a few stores at the mall...I love sales like two sweaters for $50. There is so much competition you can really get a good deal. And I love shopping online for things I don't have to feel or measure!

  10. I always love Small Business Saturday, hated that I missed it this year. Feeling good enough today I might try to drive! I feel the need to go to Dollar Tree, nothing I will buy will be to heavy for me to lift and I can park and walk right in. Have a great day!

Love to give unique and special gifts from small business owners. Horton's is a great place to find special things. I wish I did not live so far I think I would be in that shop all the time. Happy New Week.

    1. Hi Pilar, Thanks for dropping by. I love to shop my small town to help keep the businesses going. People gripe about no stores in our town...yet they will drive 20 miles to the next biggest town and support the malls. I tell my husband if we pay more here...it averages out with gas prices of driving. :):) Hope you are getting your Christmas shopping done. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  18. Cute snowman napkins...my first thought was, now that would make a cute card. I look for napkins a lot lately, cause they make cute cards, glue the napkins on card stock and embellish with a little glitter glue and wala..you have a card!!

    1. Louise, You are the clever one. I like that idea of making cards from napkins. I thought that was a cap on the snowman when I bought the napkins but it was a bird. LOL. I need new glasses, I guess. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
