Up North.....

Honk ! Honk !  Out of the way Sunday driver !!   :):) I am half afraid to pass these Amish cars.
Some back roads you meet them coming and going.  This is Amish farm lands.
I just feel in love with the shed at the Essenhaus Hotel. The water wheel has a small pond under it and I think a pump will have water flowing over the wheel in warmer weather.
My daughter Kathy on the foot bridge near the hotel.  This is a very well cared for frontage.
Geese in this bigger pond. A wee covered bridge in the distance.
Sorry this is as far as my lens will bring the bridge into view. It's that red splotch. LOL
This barn is near my daughter's house. I love it.  It is pretty in every season.
Yikes...it's Jack and Sam...the  barking beagles. Quiet boys !! I think they can hear a can opener  a  mile away.
This is at the back of Kathy's house. It's one of her flower gardens. This one is a beach theme. The little house is for the cats.  Kathy has some very pretty places to plant and putter in here.
This old bench is made from drift wood.  There's raised veggie beds around the corner.
This is one of Kathy's views from her yard. It's a water channel off the St. Joe river. Lots of pretty birds around here. Kathy is absolutely wild for birds. She feeds them too. :):) OK , no more pictures of my little get away to my daughter's.  I just wanted to use up all my photos.
Wishing everyone a great weekend.  Hope your weather is warm. XO

  1. What a beautiful water view, your daughter has. Oh that must be delightful, in any/all weather or season.

Our family next door has a rescued beagle mix. 'Lilly' doesn't bark, except when someone unknown comes around.

She is inside most of the time, so she is "the door bell." :-)

    Gentle hugs,
    Tessa

    1. I never thought about lack of wires. LOL....My daughter here in town , lives in an area with buried utilities. Makes it seem more open. I love to see the farms where Kathy lives...but get tense if too many buggies are on the road. :) Blessings, xoxo, hoping for a warm up. Susie

  4. I love Amish country Susie! My grandparents lived in Ohio and we used to visit Amish farms and shops! Gorgeous farms and the women made THE most beautiful quilts. Just lovely photos today! Thank you for letting us visit too!

    1. Betsy, My daughter says the quilts are most likely what is truly made by the Amish...not the pottery or furniture. Although the amish are fine craftsmen and do make great furniture...it was not in those shops I saw. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Hi Nonnie, Those poor beagles are over weight. My daughter says they are on a diet. I think Mark gives them too many snacks. ...and not enough walks. We had a beagle when my daughters were small...we all loved that dog. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  6. There is a real knack to driving a car on the same street as an Amish buggy. Since I am there all the time I've learned how to do it. I always say you can tell the tourists from the locals by the way they drive. Ha, ha! Your pictures are so beautiful and your daughter has a lovely place. I would love to live that close to some water. Have a good day!

  10. Well that's certainly different from where I live though there are lots of parkland, two lakes and the river but all you have in my neighborhood are people, houses and cars.

  14. What a pretty area! And it looks like spring has finally come. The Amish I'm familiar are very careful and accommodating. They know they're holding up traffic and try to pull over. Enjoy your weekend, Susie. Hope it's wonderful! xo

I like to see the nice yards and gardens too. I respect them by not taking their pictures...they do not like their faces in photos. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

  21. Hi Susie! Your daughter sure lives in a lovely area! Looks like her yard and gardens will be so nice. I'm fairly new to being close to Amish communities. There are some up here and I couldn't believe it when I saw the Amish road sign. Instead of deer, or horse crossings, it was the Amish buggy! :) Now those little beagles look so scary! No! :) thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,

    1. Shelia, The beagles know me but not well. I always let them calm down and let them sniff the back of my hand with my fingers curled tight..so if they would try to bite they don't bite your finger off. They were okay once they knew who it was. I likes to putter in her gardens...hopefully next week we all can. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
