Have You Ever......

.....ever , had a week you were glad to see it end ??? This was one for me. Thankfully I did have Joy in most of it...cause I count my blessings. Had to reschedule Monday's  dentist appointment till Thursday . That ended up well( I guess). The dentist picked and  probed and x-rayed, said there was nothing wrong. (Awkkk) Still calling it sensitivity . I will have to have it x-rayed again in July when I get my cleaning. OK ..that will be good.
Tuesday afternoon, I found an ant on the table !!!!. I got rid of him...then sat down on the sofa and there were  two on the cushion with me and two on the end table....I am instantly insane.  I get rid of those and go searching for more.. I find them near the fireplace., about seven more . Then I think , there's three small logs still in the wood box. Thinking that's where they are coming from, I take that wood out, I do not see any more ants..but I spray Raid anyway. I get up twice in the night to see if anymore are around. No...good. I go Wednesday to get my mammogram and bone density scan. Wow, so lucky, in and out in half an hour. ....because the scan room and mammogram area are side by side.  I beat it home and call the pest control. They set up to come Thursday at two. So as I told you I went to the dentist., Thursday morning,.The timing was good.
The young bug-man comes , he is  so polite and professional. (refreshing). Treats the house inside and out. Told us it was just ants..not the dreaded carpenter ants. (Blessing) Ted and I had just put out all the mulch before he got there. Now it is raining on and off the whole day. While the fellow sprayed, it did not rain. He said as long as it was not a downpour...it would work and once it dried it would be better. As soon as he leaves it rains a bit. Later it rains more , stops and rains again later. Then In the night we had thunder storms. Mild.  Today I got my blood work finished. You know that cholesterol check.   No ant sightings so far.  Right now I really do not have anything stressful  to dwell on. Hooray !!!!
Looking forward to this weekend. Hope all of you can enjoy your weekend also.  XO

  1. Those little pesky ants come to our house about this time every year too and I also freak out over them. It drives me nuts trying to get rid of them. They like it by my favorite chair. A friend said they don't like peppermint, so I fixed a bottle of water with drop of peppermint oil and spray every time I see them. And then the Terminix man comes and sprays and tells me the same thing. Thank goodness they aren't carpenter ants. And he is impressed about the peppermint oil.

    1. Nonnie, I think the peppermint oil is suppose to work for spiders too. Plus wouldn't it just make things smell good. :):) I have never had ants in my house before...but they scare me because of their large numbers and how they can go anywhere. Yikes. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. I thought about you going to the dentist,, I know you were nervous,, I'm so glad it went well, I had a tooth bothering me, thought it was serious, turned out my teeth were sensitive from clenching them at night, I started wearing a night guard and no more pain!!
I love summer but I hate ants too!!

I sure did not want to wait to long to get those ants...you know they can take over. I have never had them in my house before. Ewwee...can stand that. I have not seen any since Wednesday...other than when we were mulching. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

My gosh, I looked on line about ant species. It was so scary....they are so many different kinds. My hair was standing on end when I finished. LOL. Hope you have a great weekend. 4. Susie, I'm wondering if the ants came around because of the rain? I do hope that you get the ant problem figured out, that's such a bother. I haven't seen them at our new house yet, but I did sometimes see a trail of ants at our old houses. Hang in there, Susie.......it's good that you put the logs outside. Maybe that's where they were coming from. :)

A nice and restful weekend to you, Susie.

    1. Sheri, I think the rains do make the ants move around more. I usually just see them out side by the brick walkways. Yes, I have warned Ted about never bringing any creatures in with the wood. But it's almost impossible. These were what is called odorous ants..isn't that an odd name. They like sweets...so they must have been after Ted, cause girl I sure was not sweet when I found them. LOL. Blessings to you for a fun filled weekend, xoxo, love, Susie

  5. Ants are everywhere in this house. So hard to get rid of them. We have found the Terro traps work the best. They work for about 60-90 days then you have to change them out. But they do get rid of the critters.

So glad your dentist visit went well. It's a bothersome but necessary visit.

  11. And after finding more and more friends, with "icky" things happening to them, of late.... Well, I came back to tell you why.

At least, why I think these things are happening... It's the Full Moon Effect.

Now I love Full Moons! But some of them, have "effects," which are total bit*h*s! That is the only way to say it.

And from what I am seeing, this Full Pink Moon, is one of them.

Laugh if you want, but don't say, you haven't been warned. >,-))) -gigggles-

    1. Tessa, I do believe in odd things going on in a full moon . You know those Indians did too. The past week it was in the 80's after we had a lots of rain....every thing is in full swing for spring..you can almost watch the trees leaf out. This weekend is to be mostly sunny here and milder temperatures...at least not 80's. Enjoy yours. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

  12. I am so sorry you had ant visitors!!! We keep insecticide mixed in one of those professional sprayers and it stays handy where we can get to it when we see bugs! Living life as we do with windows and doors - mostly the doors - open, we get a lot of visitors!!! Most of the bugs are belly up by the time we find them!
You are so funny!!! Glad your dental and mammo appointments are done! I go next week for mine!

  13. Just seeing a few ants drives me nuts! Glad the man was courteous. About your sensitive tooth, have you tried Arm & Hammer sensitive toothpaste. It works very well for me - better than Sensodyne. I'm not crazy for the taste but it helps the pain. You have had quite a week. I hope you can rest and do something pleasant this weekend. Lovely photos you shared here. xo

    1. Mildred, You are like me there. When I see ants, I think"colony" which equals many. So I have never had ants in my home. I have always warned my children, grandkids and even Ted, about dropping crumbs or leaving anything food wise lying around. It's a no-no in my house. I am going to look for that tooth paste brand. I am going to CVS today. Thank you for that hint. Blessings to you and John, hope you are doing well. xoxo, Susie

  14. My God, Susie...we have lived the same hell this week. I started to notice the carpenter ants in all different areas of my house. I get ant trap as I have the dogs and a bird and a little bit of inhalation of the professional poison is deadly for them. The traps truly work. And I keep poison hidden for the mice that aways make it in my home...not the kitchen, weird places like my closets and the family room! They paid a visit today. I have the mammogram and bone density prescriptions and I'm putting them off. Gulp.

I spread grass seed (very expensive) all over my bare spots (a whole bag-$66). I knew it was going to rain but I didn't think it would puddle and wash away the seed. It did. So disgusted. Arguments with hubby and both daughters. I have a headache and I'm sick to my stomach.

So, I've now spoiled your idea that I'm a jolly good person!

Hope next week is better for both of us.

    1. Oh sweet Blondie girl, you are just human. I try not to sweat the small stuff...but some times it has a way of piling up on us. :( I nag at Ted about bringing that "free" trash mulch home. But I told him today it looks better once it was rained down. LOL It is nothing I would have wanted. I think sprinkling a bit of dirt or sand over grass seed help hold ...usually birds will eat it. Dang that was expensive seed too. Don't worry about arguing with the family, you are a great cook and they are going to be hungry some time. LOL. We can't always be Pollyanna, can we? Two of my sisters can take the shine off my day at times. :) In my book, you are still a jolly good person. Bless your heart, xoxo, Susie
p.s. Get those tests done and over with.

  15. Susie, it sure sounds like a full week. I'm glad the ants weren't carpenter ants, and that you got rid of them. Each fall our house gets sprayed for those dreaded Asian beetles. It's worth every penny. Hope you have a good weekend free of pests and tests. xo

    1. Judy, Thankfully Ted has always spray outside on the foundation and inside in the basement. That's why we have never had some things before. My daughter had those fake lady bugs before when she lived in town. They would get in the house at times and she would swat and spray. someone told to keep a fan running toward her doors when they were bad. ?? I think the ants are bad because of the rains. I do feel blessed that it wasn't those dreaded carpenter ants.Blessings, xoxo, Susie
