This is Karen, she's my last born child....she came into the world with her sister Liz. Twins, you know. This photo shows the real Karen as she grew up. Smiling, flashy those dimples. Tomboy kind of girl. Roller skated, skateboarded, bike riding, and ball playing. Loved all sports.
Today Karen is having a lung scan....to see if the tiny node that was seen in her heart scan is still there. I am thinking of her and holding her close in my prayers today. Will you also? Please.
Karen came to lunch yesterday. I fixed one of my father's favorite foods...salmon patties. Yes, they have to be served with peas. I do not fry much here, so I had to use margarine to fry the patties. Karen asked me if I had any bacon grease. LOL No way do I use any of that here. Yes, it would have had that wonderful taste. :):)
While Karen was here, a friend was texting her and asking for a birthday pie. Karen bakes things and takes them to her friends at work.....now they ask for treats. So funny. Karen actually loves cooking and baking. She was telling her friend , if they kept pestering her , they were not getting any pies.:)
Today the weather will change for us later...but at this moment it is still perfect. Love these sweet days. Wishing all of you well. Enjoy. XO
Oh, Susie your mother-heart must be anxious. Our babies are our world. Prayers for your girl and you as you wait. Thanks for always being a precious encourager. Sometimes the strong become weak. Prayers for you, sweet friend. Let me hear how things go.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, Thank you so much for the prayers..every one is so greatly appreciated. I like to think my faith is strong, but as you say it can feel weak just as we need it to be it's strongest. So I just keep on praying. You are so welcome on the encouragement...we all need that at times too. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeletePraying for good results for Karen - xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much sweet girl. Prayers are so helpful when we feel there's nothing we can do ourselves..God knows we need his help and love. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeletePrayers for Karen. Oh Susie as a mom I know your heart is heavy with Karen going through this. Power of prayer my friend that all is good on the scan. Hmmmmm what is a birthday pie? I am making homemade apple pies today. I love the honey crips apples and gala apples together for a pie. The house smells so good while they are baking. We lost our sunshine this after noon and thunderstorms came in.
ReplyDeleteFall is definitely here. Keep us posted on the results. Hugs to you and Karen.
Kris
Kris, You know how we tend to try to push things to the back of minds...doesn't always keep us from worrying even as we pray. Thank you for prayers and good thoughts. Apple pie has to be number one at this time of year. I think Karen's friend wanted coconut cream or apple. The boss said no coconut...please bring apple. LOL. It is looking like rain this afternoon. Ted's wanting to golf in the morning...it should be thru our area before then. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSaying a prayer for your daughter, Susie. Please let me know when you find out how the scan went. So scary. John has nodules on his lungs, too, but they are not cancerous. Praying the same for her.
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while I get hungry for a salmon patty. My father loved them, too. xo Diana
Thank you Diana. I will post about Karen's results. She was a bit nervous about it yesterday...saying what ever it is she wants this all over with...to get back to normal. My father would put cornmeal in the patties as filler(so many kids)...they would be like a hockey puck at times. LOL. Poor daddy, so used to cooking for an army..I don't know how he ever cooked for himself. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie
DeleteSusie, I am thinking about you and your beautiful daughter. I hope and pray that all goes well for her. When my daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer, I can remember so clearly all that we went through. I imagine similar to what you and your family are going through now. My daughter came out hail and hardy on the other side and your's will too..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteJudy, Karen's twin, Liz, had breast cabcer and is doing well and no cancer now. She also had thyroid cancer and is good. Karen had her thyroid removed last year. She decided on a heart scan because of the heart disease in our family. That scan showed a nod in her lung. That's why the scan...always scary where our kids are involved. So thankful your daughter is doing well also. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteNo problem with saying a prayer or two for your sweet daughter.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you have to deal with this at her age or any age really.
I pray there will be no cancer to even have to talk about it any longer in the name of Jesus Amen
Thank you so much for the beautiful prayer. So kind and appreciated. Our health is important...but when it's our children it's scary for us as parents. Bless your sweet heart, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh Susie....I know this must be so scary for you and especially for your beautiful daughter! Thought and prayers are with you. Hope all goes well! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you Betsy. My daughter called with good news...it's the same size as last scan so that is encouraging. She is relieved and so am I. :):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Sheri, Karen will make banana breads every once in a while and give one to Ted. He loves them. All my girls like to bake...but Karen takes goodies to work for her coworkers. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie
