My Valentine's Flowers...

While at the grocery on Saturday, I picked up some pretty carnations. They last so long.  I put one in vase for the table.
The rest is on the sewing machine table by the window. I could use some greenery in this...might snip some pine branches.
They are a deep dark pink, almost red.  I always use my old milk bottle as a vase.  Pinned a red ribbon around the bottle's neck.  When these start to fade, I 'll dry them and use them longer.
Going to my dentist today to get my permanent crown . You all know how much I love that. LOL
Ted has an early doctor's appointment today also.  We may be eating out today.
Wish you a great day and sending you hugs. XO

  4. Just dropping in to say I hope you're keeping well and warm up there---we have maybe an inch in the backyard right now, and I'm going out to pose our niece's Flat Stanley. They live in a WARM state, so they sent him here to pose in the snow and we're taking him to the track and the stadiums tomorrow. Tried yesterday, but it got so sleety after lunch we came home and stayed WARM and read.

I'd love to come up and see some of these places sometimes---the flower shop and all the magical old-fashioned charm of Horton's.

I hope you days as beautiful as your flowers!

    1. Rachel, My granddaughter had a flat Savannah(her name). We took it to our courthouse to get pictures from a very high window for her. She took that flatzy everywhere she could. It good you are helping your niece with hers. :):)We have had snow for a couple days now, just on and off....enough to be blinding at times on the road and slick in spots.I know spring is 40 days away...so winter can't last much longer. Blessings to you and yours, Susie

  5. If you eat out, I hope it is good! Ugh, dental work - expensive and unpleasant. Love the little milk bottle and pretty carnations. I think they smell so fresh.

    1. Two weeks ago when I went to the dentist and got my temporary crown, they drilled and filled a cavity the size of a pin head...138 dollars. I took the check in today and paid them the remaining 38 dollars that my insurance did not pay...today was the permanent crown ,they gave me a bill for it, it was 963 dollars..963 dollars holy cow. I know my insurance will pay part of it...I can never get ahead. But I can smile.:):) That's one reason my bouquet of flowers come from the grocery. LOL. I know that I am blessed, no matter what. Wishing you a great day, xoxo,Susie

    1. My big brother send fresh flowers for our mother's grave every Feb...they last about 15 minutes in the cold. I wish he would just trust us to buy some nice silk ones. I may have to have a talk with him.LOL...Mommy would not mind, I know. Some days our grocery has the prettiest flowers ever. I really do not like those muli-colored bouquets that aren't real life colors. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. JP, I know others will buy flowers all the time...I rarely do. But you know we may as well...life is short and should be enjoyed. So I buy a grocery store bouquet once in a while. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  10. I bought some fuchsia colored carnations the other day. Guess they're wanting to sell all the roses 'cause the less favored flowers (by some people) have been on sale. :)

Hope your dentist/Dr visits went well!

    1. Linda, I told my dentist that my daughter said I go because I have a huge crush on him..he said that works both ways. LOL. We all had a good laugh..I always tell him I love him and couldn't we meet for lunch instead of at the dentist chair. :) I am loving my little bouquet, moved it about three times. LOL. 12. Susie, I love carnations. They smell so good and are pretty long lasting. I have two pink ones in some grocery store bouquets, and I usually just throw them out, but might try to dry them. If you do anything special to dry them would you let me know..Happy Tuesday..Judy

    1. Judy, I just take the carnations out of water and tie a string at the bottom of a bunch and hang them upside down.. They are good to keep the color too.I enjoyed viewing all your sweet mantles....I was amazed at how many you had. :):) Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  13. I like carnations. They last so long as fresh cut flowers and I always dry mine just as you described. I also like their spicy scent. The deep pink is very pretty and the milk bottle is just the sort of vessel I'd use. So simple. Sorry about your dental work. Dennis has been going through the same thing. Hugs to you, Nancy

  14. CARNATIONS, one of my favorite flowers! They smell so pretty and last such a long time. Your pink/red carnations are lovely, Susie. I like the ones in a bunch on your sewing machine. :)
