What Is Happening.....

Earlier this week , I visited Diane's Lavender Dreamer blog. She posted some pretty pictures of flowers in a  lavender color. I told her I would be looking for some flower in that shade. This grows in the fields...so you know it's a weed of sorts.
It is such a beautiful color. I love seeing it...not sure about the farmers. I will ask the neighbor man what this is called, as I have no idea.
This is how it looks around here this week. Mostly gray and rainy.
Going to Kokomo for some top soil and grass seed . There's a bad spot in our back yard(shady most all the time). On our way we pass this drive. It is lined on both side with Bradford pear trees. So pretty.
This is the field next to the drive...you can see the standing water from all the rain...more on the way.
But, does that stop lawnmower man from his appointed rounds??? No.  Ted is mowing again.
Thankfully once Ted put the lawn mower away, he worked on this garden hose box. It took him about 3 days of gathering  everything together and getting it made.
He did a fine job. So proud of him. Our garden hose is pretty long and will not roll up on one of those cantankerous winding hose boxes. We sit this behind the bird nest bush, so it is mostly hidden from view of anyone driving past. I really like it.
We are in for more rain and possible storms. Hope all of you are well. XO

  1. That's a nice way to deal with an unsightly and long garden hose! Looks good. So sorry about the wet and dreary weather! Hopefully the sun will come out and give you bright days ahead - soon! xo

    1. Hi Judy, I think once this week is over things may truly look up. Snow is in our Thursday forecast. It surely won't stick as the ground is all mushy from the rain. Hope we all get sunny days very soon. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

  2. Your Ted can make anything! What a treasure he is! I love those purple weeds/flowers! Our honeysuckle is blooming profusely right now! It's considered to be a weed but it's a really good one!

    1. Linda, I truly love the way Ted likes to make useful items . We have to talk things over at times....As I wanted the bottom of the hose box to be open enough for water to run out , so it doesn't let ants build the homes underneath. I love honeysuckle. I remember when I was young and we would drive thru Kentucky and Tennessee, I would semll soe heavenly fragrance...I did not know if it was jasmine or honeysuckle. I still do not what it was...but I like to think it was honeysuckle. I am loving all the new things LD is doing to your outdoor areas. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie

  4. Yeah more rain coming our way Friday. More than likely it's the rain your having. At least we didn't get the April 1st snowstorm we got 10 years ago. 33 inches! Yikes!

    1. Boston Boy, OMG...I forgot that big snow of Boston's was in April. I remember walking home from school in April and ice pellets sticking to my hair. LOL. I am a bit wore out from this rain...it's depressing to me. Hope you are having some fun day while retired. I always tell people one day you will miss working. LOL...I know sounds like a madman raving. ..but it's true. I miss fixing the machine at work , the people, well most of them. You could be checking into day trips for you and Arlene. Honestly if my ankles did hurt so much...I would be planning trips myself. Blessings to you pal. xoxo, Susie

  5. Your hubby is very talented..great idea..That Pink flower is a ground cover ( I think) and I can't think of it's name at the moment..It comes in white an d lavender and spreads rapidly..so , be careful where you plant it..

    1. Hi Missy, I like the hose box better that those crank thingys. I think you are thinking of Phlox...there's some that ground cover and some that's tall. But I think this stuff is weeds as it grows in the fields. I looked on line and there was something about henbit or dead nettle. I hope I cane check it closer in the field on the corner here. I'll get a close up photo. Raining cats and dogs all day here. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. That is very pretty...and that ground cover is beautiful. My daughter had it in her back yard along her fence.

How far do you live from Kokomo? One time I went straight north from my daughter's house and ended up there. Maybe I could do that again one day if it is not too far of a drive for you.

Your Teddy is very talented all the way around. xo Diana

    1. Diana, I don't think this is Phlox(ground cover) It's a weed in the fields right now. I looked it up, It's called henbit or dead-nettle. My Teddy bear is a keeper for sure. I always tell him, "You are my best friend Hoke."(from Driving Miss Daisy) If you ever think you may go thru Kokomo again...let me know...I can meet you at Bob Evans , on the corner of hwy 31 and Boulevard. Across the street from there is Delco, where I used to work. It would be great to meet you. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. Susie, the garden hose box that Ted made is really nice. He did a great job. And please tell him that the lawn looks wonderful! He works really hard on it, and it shows! Those purple flowers are so pretty. You can hardly tell that they are weeds. The rain is good, Susie, so enjoy it while it lasts. Soon, it will be hot summer, which I'm not that fond of as I get older. : )

I looked on line...it may be henbit or dead nettle. I can not take the heat of summer ...well it's the humidity that knocks me out. :) Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

  9. Hi there, I love those flowers too-look like something that grown along the freeways in Ca. Your hubby made a lovely box for the hose-I'd love one like that. WE had a nice day today, but it was cold and cloudy yesterday. Sending hugs your way.

  11. You mean that purple is a weed? Surely not, it's beautiful!

As is the work of art your husband constructed for the lowly garden hose. Very nice!

  12. What a great job Ted did on the hose box!! I bought a heavy duty hose cart last year, it was an investment but so worth it! I have about 100 ft of heavy hose, so to be able to reel it up easily is such a blessing! Things sure are green around there! We are heading into mud season now, with all the snow melt and rain. I'm ready for spring - bring it on!!

    1. I like just kind of curling the hose into the box . We had an old one that wore out. I bet you are ready to get into your gardens. :) I have some grass seed to sow in the back ..in a low shady spot...hard to grow anything there. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Mildred, I hope your weekend is nice and that you enjoy yourself. I love the new hose box Ted made...it is so much easier getting the hose in and out of that box. We had rain again today...so gray and chilly. There's a fire going in the fireplace right now. LOL. Blessings to you and your husband, xoxo, Susie

  14. I love those purple weeds. They're so pretty. Good job on the hose box. I only get tired of the rain if it's interfering with something I need to do or if the water is getting too high. Those Bradford pears are so pretty. Too bad their blooms don't last longer.

    1. Nonnie, Since We moved here we have had two floods, one ice storm , and two earthuakes. So I always worry if it rains too much. You know I love all the flowering trees and you are right....if only the blooms could last longer. It's a pretty time of year. Keeping you and Dh in my prayers. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
