Weekend With The Girls...

Friday morning the sun came up and cast a golden glow on the pines. I was excited. This was the start of a weekend with my four daughters.   I had turned my ankle earlier in the week. I did not think I would be able to go along with the girls. But on Thursday,  I iced my ankle on/off   and rested.  On Friday morning I was well enough to go. The twins (Liz & Karen) went to Angie's and they came by to pick me up. We met up with Kathy at her house in northern Indiana.
Liz, Kathy, Karen, me, and Angie down front. Gosh we take the worse selfies ever.  :):)
We had rented a cottage in New Buffalo, Mich.  It was adorable.  Lots of beachy décor.
I had to show this table set. Like reclaimed wood.  The desk was make of the same wood.
Everything you would need, but we did not need the fireplace. :):) But were very thankful for the A.C.
This shelf unit held  games to play ,if you could not get outside.   Friday evening the girls played Yatzee and ate pop corn.

A galley kitchen, that had plenty of room. Plus a washer/dryer stacked by the back door.  Everything you could need in this sweet kitchen.
Our first day, we went to late lunch at the Stray Dog, near the marina. The girls are saying cheese.
The place was packed . Kathy and I. Everyone ordered something different. We usually taste each others foods...this is like a tradition with my girls.  I use to tease them about needing a Lazy Susan table...so we could just spin our plates around to each other.
We enjoyed a good meal, went back to the cottage, Relaxed and played . There was a fire pit relaxing area. A deck with chairs and dining set. A small area set up for bocci ball. ...which Angie and Kathy played and laughed the whole time.  Later we all  freshened up and went to a near by casino (Four Winds). The girls had some dinner there...I just was not hungry after my pulled pork sliders, that I had for lunch.  So I just played a few machines ...slots. The girls played also. Not much...but I came away the big winner of 3 dollars. Yes, that's right...three  dollars. LOL.
On Saturday we went to the town area , bought some things at the cute shops. I once again hurt my ankle on a pedestrian cross walk. You know those painted lines are like a thin rubber. I must have been dragging my feet. I hit that paint line and  it felt like a  hammer had struck my ankle. The girls take me home to rest. They go to the beach. Come back to the cottage get all showered and dressed and go to dinner. After dinner they pick me up (I had been icing my ankle)..we go to the beach for pictures...but alas , it was cloudy and wanted to rain. But I took photos anyways.  We go for ice cream , then back to the cottage. Sunday morning, it was clean the cottage, strip the beds, and go to breakfast....Our long awaited mini vacation was ending.
My ankle is better today....as if it all popped back into place once I rammed in on the painted cross walk strip. Go figure ??   I enjoyed every moment with my girls.  I am hoping we can do that again .
Hope your weekend was good and this week is better. XO

  2. I love the smiles. That is so great that you got to vacation with the girls. What a nice spot. I think ankles and toes are tricky like that. About the time they heal, I seem to trip or stumble. :(

    1. Mildred, I loved that cottage. I would have loved to have been able to spend a long time with the girls...but thankful for the time we had. The laughs and excitement of seeing new views. 1. Jo, The cottage was six blocks from the beach. The girls walked to it on Saturday. Kathy knew my ankle was bothering me and she would let me out, then go park. The time went too quickly. I will have my ankle looked at . Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  5. I'm so glad you all got to go together and have some special time. As you know, I have 4 sons...can you imagine what the activities would be if I went somewhere with them. White water rafting, hiking a tall mountain, etc! heehee! Sure sounds wonderful though. Hope your ankle heals this week! Hugs!

    1. Diane, The girls wanted the relaxing time on the beach. We could not squeeze in every thing we all wanted to do...of course I was not doing near what I wanted, with my bum ankle. But the joy of hearing the girls laugh while recalling their youth, was fun. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. What fun . . . wish I was there with you. I was raised in Michigan City, only 9 miles away, if I remember right :) It was a long time ago, LOL.

    1. Oh Connie, how funny that I was so near where you grew up. It's pretty there, every season. Of my many trips to Michigan , my favorite thing is all the pines...that is why I love pines trees today. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. What a great time! So glad you could all get together. I've been to four winds before but never the cute shops. I've heard about them though. Mu cousin and I were going to go to them and I can't remember what happened. I think bad weather. Anyway Susie, you might want to get that ankle x-rated. I broke my ankle one time and didn't even know it! I just figured I sprained it and it would get better. Got a big honkin cast for six weeks.

    1. Cindy, The shop made me think of a more tropical area. Lots of beach things. I saw my sign in a shop...it says if it jiggles ,cover it up. LOL. I am going to have my ankle looked at today if I can get in...it keeps swelling a bit. Hope you are doing well. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. I'm feelng so bad about your ankle. My left is a bummer. Stating with cartwheels and happening right up to last week. I hope you continue to improve.

I'm amazed how many times our paths may have crossed. New Buffalo is about 40 miles from here. I take route 96, right by New Buffalo. The Stray Dog (love that harbor) and Redamak's are our faves. I take route 12 about 30 miles east to the lake. I think we are gong to meet up soon, Susie. You and tour daughters are gorgeous!

That town of New Buffalo is a cute place. It was extremely busy too. The Stray Dog was a big place. We did watch boats going in and out on the lake , while at the beach. Thanks for the nice compliment. To me my girls will always be pretty. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  10. What a wonderful weekend with your daughters, Susie. And how special that they were all there - it's hard to get everyone together at the same time. So sorry you hurt your ankle. I haven't been to the casinos in a long time. You won $3.00! This is a nice picture of you and the girls, and I think Liz looks like you the most. You will always have this picture to remember and look back on your mini trip with your daughters.

    love, ~Sheri

ps I smiled when you mentioned the lazy susan. My mom had one at her table and I'll never forget it. I don't see them around any more. : )

  12. I think the selfie is cute. What a wonderful time with your daughters and that cabin looks fabulous. You must have had to book that way in advance. I'm sorry about your ankle, but glad it didn't get too much in the way of your fun and at least you didn't miss out on being with them. We have a lazy Susan on our table and my DH and the kids spin it around just because it's there to spin.

It truly was a great time with my girls. That makes me laugh about DH and the kids turning the lazy Susan..I thought our whole table top should turn. LOL. Blessings for a great summer. xoxo, Susie
