New Treasures....

These are my finds from the Goodwill store in Kokomo.
This looks like a cocktail shaker. The cap is missing from the pouring holes.

This little  leather wristlet purse, looks like the hand tooled leathers from Mexico .  You know from days of old.
This is the shaker with the top on it. I thought I could use it as a vase and this top could be a flower frog.  Ted bought some old candles while at goodwill. He makes fire starters from the wax. Way cheaper than buying the starters.
The weatherman keeps saying rain for our area. The paper shows a five day outlook, little clouds with rain drops shown for everyday. We got 1/4 inch of rain on Wednesday night. The town 5 miles from here got over an inch. So I think in the wee hours of Saturday is when we may get the most rain. Just hard to plan things...such as the bug man coming to do his summer treatment...remember those ants I found here in April....I sure do and I never want to see another ant in my house. I have goosebumps just thinking of them.
Wishing all of you a sweet Friday. Hope your weekend is a good one also. XO

  4. Those leather purses were so popular when I was a teenager, maybe they will be again. Everything seems to come back, doesn't it? We went thrift store shopping last Saturday for the first time since we moved here, more fun than going to a movie for us.

Almost every time it rained at our old house the ants showed up. I tried all the natural things I could find online because I hated to spray, with pets inside.

    1. Dewena, Have you noticed somethings like fringed vests or purses are back and kids think it so cool. LOL. Little do they know it's from the seventies. I am just going to use the bug man services we signed a contract with...Ahab. Blessings, stay cool. xoxo, Susie

    1. Linda, I am ready for some cooler weather....this heat is no fun when you can be out long in it. Makes it as bad as winter that way. Blessings for a safe fun weekend with Summer girl. :):) xoxo, love you, Susie

  6. Oh Susie, how I wish we had a little bit of rain to help with the heat during these summer months. You found some nice stuff at Goodwill. I like that leather purse. Yes, it does look like the leathers you see in Mexico. It's such a talent when carving pretty designs in leather. You don't see that around here. I hope Ted was pleased with his candles.

Thank you, dear, for your wonderful comment on the wedding post. I'm just resting after a long weekend of festivities and visiting my favorite blogs. :)

    love you, ~Sheri

    1. Sheri, You are such a good mother to your children. I know they appreciate your love and care. Yes, just rest and enjoy getting outside if you can. It's too hot to linger outdoors here. Hoping for rain...but no floods. LOL. I like just going to the junk shops and looking at things. Don't always have to buy anything. Blessings for a fun filled weekend. Love, xoxo, Susie

    1. I'll get photos if I use that shaker for a vase. LOL. Linda, you know we all like to see how others use their treasures. The last rain here turned to steamy fog. The bit we had on Wed. evening did not faze our temperatures. So ready for some cool fresh air. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. Hi Susie, Your finds bring back memories-my parents had a cocktail shaker like that too. When I was little my brother went to Mexico for a week and brought back purses similar to the wallet you shared. Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the cooler air.

  9. Love you finds. My mother's wallet, when I was small, was like that. Oh, the memories. I love the idea of using the shaker for a vase! You could turn it upside down and place it inside and no one would see it. I use the cheese shakers for small, short stemmed flowers and they work wonderfully. I hope we get some of that rain, too. Glad you got some- we are dry as a bone here. Have a fun weekend and keep looking for great stuff. (Glad your ants are gone.)

    1. Tete, I never thought of using cheese shakers. I think just about the whole country needs some rain. I do not want flood conditions...but our lawn is getting brown and crunchy. I remember seeing wallet like this purse now that you have jogged my memory. The ants are gone and oh my goodness, I never want to see them again. Blessings, xoxo, stay cool girl. Susie

  10. You did find some treasures. What a clever idea to use the shaker top as a vase/frog. It finally rained today in IL and my gardens needed it so...and I hear cooler weather is headed our way too.

  12. It has been a long time since I've found good bargains at Goodwill. There is one not far from where we live. It is handy whenever there are things we want to donate. We could certainly use some rain here! Our temps have been very hot this summer! XO Nellie

    1. Nellie, We have a place in town that we could take donations...but I am not sure it goes where it's suppose too....Also there's a Salvation Army store in Kokomo...I should be donating there. Well I have enough for all the junk stores...if I clean my closets. LOL. I am praying we all can have some cooling rain...no floods though. I saw tonight news where New Orleans is flooding again. So sad. Bless you my friend. xoxo, Susie

  16. Our bug man came yesterday and informed me that we have fire ants by the patio and also in my beautiful mandevilla. He had to out ant bait in there and I hope it doesn't kill the plant. However, better to lose a plant than have those mean biters so close to the house. That little leather pouch reminds me of the ones we carried in grade school.

    1. Nonnie, I would not want those fire ants either. The bug man is due to be here on Wed. and I am hoping it isn't raining then. But we need the rain too. I am thinking of clearing my front flowerbeds and starting over. I am tired of the mums . It's been a rough summer here. I thought that wristlet could be a pencil/pen holder. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  17. The purse is cute! I was not sure of what the shaker was at first. I bet it will make a nice vase.
It has been hot and humid here and I have had big black ants, but we are having a lot of rain this weekend.
