A Teenager.....

Happy Birthday !!!  Our youngest granddaughter is a teen this week.  Emma is turning 13 this week, I just find it so hard to believe. She was such a cuddly baby.
She went thru that girly stage or princesses and dollies. Miss seeing her latest new doll or stuffed animal.
Emma was our  little girl , for a long time. She spent a lot of time with us while her mother went thru chemo. So we really got attached to her.
Emma was always papaw's girl.  They could tease each other and laugh endlessly.
She was my little crafting buddy. Can't begin to name all the crafts we did. I wonder if she still has any of them. I do know she will remember her times with papaw and nana.
This is just last week in Tennessee. Emma and her parents went zip-lining. It was spring break .
Emma's  taller than I am now.  She doesn't come to spend the night any more. Into the teen thing. Papaw and I miss her, so we'll  get lots of hugs when we see her. We will be seeing her this week. I am going to hug her so tight. I just want to wish our youngest, Happy Birthday.
Today is to be a warm day and sunshine too. Yesterday was very nice also, but still a nip in the air.  Wishing all a great day. XO

  1. She's grown up to be a beautiful young lady! I'm sure she misses you, too, but you can't compete with teenage "stuff", can you? -Jenn

    1. Kay, I think of Emma one day saying, "Nana and I use to make things all the time. " I know she will speak kindly of her times with her papaw and me. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. Aww...Susie. I have watched her grow up on your blog. We should have put a stop to that 'growing up stuff' a long time ago. We see that with my daughter's two oldest girls- young teens and a whole different connection to us now. We don't see them nearly as much. SweetCheeks is 10 and still a 'little girl' in some ways but I see the day coming when she, too, will be busy with her own young life.

I do think that you have made some wonderful memories with your sweet Emma that she will never forget.

Have a blessed Sunday, Susie. xo Diana

    1. Diana, Some times out of the blue, I will text Emma and say, "You are my girl" and she will text back, "You are my nana" . I think Ted and I have a special bond with Emma. I miss those moment when she and I had our talks. Our babies grew up too fast. :( Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Mildred, It seems kids have more than one birthday gathering any more. I think Emma is having a party with her friends. Her parents had a dinner for family. I do know that Savannah's birthday last the whole month of March. LOL. We love those g.kids to pieces , don't we? Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Betsy, I feel blessed to be able to be in so many of my grandchildren's lives. Only one grandson and I didn't have as much time together...during my working years. Emma was the one that stayed here more . So we just seem to have a bond with her. I want her to grow into a beautiful person...but I miss "our" days. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Linda, You know I feel the same about your quads...from before they were born, I have followed your blog..so we do watch our children and grands grow. I miss my special days with Emma. I fear the over night times are waning or even past...makes me sad. Once your grands start full school, it will be different. Just a bit. Blessings to all, xoxo, love, Susie

  11. Happy birthday to your Emma and I hope she has a good one. It really is sad thinking about what you mentioned. How they grow up and don't come spend the night. We are beginning to see the beginnings of that. Kids have such s social life these days and so many activities. The time you had with her was sweet and so wonderful the connection you have. Blessings to you today. Zip lining!!!! Yikes!!

  12. Happy Birthday Emma! I know exactly how you feel about missing her. My nieces are the same age and I miss hugging on them. I guess they have to grow up though! We have had storms all day long today and we are getting another one right now. I need to talk to you about your teeth! I am the same way. I can't hardly use that side of my teeth or they start hurting. It shouldn't be that way. I've had three teeth capped and this one has caused a great deal of trouble. I went to an endodontist and he did a root canal. It was better until I got the permanent cap. And now it feels like the tooth in front of it is hurting! I'm about to go crazy over this. And I'm totally out of dental insurance. Sorry...didn't mean to go on Susie but when you commented on my blog it sounded exactly like what I'm going through! Better go, we are getting lightening like crazy!

    1. Cindy, Thanks for Emma's b-day wishes. Your nieces are doing things with friends, just as Emma has been. Emma a cheerleader too, so she has the games and school activities also.
My dentist in Kokomo is Dr. Aislen. Across from Lowe's. He has a Carmel office also...that is where he does those 200 dollars 3-D x-rays. He says nerves can calcify..thus causing pain in many teeth. You may want to call him. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  13. Happy Birthday sweet Emma! She was the cutest baby, Susie, and still is. How exciting that she went zip-lining. The kids did this when they visited the Caribbean. I love that first picture, it's darling. I hope she had a wonderful day doing all the things she loves.

  14. I have no children but I can relate when I see my friend Dave's kids from little babies to parents with teenagers of their own. When did I get old?

    1. Boston Boy, I never in my youth thought of being this old...some times I feel younger and boy some times I feel way older. LOL..I do try to take care of my health ...which is my all time job now. I think you do not have to have kids of your own to care about your friends' kids. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
