Up Dates....

This is some information about the root canal I was to have. Yes, I said once again, "was too have." I went to the endodonist on Aug. 1st. .  Of course they take more x-rays...not trusting the x-rays my dentist did in July. For crying in a bucket. The assistant takes two x-rays. One of the tooth I say is hurting and one of a molar I had root canals on ,over two years ago...that has been sensitive ever since that day.
The dentist comes in and says..."I am not doing a root canal on that tooth. I see nothing wrong with it. But that back molar looks a bit iffy. I want you to make an appointment at my other office , in another town. I have a 3-D x-ray machine there. That will cost you 200 dollars out of pocket for that x-ray. "  What???  For now I am putting this on hold. Maybe in a couple weeks, I  have to work up the nerve to go.

Yesterday was class mate brunch.  One lady is still having surgeries on her knees and ankles. Yikes.  It was only a small gathering this time. Always fun to see everyone and catch up on one another's  lives. I am the tall one in the back. I have never thought of myself as tall...but this photo makes me look the tallest. :):)
Teddy Bear's brother Cliff has been moved to the therapy floor at the hospital. He will be there for 3 weeks intense therapy. Then sent home , but will be getting in home therapy . Thanks for all the prayers. You are the best friends.
Wishing all of you a great day.  XO

  1. Well Susie...I sympathize with you! Denistry has become so hard the past few years....costly beyond belief and being sent from multiple denistry offices just to repair a tooth...you almost have to take out a second mortgage...ridiculous! I hope you find relief!

    1. I have a dental insurance that I pay 58 dollars every month for coverage and I still pay plenty out of pocket. To get a cleaning and x-rays every 6 months and still be having problems is making me about nuts. LOL. It's so hard to stay with my dentist , I've had him for 30 years...he never does root canals, implants, or extractions....half the time his assistant is putting on the crowns...that's a bother to me. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. It seems no matter what Doctor you visit for whatever problem, they send you somewhere else. However, I am glad your dentist said no root canal. I have had three or four. They weren't too difficult, but they weren't exactly fun times either. The first root canal I ever had was in 1973 and it gave me fits for years until I finally had it removed and an implant put in a couple of years ago.
Maybe everybody else is shrinking. :-) Glad Cliff is getting the care he needs.

    1. Nonnie, I think all the dentists and drs. are helping their friends out by sending us here and there. LOL. I hate root canals because they don't last. The most expensive tooth I ever had is not in my mouth. LOL. It had a filling, then a bigger filling, then a root canal, then I had to have it extracted, then the dentist made a replacement partial and it wore out, then he made another ...it never fit right, then he ordered another and it hurt so badly I took it pout as soon as I got home and do not wear it. So that's about a 7 thousand dollar tooth that is gone. I am waiting for the time being. LOL

  3. I am so sorry you are getting the run around at the dentist, too. Its insane what they want people to do now. I am still on hold for mine, too.
Glad Cliff is getting therapy and doing better- gonna take some time.
You do look tall in the photo!
A few more hot days and then we get a cooler weekend! Woohoo! Is it fall yet? These bugs are driving me crazy. I know its a short drive, but hey, I am there.

    1. Tete , when you told me your story about the dentist, I truly had sympathy for you. I some times feel like my own dentist whom I have had for 30 years is not helping. If 3D x-rays are so good, why don't all offices have them...you know they have the money. Cooler weekend will be great. I am tired of sweating...yuck. LOL. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

  4. I never trusted root canals, my one was enough. Maybe it will get well while they are sending you to other places.

  5. It is ridiculous that you should have to pay that much money. I find that there are many times that I simply can't afford to have the work done and I am struggling now as my teeth are bad and I hate it.

    1. Carol, The odd part of paying 200 dollars out of pocket...I am not sure that's for one tooth or all of them. Who could afford more than one x-ray at those prices. Honey, please try to get into a dental program, they will work a financial program up for you....to get your teeth fixed. I have so many tooth brushes, well you saw all the things I use, floss, brushes, pastes, even baby brushes to work around my gum lines. I am trying to care for these teeth. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  6. I'd be looking for a new dentist. There's no controls of any kind on dentist, and there's no such thing as dental insurance that works like health insurance. Bummer.

    1. I think they charge what they like or can get by with. :):) Plus they do not want to take too long on one patient when they can squeeze in two or more at a time. I am waiting awhile on this x-ray thing. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. I feel so bad for you, Susie. My dentist gave me a song and dance about some possible tooth decay under a crown where I had a root canal ages ago. It was going to be a 2 hour ordeal to find out. Sorry. No deal. And he wanted me to come in every 3 months for my teeth cleaning. Bull. It's definitely a money thing and we don't have dental insurance. This is the second dentist I've found to be taking advantage of me. I was lured in with a coupon for a $45 teeth cleaning. Now they are $160. I could scream. Not sure what I'm going to do either.

Love that pic...you are so lucky to have a nice group of friends like that.

    1. Blondie, I stay with my dentist and he isn't in my dental plan area..he does nothing like extractions, root canals, or implants...always sends me elsewhere for that. I get my teeth cleaning and x-rayed every 6 months...I use baby brushes, the new brushes with flossers , dental floss, mouth washes, you name it. I am doing my best to take care fo my teeth and still having problems. I think that molar never was done right...because since then I have had the sensitivity . I am not sure 200 out of pocket covers one tooth being x-rayed or all of them...well no one could afford that much for more than one tooth.Yikes. Blessings to you, hope you are doing okay with your teeth. xoxo, Susie

  9. Wow, that is a lot of out of pocket funds for a diagnosis. Think I'd be requesting my x-rays and moving on.

    1. Vee, You would think that an x-ray in July would work for the first week of August. I think they know they can take as many as they like and someone will pay...even if it's me after the dentist has depleted my insurance allowance. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  10. Susie, sorry you're having to go through all this dental stuff. I have a few appointments lined up myself for this and that, nothing major. It's always nice when I see you classmates getting together, and I still want to do something like that. I did see my two best friends at Jess' wedding this weekend. :)

    1. Sheri, It's just really sad when you can't get any answers from the dentist to why you are having pain. I am so glad you saw your best friends . I bet that was fun for you. So your baby girl is married now. :( Hoping for some great pictures soon. Bless you, love, Susie

  12. Oh, dentist problems and expenses, I feel your pain!!
    Here is my story, honey...
I had to have a crown on the left side of my face. When I went back for it, they were to take out the temporary crown. THEY HAD USED THE PERMANENT GLUE for the temporary one and could not get it off!! The dental assistant went to get the dentist and he was very angry and jerked at my mouth. The assistant came back in and said, "what is your OTHER crown doing out?" He had taken out the WRONG ONE! So, they then had to fix that one, and THEN, jerk my mouth just about off to get the temporary one off! AND THEN, had to put on the new one. This took hours!
Just had to have new crown, and boy, did I feel nervous? You bet!!

    1. Kay, That is scary to read. I hope the dentist paid for that crown he took off in a fit of anger....no one wants dentist or eye drs. being angry. At least Dr. Mike is patient with me. I know he probably thinks I am totally nuts....well I am getting there and the dentist profession is helping me go crazy. LOL. Bless you , xoxo, Susie

    1. Missy, Don't think that hasn't crossed my mind. I guess they think if I am not glowing in the dark...well just take more x-rays. LOL I would like to know how many drs. and dentist just would keep ordering tests and x-rays till the someone called them on it. It's as if they want to drain us of any money we may have. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  14. Wow, that's a lot of money to pay out of pocket. i'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I know what you mean about doctors and dentists. I need work done right now and just waiting it out due to so many doctor appointments. They are running me to death to no avail. Sorry to hear about your brother in law and he'll be in my prayers as well as you. It's been a scorcher here also and doesn't want to let up. We're still in need of rain but only getting a little tad from the system in the Gulf, was hoping for more. Stay cool and take care. Hugs and Love, xo

    1. Susie, I had gone to this same dentist once last year and seeing if I needed a root canal on an eye tooth that My dentist was crowning....they made me pay 148 out of pocket and never even turned it in on my insurance. It is hard to understand insurance. My BIL , Cliff will be a fighter, so I expect good results. Thank you for the prayers. Oh we are to have rain this week. I sure wish it would get started. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie

    1. JP, It's almost like the medical industry doesn't give a hoot about anyone after they retire....even if they have insurance. They use that up and then want our pocket money too. Thank you so much for the kind prayers. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
