Before & After....

Look at this coffee table. My daughter Liz 's friend was going to throw this table out and Liz asked her if she could have it. Liz dragged it home and when we were visiting, she asked Ted if he would put a piece of plywood on top. This just made Ted laugh out loud. We brought the table home with us and Ted took it apart. Sanded it all down.  He made some new slats of walnut and mixed them every other one with the oak slats.  Re-assembled the table. Put on a nice new finish .
This is the after picture. Now this table goes along with the bench Ted made for Liz.  I told Liz she better not show this to her friend, because she will want it back .LOL
Daughter Angie and I got away for a morning of shopping . I picked up some t-shirts and a pair of summer pants.
We had lunch at Mc Allisters.  I orders the spicy southwestern  chicken sandwich with potato salad.  I ate all the potato salad and half the sandwich and brought the other half home ....which Ted loved. :) Angie had a pick two...half a sandwich along with the cherry/spinach salad, with cherry vinaigrette  dressing.  It was all very good . It was a fun day out with Angie. We had not had anytime together since school let out.  Next weekend is our all girl get away. My four daughters  and I are going on a mini vacation. :):)
Today is starting out as pretty as the beginning of the week. It may cloud up and could get a pop up shower. I am going to water the plants anyway. Wishing everyone a great weekend. XO

  1. I love that table. It goes to show what you can do if you know how. Not everything needs to be thrown out. And I bet Liz's friend really will want it back now. Your lunch looked really good! Have fun with your girls on your mini vacation.

    1. Kathy, I am anxious to find out if Liz will show that table to her friend. LOL. Ted is pretty handy. There used to be a TV show called the Red Green Show...he used to say, if you can't be handsome , you better handy...I got lucky and got myself a handy handsome man.:):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. Awwww, Susie!! Your Ted is an artist extraordinaire! What a masterpiece. Takes me back to the scent of my Daddy's carpentry shop, with all the lovely old woods stacked about and sawdust and plane curls underfoot.

I still have two of his pieces he made, and they will be passed to Sweetpea someday.

Lovely week we're having---we had new hostas put in and watered them lavishly yesterday, so they're all bright and proud standing this morning. I hope your garden is doing as well, for we've just been blessed with fabulous weather lately---even those two weeks of rain were a benefit, though we did have some water come in downstairs. The grassy square beneath "The Tree" is bright and lush, and I hope to keep it watered enough that it doesn't go to those big patches of just-dirt this Summer, like usual. The tree is enormous and the shade doesn't let much rainfall through.

You girls have a glorious trip!!

    1. Rachel, I love to smell lumber too. Ted has made some awesome pieces . The kids all love to get some made in his shop. Oh yes, if you have things your father made, they are treasures to pass down to your kids and theirs one day. We have those extra shady spots and it's hard to get the grasses growing right. I won't water the lawn here...it takes the pump to bring the water up and I worry about too much usage. Blessings to you, hope your weekend is great. xoxo, Susie

    1. Diana, There's times when nothing sounds good to eat, or I have not idea what I would like...but for some reason that food tasted so very good. I could actually go 2-3 weeks with out food and it wouldn't kill me. :):)

    1. Jenn, Oh yes, it's like a huge juggling act to have time with my daughters and no hubbies or children. Kathy is the only one with a summer birthday so we will be celebrating that and our own. ...since we decided it's hard to get together in winter , some times.
Ted did a great job on the table. Today he is putting a baby name on a little stool for our g.grand that is due in Sept. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Sheri, If I would just lose some weight, I would never need to shop for clothes, my closets are full. I have worn things so many seasons that I have become bored with them , then I get rid of them. LOL Some times eating out with loved ones and our friends is a nice break from cooking at home. I am looking forward to our mini vacation. :) Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie

    1. Missy, I think the table does look really good...it looks better than what Liz would have settled for...she thought if Ted just put a piece of wood in the place that the top was missing...then she was going to paint the table.LOL. But took it all apart and rebuilt it. I like it this way myself. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

I watered anyway too. ;-) The weather says rain, but it has said that last Saturday, Thursday and today and still no rain.
