Porch Decorations....

Here it is Thursday the 8th of December. Time is flying...it's almost Christmas...it's almost a new year. We had some branches from a birch tree , I ask Ted to cut them into small lengths, so I could bundle them. Tied up with a plaid ribbon and a piece of greenery .
I put this snowman sign in front of the plant stand. Popped in some fake poinsettias.
I put this skinny candy cane , a few birch logs, ,some faux flowers , and cutting from the pines into the planter at the steps.

I added this really old wooly scarf to the shutter with my new red truck sign. This old white toy truck belong to the neighbor man ,down the road....he gave it to me a couple years ago. I added a piece of fake greenery and red ribbon to it. Earlier I had craft painted to top of this porch table , in a dark barn red.
Thought you could see our tree from this spot. It's not a great photo, sorry.
I just had to show this magazine I bought at Jean's Flowers in Tipton. It was published in 1965. Titled American Youth. It's cover photo is a young couple on a ski lift. This was at a ski resort in Colorado Springs. I thought this would make a nice winter decoration...at the cheap price of 50 cents.
It is cold here this morning and the wind is fierce. Wind chill making it about 6 degrees. Going to be a cold weekend for most of the U.S.  We have a fire going and I am making a pot of soup for lunch.
Wishing you a great day. Stay warm. XO

    1. Good thinking on your batteries from the garden shed. I hope we can all make it thru this winter of polar vortexes. It is not looking good for the whole U.S. well not on the latest weather map. Stay warm and be safe on the roads. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

  7. I love your decorations! I wish I was a little more creative when it comes to things like this. I just do not have that decorator touch.
Soup sounds really good as it is cold and windy here today. I just seen a recipe for cheeseburger soup that I may try soon. No ideas for dinner here tonight.

    1. Carol, I have to try to be more creative...as I am trying to not buy more holiday décor. I still have more than I need. :) I have seen a recipe for that cheeseburger soup. It sounds good. A couple weeks ago I made some taco soup. It was really tasty. I had never made it before. Blessings to you, stay warm, so cold here. xoxo, Susie

    1. Debby, I just thought of something...you could just have brown logs and paint them white to look like birch...My porch table will probably weigh a ton ...I paint it all the time.:) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  9. Susie, your front porch decorations are delightful. How I wish I had a big front porch like this, lucky you. I like the idea of the birch tree branches bundled up with a red plaid bow, that's creative. Oh, it sure is cold there, Susie. Bundle up and stay warm. It's cold here and raining today, but I love it!

    1. Sheri, It's been so cold the last few days...I can't even stand on the porch..some times I like to stand out and just get fresh air and look around. I know at times a rainy day is peaceful. I just told Ted about your blue bike. He said what a cute story.:):) He remember what a sting-ray bike was like too. Blessings, love you, xoxo, Susie

  11. Interesting to think how old the young couple would be now and what a great decor item for 50¢! Thank you for the thoughts about safe driving. I white knuckled it for about ten miles this morning on black ice...yikes. 'Tis the season for that stuff, too.
