Skylar's Update......

Thank you wonderful blog family friends. Your prayers are so greatly appreciated.  Skylar had his surgery yesterday morning from 9:00 to 1:30.   He has pins in his toes. His heel is set. His arm is set. The surgery on his nerves took so long that his arm could not be closed up from the swelling. That will be done today. If there are no difficulties it will just be a closing. Otherwise there may be a skin graft involved.   This is relayed info to me.  I did not hear it from the doctors myself. I will learn more this morning.

Karen and Jeff have both taken off work for this week. Karen will take family leave time , to be able to take care of Skylar at home...when he is released. The drs. did say there will be PT when Skylar has healed.  This has been very hard to go through and my heart breaks for my daughter and her family.
We will get through this and hopefully that ATV will never run again. I do not like them.  I am not crazy about dirt bikes either. I am wanting Skylar to trade all those nasty wheeled things in for a pair of track shoes...then he can get his need for speed by running.
Again , I thank all of you. You are important to me and have helped me through  your prayers. XO

  1. I'm so glad it all went smoothly, I agree track shoes would be much better, my 15 yearold grandson loves his dirt bike and four wheeling, it makes me sick to think what can happen so quickly, best wishes and speedy recovery for him!

    1. Kris, Skylar is a bit of a dare-devil...I think. He may slow down now. I have always hated the riding gismos of his. I think driving a car is enough for youngsters. Thank you so much for your prayers and good wishes. xoxo,Susie

  8. What a good report, but Skylar still has a way to go in his long term recovery. I think track shoes are a great idea-maybe you should give him some as a present and a hint!
    Have a great Thursday.

    1. Thank you Dewena. It's been a rough week...but things are looking better, Skylar may go home today from the hospital but return next week for some follow ups. He did have the skin graft for his arm. My daughter's always been a tough girl...but she needs all of us at this time. Her husband also works and goes to school. So Karen will be handling most of the care giving...as mom's almost always do. :):) Bless you, xoxo,Susie

  14. Oh Susie, I am so sorry to read this. I'm like you, I don't like or think those ATV's are safe. My cousins son (about Tyler's age) had a terribly bad accident too. I can't imagine all he will be going through. My prayers are with all of you. Especially that poor little guy.

    Blessings

  15. Susie, so glad Skylar is on the road to recovery. Yes, the dirt bikes can be dangerous. My nephew had an accident on his motorcycle many years ago, and was all buggered up. I hope Skylar has a quick recovery, and I'm thinking of him and your sister.

    1. Sheri, I am not a fan of young people riding any of those things. I think it should be at least only 18 and up.. riding them. Skylar may come home today (Sat.) He had the skin graft on his arm and is wanting to go home. I just know it's going to be tough on my daughter. Her husband is a good caring person but he has schooling and work together. My daughter will have family leave time...that will help so much. Love you, Susie

  16. Dear Susie, so so glad to hear he is doing good thus far. Bless his heart and all of you connected to him. Will say a prayer for fast recovery.
One of our grandsons had a bad wreck on his dirt bike several yrs ago...broke his little back and we were all so so scared he might not walk again. First we gave thanks to our Heavenly Father for the wreck not killing our boy..then we prayed constantly for his recovery. He spent many months in a body cast but he is a healthy 22 yr old now. Thanking God every single day.
    xoxo
