I have left over photos...LOL...we all do, don't we? This is where I put a couple of the tiny white pumpkins, beside the birdy welcome.
Ted put the big wood box on the corner of the back deck, in preparation for winter (shh). I do not even want to think about it. Ted did rework this wood box. It had a flat top the last two winters and now it has a sloped one. It'll hold a weeks worth of wood.
On the opposite corner I placed a container plant. Ted decided to use a skid(1/2) as a step upon the deck . Works perfectly.
Here's Ted down in the wood bin , loading the wheelbarrow. He has already loaded his first load of wood in the box. When we first had the wood bin, I asked Ted to fence it in, I did not want everyone looking at that site. The fellow down the road has a huge pile of stacked wood as long as his drive at the garage and as tall or taller than his truck. He keeps a tarp over it.
A couple of those pretty days we had early this past week, the neighbor man had the barn doors open as he was harvesting corn. His uncle helps him at harvest and planting.
This is the outside wall of a restaurant where we met family for lunch one day. It's a beautiful mural. I should have stepped off the walkway and snapped this photo.
There was a lot going on in this mural. Cabin, boats, flying geese, and deer.
This is in Mulberry, Indiana. It's a restaurant and bar. The food was good. The service very nice. We might go again some time.
I am ready for some sunshine . Too many rainy days for me. Today is to be a bit sunny....that helps my mood. :) Bless all of you. XO
Wonderful memories you've kindled (oh, my, unintentional pun I guess) of having all that fine firewood ready to hand. We had a big rick under the slope of the patio, filled every Fall after we'd finished up the cookouts and patio meals. It was also covered in a big silver tarp, as were all the others over around the egg-barn where my first In-laws had had a big egg operation in the 60s.
ReplyDeleteSomehow just the sight of that silvery cloth glinting in the sunlight said "plenty" and "prepared" to me, and I loved having all those riches of comfort right to hand.

Racheld, I think my husband just loves sawing, chopping, and burning wood. To me it's dirty and hard work. LOL. But I will say that two winters ago, we really saved money on L.P. fuel. It was up to 5 dollars a gallon and we did not need any when the fuel truck came..we still had enough in the tank to hold off till prices dropped again. I do like having the wood handy at the back door. We put the ash in the burn ring and haul it to a friend garden in spring. Win-win there. Blessings to you, hope your day is a great one. xoxo, Susie
DeleteYour husband built a very nice fence for your woodpile! It's that time of year...getting ready for cold weather...we never know when it will be suddenly here!
ReplyDeleteLinda, Even though it's is just the beginning of Oct...it has snowed in Oct. before. I am truly hoping our winter will be delayed this year. I want to enjoy these cooler days without bad weather. LOL. Is that too much to hope . :):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat restaurant looks very nice. Hope your winter won't be TOO bad, if so, it will give you more time for blogging! Look on the bright side! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHi Kay, I am hoping we have a mild winter...it seems to last to long for me, the older I get. Hope you had a beautiful weekend. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love your wood areas. We also keep ours in stacks with tarps over them. I am thankful for the wood heat though in the winter. I don't like having it in the house as it makes such a mess.
ReplyDeleteCarol, I always worry about creepy crawlies being carried in with the wood. I do ask Ted to bang the wood around to knock things off if he sees anything like that. LOL. We have burned wood for 10 years now. In town we had gas logs in the fireplace. I like those too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, I am wondering why Ted doesn't keep the wood down in the wood bin and just get piles of it when needed? I guess he has better access at the wood box? I love seeing piles of wood all stacked up. My mother-in-law has stacked up wood at her house in the mountains. Oh, it's already starting to rain there! It's getting chilly here and starting to look like Autumn, Susie. Love your little white pumpkins. :)
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
Sheri, We have a wood box in the house that holds logs ...it's small . The one at the back door just saves us from walking thru snow to get it. Now on days when that box is empty, Ted will use the wheel barrow to haul the wood to the box on the deck. This might take 45 minutes or so. But seems to work for us. When it was in the basement...it was a lot more work carrying it down and back up the stairs. The sun just peeked thru a tiny bit today. I wore long sleeves all day. I went to visit my daughter Angie and had a coffee with some spicy creamer. So good. Glad you are starting to have some autumn . Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSeeing your wood pile brings back so many found memories of when we lived in the mountains new Lake Tahoe! Every weekend was spent cutting trees and hauling wood. Sweet photos! Blessings, Cindy xo
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, As you know ...wood burning is a job...it's the cutting, hauling, and stacking....then you do it all over again , only in smaller piles. LOL. Ted will never have to join a gym as long as we burn wood thru the winter. :) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGood Morning, Susie. Looks like you are prepared for winter. Everything looks functional and very neat. The mural is truly amazing. Just charming. We are very dry here in GA but at least our temps have cooled off. I wish you a blessed day. xoxo
ReplyDeleteMildred , there was foggy area thru out the state this morning. I am amazed at how many days we had fog this year. More than I can ever remember. Glad it cooled down in Ga. It was really chilly a few mornings here...and now it's going back into the 80's this week. Hope that is not our Indian Summer. :) Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI'm not ready to think about burning wood yet either, but I LOVE the warmth if provides. Blessings from Missouri!
ReplyDeleteOh me too honey...I like how warm the whole house feels when there a good fire going. I just hate the dust it creates when cleaning our the fire place.:( Hoping we all have a mild winter myself. LOL. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi Susie, Like you I don't want to even thing about winter. We got some rain last night, but it didn't last long. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Noreen
Noreen, I am not a big fan of winter any more. We get our shore of snows. I know you get way more than we do. This week is starting nice and quiet. :):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHow nice to have a week's worth of dry wood right outside your door....and a hubby to load it all up!! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I am glad Ted will be helping with the wood hauling and fires this year. I did most of it last year...cause he had a part time job that really was long days...and every weekend. He has since re-retired. LOL. Glad you are having some fall colors. It is just starting around here. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi Susie, You and your husband are really on top of it with your new deck, wood box, fall decorations and your lawn looks lovely. To me a beautifully manicured lawn is hard to beat. I am not looking forward to the winter winds blowing from your state into mine. Could you slow them down a little this year? I would certainly appreciate it. Ha! Ha! Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the winter winds whipping up at night seem frightening. I always wonder what the morning will be like when I hear it blowing . One consolation for Ted and I...we are retired and do not have to drive to work in nasty weather. I am hoping for a mild winter for all of us. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGotta have that wood ready - hold on winter is coming! :)
ReplyDeleteCarrie, I am going to hold on to fall as long as I possibly can. LOL. I am not a big fan of winter...especial when I worked and had to drive in it. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love stacks of wood and I loooove the wood box. I could actually find a lot of good uses for it rather than wood. Love your bird greeting with the pumpkins
ReplyDeleteBonnie, That box could hold outdoor toys too...but too heavy for a child to lift the lid. I have had that bird welcome for a very long time...I just update the birds colors with craft paint. :):) Bless you honey, xoxo, Susie
