Weekend Things...

Well the fellow who farms the field across from us finally mowed his ditch. He hit the power pole which carries phone lines .  Hitting it once and it swayed, that was scary. There's a transformer on the top.
So he backs up and hits it again, cutting the phone lines.
He did not do such a good job mowing either.  My neighbors lost all their phone service. Thankfully I did not. This was on Saturday afternoon, so the kids next door will maybe get the lines repaired today.  The neighbor went out and told the fellow mowing what he had done and pointed it out. The fellow has the nerve to tell the neighbor then maybe you would like to mow this ditch .What gall !!  My neighbor told him he had a bad attitude and needed to be more careful.
In the mean time... something pretty has happened. I saw one clematis flower blooming, at the top of the plant. Our clematis is finished blooming in June and I have never seen one this late here.
It rained again yesterday.  We've been getting little pop up showers...although this one was a pop up storm. Some lightening and thunder.
I mostly did household chores this weekend. Plus some letter writing. Hope all of you had a good weekend and did some fun things. XO

  1. Wow about the farmer and his attitude. Sorry he hit the phone lines. I have a clematis that is huge and never flowers just gets the beautiful bush of leaves. Not sure if I have to do something with it to get it to bloom. It is big and healthy just never blooms. Any ideas???

    1. Kris, That farmer has been a crab a long time to just be in his 40's...we used to mow the ditch for him and he got mad that I piled the grass clippings around the pole...now we let him do hid own ditch. I looked up things about clematises...it said there are 300 species.. It did say it may that several years for the vine to flower vigorously. Also you could add some limestone and wood ash. I would try Miracle Grow. I know you have it on a trellis, right...thin wood laths or wire. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  2. We've been getting a lot of thunder storms here too Susie. I love thunder storms and so of course, I love it...my little dog however, does not.
That post took quite a beating from the mower. I wonder if he'll take it a little slower next time?
    Wishing you a great week!

    1. I like soft gentle rain or even a thunder storm that isn't heavy. I think our cat used to hate them too..she used to go to the basement.LOL. That farmer needs to do it right or hire a good farm hand to help him. What a Crabby Appleton...:):) The phone co. have already fixed it. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  4. He's lucky it was the neighbor who set him straight and not a knocked out transformer. Hope he learns to be more careful. Geez.
The clematis is so pretty. We had some of that at our old house.

  5. Sorry that your neighbor farmer is an idiot. Not nice at all...glad you didn't lose service. Geez, some people. I have not seem a clematis bloom this late, either! How nice is that? The autumn clematis has started blooming here. We re did the trellis for ours and cut it way back to get it off of the old trellis, so hoping it blooms next spring.

    1. BJ, We would still be mowing that ditch for the farmer if he had not be so rude about me raking the grass clippings around that pole to help kill weeds. Now he can just mow his own ditch. The phone company fixed the lines this morning. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Diane, The repairman said that is not good to be bumping a pole with a big old transformer on top..could be very dangerous. Glad your weekend was nice. Bless your heart, xoxo,Susie

  9. We could use a good thunderstorm around here! I wouldn't mind a little bit of lightning to go with it!! Actually I would love anything to break up this 38 days without rain and hot temps. At least it hasn't been 100+ this week!!
We have a big telephone pole with a big trandformer on top right next to our gazebo in the back yard. The big bush that kept it hid has died and not it is just so VISABLE!! I wonder if I could decorate it with some debris like I did our insulated water faucets??

    1. Linda, It has been a crazy year for weather...I know it's been the same for you...either too much rain or not enough. Those temperatures you are having there are way too hot. We have two ugly pole in our yard they are in the fence line that helps. The one the farm rammed is across the road but the transformer on it would cover our area. You are thinking right Linda, some times it's best to just incorporate the things we have not chose on right into our landscape. Blessing, love you, Susie

  10. So glad you didn't lose your phone service. Sad when people don't take responsibility for their actions!! Love the Clematis!

  11. Wow, that man really has an attitude problem. He seems to have a pretty big sense of entitlement. Apparently he was never taught that there are consequences for your actions. xo Laura

    1. Laura, That young man pretty arrogant. It's not his land , he rents it to farm , so I think he could care less. My neighbor, who normally is so calm...may have got a point across. Hope so. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  12. Oh my gosh, this is really one of the prettiest flowers I've seen, Susie. The color is exquisite, a deep purple. I'm not familiar with the clematis, but it sure is a lovely one. Great picture, and my favorite color.
