Lots To Do....

Ted and I went to Liz and Matt's to cut up a tree in the neighbor's yard.  We were greeted by Sam, the big slobbery dog. LOL. He loves us and gets excited to see us.
Even Ozzy the cat, came to sit  and watch us for a bit.
Ted put his wood cutter chaps on . These are for safety. Matt has a pair too.
Ted marks the tree every 16 inches....for log length.  You can see that Sam  has to be with us.  I thought I would be helping Ted, but Matt made it home in time to help.
This is one pile of wood from the limbs of the tree...It's a beech tree.  You get a lot of BTU's from this wood.
So with Matt helping Ted, I go visit the chickens. Samson the rooster crowed almost the whole time we were there.
This is some pictures of our mums here at our house.
Plus some black eyed susans. The flower looks so pretty but the leaves have black spots on them.
This is the corn field across the road from Liz's house.  As the fellows cut wood, I cleaned the garage and washed a ton of dishes. Then I trimmed some small trees saplings from Liz/Matt's yard. Ted and Matt cut the neighbor's tree up into chunks and then split some of it. When they came in they both were soaking wet from sweat.  They wiped off and changed t-shirts and we went to the local café for lunch. It's a working man's place so many men were sweaty and dirty. :):)
Ted and I had to come on home....as Ted got word from one his little brother, that his older brother Cliff was in the hospital from having a stroke.  Cliff's moving , can move both sides, trying to talk, somewhat confused and edgy. Prayers would be so greatly appreciated. Please.
Hope you are all well. I will fill you in on my "root canal" soon.  XO

    1. Shelia, My SIL 's neighbor gave him the tree for firewood. Matt shared with us...so he and TEd work on wood together...but I thought I would have to help today. I ended up helping my daughter cause she had worked a double at the nursing home. I laugh whenever I hear that rooster. I really like hearing it. He acts so bossy and mean too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Kathy, Last year's winter was mild and we were thankful. So Ted and Matt help each other gather wood for the winters. That neighbor's tree will be good this next season. Cliff is doing well but is angry that he is having trouble speaking. Thank you for the prayers, we appreciate them.Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Thank you Judy. We are hoping for the best for Cliff. He's such a good man. I don't mind stack wood...but not crazy about being in on the cutting. Although I have done some before. I like our little electric chain saw...and Ted does not use it cutting thru big trees. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  10. So sorry to hear about Ted's brother. I hope he has a full recovery. I was soaked with sweat today too from working in beehives getting ready to extract honey. Lots of work. I think I'm going to change directions next year. I'm Tired Susie!

    1. Cindy, I wish I could help you with the honey. :):) It has to be a bit warm doing that since you wear protective gear. I almost over heated yesterday. I just get carried away at Liz's...cause she works so much...she has so much to do at home. Dishes to the ceiling, or so it seemed. LOL. Their garage is always in disarray...so I help pile store stack and swept it. Then cut mulberry trees out of some flowerbeds. then shoveled their gravel back into the driveway at the end. I was flat wore out and my ankles hurt this morning. Blessings to you sweet honey girl. xoxo, Susie

That was a serious bunch of firewood!!!
Your Ted is so handy. Is there anything he can't do??
It's hot in Texas! So hot that it was after 10:00 before Louis Dean could even go out to water tonight.
Wish we lived closer - LD made 65 cinnamon rolls this afternoon! We sure would give you some!!!

So I washed about every dish she owns.LOL. Then organize(somewhat) the garage. Then cut mulberry trees out of her flowerbeds, then shovel gravel from the road back into the driveway. 14. Prayers for Cliff! You sure got a lot of wood for this winter. Tell me about these chaps. I haven't cut wood for burning in years, and have never seen anything like them. We just wore jeans to cut and I split in shorts...probably not the safest. Have a good day.

    1. Thank you Tete for the prayers. Ted and my son-in-law gather wood together...share the work and the wood. Those wood cutter chaps are from, Elven, Echo and Husqvarna. They run between 60 to over 100 dollars. You could still cut yourself...but the material of these chaps may stop the chain ..I just know Ted wears them and all the other safety gear. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  17. Wow-That tree was a big project to undertake. That was nice of you to do dishes and clean up trees, etc. You are a good soul, Susie. I am so sorry about Ted's brother. I will pray for Cliff...stroke is just such a terrifying thing for the patient. If their mind remains intact they are horrified by what they are unable to do so become anxious and depressed. God bless him and his family and you, too. xo Diana

    1. Thank you Katie. Cliff's just being taken care of with meds for now. No surgery on the carotid artery. That tree is just part of the wood my daughter's family will use and us also. We burn wood thru the winter to cut heating costs. The heat is making keeping flowers alive a job. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  19. Susie, your post was like a breath of fresh air for me, as my days are hectic leading up to the wedding. So sorry to hear about Ted's brother. I'll be sure to say a prayer for him, Susie. Look at all that wood piled up. It makes me long for a fireplace on those cold days. Your black-eyed Susans are so lovely, but you have to get rid of the black spotted leaves or they may spread. That's a chore for sure.

  20. The neighbor behind my sisters house took down two trees a couple of weeks ago. While I understand a home owner doing this, fearing damage from storms to their home and others homes but they provided some nice shade to my sisters back yard. Of course her back yard is a postage stamp compared where you live.
I wish Cliff a speedy recovery and I want to thank you Susie for your visits to my blog. I appreciate it.

    1. Boston Boy, That is exactly why we never finished cutting down our hickory tree. The whole top's gone but there' enough limbs for some shade still. That make s huge difference too. I love visiting your blog...how else am I going to learn about Boston things. :):) Thank you for the good wishes for Cliff. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  21. Goodness that's a big tree and a lot of firewood! We have a tree about that size in the yard. I've never seen wood cutting chaps used before- good idea! Dan has told me stories about how a chain saw can kick back and things can go wrong quickly.

    1. Liz, The chaps have a fiber in them that can stop the cahin from running thus less chance of a serious injury. There's so many terrible things that can happen if people do not put safety first. No amount of firewood or tree clearing can replace a life or limb. So I am happy my Teddy Bear is safe. :):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
