Starting This Week....

This Monday is a great day.  Started very cloudy, cleared more as the day went along.. So I put the little walking stone out,  that  a gentleman make and sold at the farmers' market.  I bought this two years ago. It's a hummingbird drinking from the red flower. Sorry it came out upside down.
The lilac that I started from my mother's lilacs in town. When my mother passed away in 2006 I dug up some little starts and they have grown into this  pretty bush. I was taking a picture of it from the porch and saw a butterfly land in it.
So I go take a shot of all it's beauty.  So pretty, I love butterflies.
I pulled the branch down closer and took his picture and I don't think he even knew.
Then I find a little viola that has planted itself, near a black eye susan  . I am seeing lots of these free violas around the flower beds.  It's like a wee gift.
The temperatures here have been in the 70's. It never got to 80 yesterday, as predicted.  Rain coming for about the rest of this week.  I hope all of you are enjoying the start of this week. XO

    1. Laurie, Other high humidity some days seem summery. I do not care for 80 degrees this early...well ever. LOL. I am a 70's kind of person. I just hate that it's still snowing there and other place also. Seems so late in the year. I do remember walking home from school in April and my hair had ice in it when I got home. LOL. Blessings, stay warm and safe. xoxo, Susie

    1. Diane, The little fellow was named Topmmy that made that stone. He could make them any color or design you would like. He made one for my daughter with their family name on it. He was such a sweetie. Blessings to you for a fun week. xoxo, Susie

I saw a beautiful butterfly yesterday, instead of yellow and black it was orange and black, flitting here and there.
    Pretty Viola, sweet little plants.

  4. Hi Susie, I love seeing your garden and I adore Lilac's-in fact, hope to get one for the back yard in a couple of weeks. I too love Violets, especially when they crop up on their own. You lucky girl you to have such warm days-our weather today has been cold and we are to get rain all week.
    Have a good evening.

    1. Noreen, One of my favorite memories is sitting having coffee by the telephone chair with the window open and the scents of lilacs coming thru the window....it was early on a Saturday and my girls were still in bed sleeping. I guess it was the feeling of contentment and knowing my children were safe. Yesterday eneded up nice all day long, the sun is out again this morning but real heavy rains coming our way. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. What a precious thing to have that lilac bush that was your mom's. That is just so special, it makes me tear up thinking about it. I just lost my mom and I want to dig up one of her gardenia bushes. I will do it soon. Great post.

    1. Hi Nancy, So sorry to read about the loss of your mother. It's hard for me even now after almost 10 years. When my mom moved to the house with the lilacs, there were irises too. So those became her two favorite flowers. I hope you do get some of your mom's gardenias. It will be special to you always. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

    1. Thank you Patty. If I ever move from here, I'll have to take some starts from this lilac bush, because the people who bought mom's old house tore every lilac out. That was sad. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  9. The lilac bush is gorgeous! Such a sweet memory and the butterfly is so special. I love seeing them too. We're under a tornado watch & severe storms this evening. Ugh!

I'm sorry I haven't been around more...kinda had a difficult time for awhile. Hope you're having a blessed week sweet friend!

    1. Missy, I was feeling warm yesterday and today I have felt chilled. Our temperatures must be running similar to yours. Crazy isn't it? I thought it was early for butterflies...but I guess not. Hope you and the pets are enjoying some out door time. I just have to get out when I can.. I like to walk around the yard even. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  11. Hi Susie, the little fairies must be at work in your garden. Beautiful shot of the butterfly. They are so pretty. Everyone said that we couldn't transplant lilacs, but you did and my bush first started out as a suckling in Santa Cruz. We did it! Happy Week to you..Judy

    1. Judy, I was surprised to see butterflies so early. I always think of them as a summertime thing.Oh I am glad those little bit of my mom's lilac took in my yard. My daughter went and got a tiny start when we heard the lady that bought mom's house was taking all the lilacs out.It made me sad...but my daughter and I have at least started some more bushes. Glad you have yours too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  13. So glad you had some nice weather today ! Love your stepping stone...so beautiful! I have a Red Hat one that someone gave me a few years ago. Not sure where I can put it, where I can enjoy it! But certainly not as beautiful as yours!! Oh, don't you just love those volunteer violas? They just make me smile every time I see them!

    Bless you..

    1. Gert, I put my stone near the hummingbird feeder. Yes, I love those sweet violas...they are as hardy if not more so than a pansy. It's funny where they grow...no where I ever planted any of them. LOL. Hope you are doing well. I sure wish we could all have nice weather ...I am so ready for it. Blessings, xoxo, love you, Susie

  14. Susie, that butterfly is a beauty. I still haven't got a good picture of the butterfly, as they fly away too quickly. I can smell the lilacs from here. That's nice that you planted some of your mom's lilacs in your yard. You see those little violas all over the place. Wasn't one growing between the sidewalk? I hear it may rain just a bit here too, Susie.

    Enjoy the week.

    1. Sheri, If that butterfly had not been enjying the lilacs so much, I could have never gotten his photo. His yellow and black color made him stand out on the lilacs. Yes, I have been finding those little violas in strange places. I did plant some a couple years ago in some pots...so their seeds had planted by the bees and winds. Blessings to you for a nice end of this week. We did get rain last night and this morning(Friday). Bless you, love, xoxo, Susie
