This is my grandson Skylar after his first day of school. His book bag looks as big as he does.
I think this is his first baseball photo. I remember when he hit the ball and just stood on the plate and we yell, "Run , Skylar, run !!" He takes off for first base, grinning at us the whole way. You know how some images are frozen in our minds ? Well that is one I will never forget.
Here he is with his sister Savannah. So little and sweet. They squabble at times, but are pretty close. Once I told Savannah she would be looking some of his pals over, when she got older and she said , "Oh gross Nana". LOL.
Skylar had the skin graft on his arm. Which he needed. He may be coming home today. Of course going back and froth to Indy for follow ups.
The school had the elevator inspected and it's a go for when Skylar can return to school. His mother signed up for her family leave time, so she can be his care giver for a few weeks.
I am thankful that Skylar 's injuries were not worse . So thankful he had that helmet on. Thankful for his good parents who will care for him. I think Savannah will get to help out too, like getting Skylar this and that. Shh....don't want her to know too much. LOL. I am ever so thankful for all of you and your prayers and well wishes. Bless you all. XO
I am glad Skylar will be coming home soon...Sending prayers that he heals quickly! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Linda. He is home now . He will be going back to Indianapolis for his follow ups and one is this coming week. I know he's happy to be home...but oh some times I think people need to stay in the hospital a bit longer. We appreciate all the prayers. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSo happy to hear Skylar is doing better and will be coming home soon. Kids are so resilient and heal so quickly so I am sure he will do well with recovery. Have a great week end.

Kris, I am glad he can come home but worry about the safety of not staying longer at the hospital. They had to get a wound vac..You being a nurse, I know you will understand....scares me. He's a brave boy and I know he will heals soon...I guess I just worry.LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI have been away from my blog for along time. Problems with the site and I took a brake for awhile. It is good to find you still here. Hugs, Mary
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, I have missed you too. I am glad you could pop in today...hopefully all your woes will disappear. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGlad he is on the mend. It is nice that the school will be accommodating for him.
ReplyDeleteThank you Brenda. I remember a boy in our town went to school for all his H.S. years and the big kids carried him up/down stairs...he was handicapped. He graduated with his class on time too. I am just hoping Skylar can get to his classes once he is allowed to go back to school. He's got a few weeks at home for healing right now. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSo glad Skylar is doing well. Will continue to remember in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
Judy
Thank you Judy. Your thoughtfulness means so much. I think Skylar is going to be just fine..talked with him after he got home and he was doing well. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSusie, I am so sorry to hear about Skylar! I remember when he was burned so badly. Life can be so frightening sometimes. My mom had a very bad week. I was at the nursing home every night after work. My blogging time has suffered. You and your dear family are always in my prayers.

Lynne, I hate to hear this about your mom. I keep her in my prayers and thoughts. I thank you for your concern for Skylar...I spoke with him yesterday after he got home and he is doing well. He may not be out of school as long as first thought...that's is good news. I think Skylar has a bit of dare devil in him...hopefully this will calm him down a bit. Praying for your family, xoxo,Susie
DeletePrayers for your sweet Skylar!! I just love his name so it is easy to remember to pray for him!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. When my daughter named Skylar, she never dreamed girls would be getting named that too. Karen's in-laws call him Skeeter...and that's like nails on a chalkboard for Karen. LOL He is doing much better than we thought he would so soon. They are talking about him going to school in a week or so. He's a tough young man. Blessings, love you, Susie
DeleteSending prayers to Skylar and your family. I hope he feels better very soon. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet Japolina. Skylar is home now and seems good...he has a long way to go yet...but I know he's tough and can do it. Still makes me sad for him. Hope all is well with you . xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteSusie,
ReplyDeleteI hope Skylar starts to heal soon. These pictures are just precious, especially that first one of his school days. That's a funny story about the baseball game. Yes, we all have a few special memories that we will always remember. What a sweet post this is remembering Skylar through the years.
love, ~Sheri
Hi Sheri, Skylar has always been a good boy just full of steam...wants to go, go, go. But now he will truly have to make himself concentrate on his school books. Bless you, love, Susie
DeleteSusie..Love all the photos of Skylar and that sweet story. I think of and pray often for Skylar. I hope he heals fast.
