More Photos ......

I will say I loved this shop.  More from the outside. :)  The bottom floor had lots of  silk flowers and small decorating plants.  Shelves of knick knacks. The upper floor had furniture.  I will tell of this one table. Made of recycled wood (rough finish, looked like an old garage door) painted white, big and heavy...it would take ten men and a mule to lift it, asking price $1900.00  I told Ted, "we are in the wrong area".  Ted has made some beautiful things of wood and all together never made this kind of money.
This is the shop called , "The Clothesline". Very cute name.
This is inside that shop. I was amazed it was selling clothing that I would associate with a beach resort.
This is a basic t-shirt style. Pretty and artsy looking.
I will apologized to anyone who owns a small shop....I think this is over priced. Now I may be saying this since I have sewn clothing and know how basic this style is to make. I don't think it was a one of a kind.
This is in the aisles(lobby) of Das Dutchman Essenhaus.  Outside all the eating areas are displays of every kind.  I really like the big display cabinet.:)
This is a cute and clever idea for a kid's room. It's made of wood but in the shape of school lockers.
Another big display cabinet loaded with china and home decorating items.
The colors were so pretty. I wish I had bought that lavender dish on top of the stack.
This platter was so prefect. The little stand that is holding it is made of metal with a leaf and a bird in front. Sweet. I have a few more pictures of the grounds for tomorrow.  Speaking of the grounds....the grounds keepers we saw were Amish women in the dresses and wellies, digging the flowerbeds and removing sod. I am not used to seeing women gardening in dresses and bonnets. Nothing new to these ladies I am sure.
Hope all of you are staying warm here in the Midwest. I some of you are well into your spring with warm days. We should be by this time next week.  Enjoy today. XO

    1. Janet, I would not pay that for a shirt even when I was working. I am a total sales shopper...I raised four daughters ..had to be. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  3. Thank you for your visit to my blog!!!

Me'thinks this place is one of those "Faux Amish" places. Which push expensive items, because of the ambiance. (or something)

I'd get the feeling, that I was being fleeced. ,-) Those prices!

I will go farther, because I am suspicious. -grin- Wonder if those Amish Women Grounds Workers, were the Real Thing?????? Or just part of the ambiance? To help the sales along. ,-)

    Gentle hugs,
    Tessa

    1. I wonder about some of the Amish there...as you never see the farmer Amish running in and out of those stores. They can have a parade of Amish come thru and no I am not buying that t-shirt. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. BJ, I do way more window shopping than ever. What do I need. I do like to look at what's in fashion and think of my own closets full of the same thing. An occasional new knick knack is fun. MY thing is stationary. LOL. Blessings, hope your son is doing well. xoxo,Susie

  5. This seems to be the typical "tourist" Amish place. We have quite a few of them in Lancaster County. But our prices are much lower than the ones you showed us. I often garden or do housework in a dress (or skirt). I wear them quite a bit, especially in the summer. I guess it isn't strange to me.

    1. Kathy, Are you Amish?...just kidding..since you said you garden in a dress. :):) I think I have worn jeans too many years. LOL. I swore when I retired I would burn all my working man blue clothes....but I am working harder retired. ..well at times. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  6. Cute, cute shop. I agree, the shirt was overpriced! I don't think I'd pay that much for a dressy top.

    1. Hi Linda, You know even if the top was a one of a kind ..that price is steep. I raised 4 daughters...so we always had to shop the sale racks...or make it. My daughter Kathy is a fine seamstress. I use to make all my girls some school close and lots of play outfits when they were little. Kathy would make entire wardrobes at times. LOL. I mostly was stnned to see beach looking things in North Indiana in Amish farm country. Blessings, hope you have some joy today. xoxo,Susie

    1. Nellie, I was shopping in the bakery first. You know apple butter, jams and jellies. Breads and rolls...Then I remembered I was trying to cut back on sweets so I didn't buy anything. It was fun to see all the things with birds on them. :) What would you buy shopping? Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  9. I agree with you about the top being way overpriced, and the table too! $1,900 for a table. Not for me. My mother did all her gardening in a dress or skirt and blouse. She never wore slacks or shorts as I was growing up. It wasn't until pantsuits came in style in the 70's that my mother finally caved and wore pantsuits, at which time she was probably about 40. She always looked nice, no matter what she wore.

    1. Nonnie, I guess the reason I thought wearing a dress gardening seemed odd...I have not seen it in years. My mom wore pedal pushers.haha, that just sounds so funny now. Ted mom must have worn dresses too, cause I do not know if she owned a pair of slacks. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  10. I don't think I've ever seen a lavender dish like that. How pretty. And I finally went to a neat store in the next town but the prices? Oh my! Too much! lol Hugs, Diane

    1. Diane, This would be the dish for you too...just your color. I saw lots of lavender and aqua colored things. I think once we know we can thrift shop...it's just seems silly to pay high dollar for things. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Hi Noreen, My daughter worte me an email and said it is a tourist attraction kind of place...that most Amish will take care of their own needs and their neighbors....not us outsiders. LOL Hope you are getting rested form your beautiful vacation. Bless you, xoxo,Susie

    1. There's a place near this town and it's called Shipshewana...it has open air flea market....but sells mostly stuff from china...they just lure people with the Amish factor. So sad. I did love that big platter. :) Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  13. So many things to see and enjoy.
Must be some "high rollers" who shop there
    with those prices.

    1. Yes, It's pricey there...they use the appeal of the Amish to lure people...it's not Amish made things. There are true furniture stores with Amish made things and some times you will see the quilts the women make. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  15. Isn't it amazing what some of these gift shops charge, Susie? I like to visit them for ideas and inspiration, but rarely take anything home. I guess that's my frugal side. You showed some great things, though. Hugs, Nancy

    1. Nancy, I just can't justify spending that amount of money on a simple tshirt style. Once you've sewn and know how cheaply you can make some thing it's difficult to spend big dollars. Thanks for visiting. Bless you, xoxo,Susie

  16. Today is kind of spring-ish in a wintery way and there is some snow coming on Monday.
I have to stop myself from buying things on impulse. A lot of which I just got rid of using a junk removal service.
Keep the pictures coming. I love seeing pictures of where other people live.

    1. Sheri, I liked that big clock too...but I did not even look at the price. I just didn't buy anything. I was going to buy some bakery things and remembered I was backing off sugars...so I did not even get any bread or apple butters. You sound like my daughter Kathy...she has always talked of having a shop or booth in a shop. She's so talented at sewing and crafting. I will show the scarf she made me . Bless you, love, xoxo,Susie
