Men At Work.....

Friday afternoon , the crew that does  driveway sealcoating came. There were two crews.
The prep crew. They trimmed along the drives.  Filled in any cracks in the pavement. That was a crew of four young men. All working steady. Then they drove off and a crew of  three came.
The sealcoat crew, came in and went right to work. I ask if I could get a photo. They said yes, so I told them to look up and look pretty. :)
These fellows did a great job. just worked till it was done and never left not one bit of a mess.  The man in charge even took his shoes off to bring the bill up to the door. Four hours after applying the sealcoat, you can walk on the drives but must wait 48 hours to drive on them.
This is the shop/garage drive...it has a curved area along the flower beds. Thankfully our neighbor lady let us park our vehicles in her gravel farm drive. She also had her garage drive coated. Then a fellow from down the road stopped and asked the crews to come to his house. They gave him a business card . They send out  the owner and he evaluates the drives and what it will cost.  They give a discount for okaying the contract within two weeks.
Ted and I have decided to send extra along with the bill as a tip for each fellow who worked. I already told the crew boss, who happens to be the owners SIL.  :):) Believe me the total price was very reasonable. So glad to have this done.
Today is low humidity here and it feels so good. I will be able to run a few errands and sit outside .  I want to wish all of you a great weekend. XO

    1. Linda, I wanted to tip because a job well done is getting to be scarce. So I wrote the owner and sent tow checks...one for the job and one as tips for all the men. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Karen, I love when people give their all and take pride in their work. This was a bunch of really young fellows too. I am thankful that I did not have to do it myself. Ted and I did one year and it was work. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. It looks so nice, you must be delighted to have that done! I need to get estimates to re-crown my gravel driveway - a couple of big storms left ravines down the center!

    1. Honey, It's always something when you own a property. I know you work hard there...but it's nice to be able to hire others to work and then get a job well done....that is such a plus these days. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  5. Isn't it nice to have something nice to say about a job well done nowadays? So many don't care about their workmanship - just money. So, I think it's great to commend them on a job well done,

  6. We almost always tip the workmen who work at our house or buy them lunch. That drive looks good. Happy weekend and I love low humidity here in Texas. We are going to an outdoor birthday party this afternoon and it is already 98 degrees. 😬

    1. Nonnie, I am pleased with the out come of the driveways. Just glad I didn't have to do it myself.LOL. Hope your birthday party goes well. It's still hot here...even though the weather forecasters keep saying it's low humidity...it doesn't feel so much cooler. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. Your driveway looks great and I'm sure will last. WE have cement aggregate and with the snow it chips. Costs an arm and a leg to have it redone. Hope you have a fantastic weekend.

    1. Noreen...the sun or snow/ice is hard on our drive ways. We priced concrete before we did the asphalt...it was 4 times the price. Yikes. So since we had one asphalt drive we just re did it and then the one by the shop. We sealed it once ourselves...that was a lot of hot work...glad I don't have to do it. :):)I am ready for a vacation of some kind. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  9. Hi Susie,
We would have to seal coat our drive at the last house every year. It is reasonable and they do such a great job. You are the sweetest to tip the guys that worked so hard on your driveway.
Happy Week End. So happy for the lower temps by me too.

  12. Hot and sticky here. You folks have so much space around you! I have even thought about moving to New Hampshire where there are as many people in the state as there are in downtown Boston on your average day. I should take a picture of my sisters neighborhood. They are on top of each other here. It's pretty much the same at my place (When I get to move back).

    1. Boston Boy, do you think you could bear to live away from the crowds? Haven't you lived there you whole life? Yes, get some snaps of your sister's neighborhood. I sure hope you can get back into your home before much longer. I think you and Arlene are good pals and enjoy your time ...I am sure she misses you. It's nice when we can count on someone. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Dewena, I do like when you hire someone and they do their very best. Truth is everyone should approach their job that way....but we know they do not. So yes, I was very pleased with these young fellows and the job they did for us. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  14. That looks so nice all freshened up! We like to tip the guys too but it doesn't always work out to do it in person. I'm sure they'll appreciate it!

    1. Liz, No I did not tip the fellows while they we here. I sent their tip in with our payment and a letter stating to give man a fair share of the tip.. But I did mention the tip to the owners' son-in-law in front of another worker. So they know there's a tip involved. I used to work with the owner when we were employed at G.M. He's an honest fellow. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
