Yesterday the clouds were gathering in the afternoon.
Started to look like it really was going to rain.
I hurried to get a picture of these roses. I thought if it rains it will beat them down.
Finally at 5:20 , it did start to rain. A quick and heavy rain for about 10 minutes.
It did stop for a bit then rained some more.
We are having the lawn treated for nimblewill and crabgrass...but there were many dry spot from lack of rain. The ground was soaking the rain right up.
What do you get when it's hot and it rains....well this morning we had fog.
It was much thicker when I first looked out this morning.
One more rose bud, and the roses were still there...the rain did not tear them down.
I did find a piece of fern in the yard, I stuck it into the little watering can I keep on the porch. I have no plans for today. I will do my regular everyday chores. I will get a birthday card in the mail , for my sister Brenda. Since I am going to the dentist first thing on Monday morning . Not much happening here and for now that is fine.
We have a busy week coming up. We will have to get the driveways ready for sealing. That means trimming some of the pachysandra back for the edges. Moving some things off the front drive. Our neighbor said we can park in their farm drive for a day. That will help . They are getting their house drive done by the same crew.
Enjoy your weekend . XO
Ooooohhh. Love those pics of the roses and the clouds and the fog. Enjoy your day. You do have a busy week. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteHi Nonnie, I hope your weekend is fun . We did need our rain ...the fog is another thing. That rose bush is my daughter Kathy's. It just never seems to want to grow big...but gives me some pretty roses every year. The first year here it grew 4 roses and Ted said there was one for each daughter. :):)_ Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYour roses are beautiful and I love the pictures of the fog. I've never been able to capture fog that well. Glad to hear your eye is doing better. Hope it continues to improve.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy, I am glad my eye is better too. I think it's an allergy thing. Because it does not itch or water and is not matted in the mornings. That little rose bush grows the prettiest roses...but not ever very many. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeletePretty please send us some rain, we need it so badly! I want it so much I like your foggy pictures better than anything! LOL. xx
ReplyDeleteKay, I like fog photos too. I really like them in town with the street lights. I hope you get some rain. I mean it fest or famine. We were in dire need of that rain. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteBusy time coming up. We could use some nice, gentle, all day rain. Things are very dry. What are you planning on doing with the fern? -Jenn
ReplyDeleteJenn, At this time lots of areas are in need of rain...seems it is too much or not enough. I just thought the fern look like a flower...might clip a couple black eyed susans and add to it. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLovely pictures and nice report on daily living.
ReplyDeleteLinda, You can see that some of my days are just plain days...which are welcomed after the doctor trips I had this week. LOL. Hope your Saturday was a great day. Hugs to you and Bob. xoxo, Susie
DeleteThese pop up showers do cool off the evenings for us. Lovely photos. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteKaren, It was a bit cooler here today...so I decided to cut back my tiger lilies..wow, I was plenty warm doing that chore. :) I checked our rain gauge and we got 1/2 inch of rain....that was good. Hope your Sunday is a beautiful day. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, we've had so much rain this summer. I was happy at first because of needing the grass to grow in our new place until I realized they must have planted weeds. Weeds for days! Any suggestions???
ReplyDeleteBonnie, So sorry you've had so much rain...it's sad some places really need it. I too thought we had a lot of rain just last month..doesn't take long for these hot temperatures to turn things around. You might be able to pull weeds out , root and all if the ground is wet enough. There's a good weed killer recipe on line...1 Gal. vinegar, 1 Cup salt, and 2 T.spoons dish soap.... spray on the weeds. Good luck. Oh I remember now you have a whole new yard of dirt from building...you need a pro. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, I love rain and don't see nearly enough of it! Loved your photos! Gorgeous atmospheric sky and fog photos.
ReplyDeleteJean, I wish the rain could be evenly spread around. It's hard to see those forest fire in one part of our country and floods in others. Around here I can get great sky pictures..well at times. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

ReplyDeleteHi Susie, I am visiting you through Kathy's site. I noticed that you live in Indiana. I live in Ohio about 9 miles from the Indiana line. (Greenville) Tipton sounds familiar. Are you near Winona Lake? I went to college there.(Long ago) I enjoyed reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by. Our town of Tipton is just 50 miles north of Indy. I have been to Lake Winona with my daughter, we attend the art festival there. My granddaughter lives in Cincinnati. Hope your weekend is a great one. Come visit again please. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWow, Susie...what great photos to tell your story! Your yard is gorgeous! Mine is so yucky looking...(Tom would have been very upset...) But that heat without rain really took its toll on it. Hope your weekend is good!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Gert
Gert, It hard to get out in this heat to keep the yard looking good. I am glad Ted loves mowing with his zero radius turn mower. I don't do that. I would had mow...geech that would take forever out here. We got a 1/2 inch rain and I know that will help our lawn. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYour roses are gorgeous ♥

thank you Summer. I only have two rose bushes. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteDon't you just Love rain?! We Finally got some a couple of nights ago. It only lasted a few minutes but it came down hard! Hoping to get a little tonight! Love your photos, especially that cute little bud! Blessings, Cindy xo
ReplyDeleteCindy, I will say this, when it finally rained I did stand on the porch and sniff in the wonderful smell of the rain as it hit the dusty roads and recalled that scent from my childhood. I have always loved that smell. That little rose came along just in time. I think there won't be many more. Blessings,. xoxo, Susie
DeleteLove your roses and all of your pics. Now that August is here I'm wondering how many foggy mornings we'll have. the old saying is, how many foggy mornings in August means that many snows come winter. LOL Blessings and hugs, xo
ReplyDeleteYikes, Susie, I have never heard that one...well so far then we will have one..because it was foggy again this morning, the 1st of August. :):) I have been thinking of you losing your neighbor friend. We can really get attached to people, so I know you must miss her and will at some of the oddest times. too. Some times I see the neighbor boy , he is driving now and his grandpa passed away about 4 years ago...I know they loved each other so I often think of them . Blessings, xoxo, love you, Susie
DeleteLove the pictures of your pretty roses. We are getting about the same weather. Those short but heavy rains. Good for the flowers and grass with all the heat we have had. Have a super great week Susie.
ReplyDeleteKris
Susie, how I love rainy days. I can't believe you're getting a little rain in the summer! Your porch is so charming, and I smile every time I see that green and groomed lawn. Ted sure does keep it nice looking. I hope your day at the dentist wasn't too bad.
