Would you like a root canal , or a poke in the eye with a sharp stick?? I know, yikes, neither !! I am showing some pretty pictures...well because I need them , after the day I had . My dentist has finally realized my sensitivity is actually the need of a root canal. I went in on Monday. He doesn't do those, he recommends another dentist....in another town.
So yesterday my appointment was for 2:45. I get the day going by watering flowers and deadheading. Rake some dry patches in the lawn to see what was up with that. Bring the trash can from the road, to the garage.
Sweep the porch. Come inside and sweep the kitchen. Do breakfast dishes. Then have lunch. After lunch, I get showered and ready for my appointment. I think my eye looks red ...now this is after I rubbed my eye . I look at it again later. Thinking, maybe it's pink eye . I look it up on line. LOL. Then I call the dr. They tell me to come in soon. So I call the dentist, tell them what is happening.....they tell me to stay away. (HA) You know, as if I were covered with cooties.
I go to the new young doctor . He has the nurse to get something to numb my eye for a dye check to see if I have scratched my cornea. They put drops in and the dye, check for scratches...say I have none and that they do not think it's pink eye...no matting, itching, or watering. Young doctor say you should go see your "eye" doctor.( DOH) So off I go to the eye doctor. He says no scratches and he didn't think it was pink eye either. Orders eye drops. By now my eye is beet red and irritated....plus dilated. I go to CVS for eye drops..
Come home, reschedule root canal. Use eye drops. Hours later my eye is still dilated. So I call eye dr. they say call young dr. I call they are done for the day. I call eye dr. again, just to get a general idea of how long my eye will be dilated. They say hours, maybe days. DAYS !!!
I get up in the middle of the night and check my eye...it's a bit swollen, red also. This morning. It's red and I use the drops and it feels better but red and still dilated.
At 8:30, young doctor calls me. (What ?) He asks how I am doing. I tell him everything the eye dr. did and said. I told him eye dr. was to send him a small report. So I ask the young dr. how long will my eye be dilated. He says... They put the wrong drops in my eye, I was never to be dilated , just numbed. Haussenpheffers.(Cuss words)
So now I am staying in, treating this as if it were pink eye to be safe. When I think of what all I went thru....I would have rather had the root canal. At least that would be over ...but no, now I get that done on Monday. Waaaa. Thanks to all my blog family and friends for letting me whine. LOL...I feel much better. :):)
It's a smidge cooler here. Hope you are having a great day. Sending prayers and good wishes for all in need . XO
Oh for heaven's sake!!! After all that you are allowed to whine. I hope everything goes better for you today. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteJenn, I think some times we need to whine. LOL. I call it letting off steam. If I were a steam boat , I could have gone up and down the Mississippi twice yesterday. LOL. Know what I am saying. :):) Blessings to you today, xoxo, Susie
DeletePoor Susie. I will take a root canal over a poke in the eye with a stick. But geez, what a day! Bless your heart and hoping your eye gets all better and root canal goes well!
ReplyDeleteHi Nonnie, Some times a gal has to whine. I am so very anxious to have that root canal over and I fear it may not be the only one I'll have. Maybe I should get one a month till there's not nerves left. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh Susie wow I feel so badly for you. Hope today goes so much better. It is always something!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Kris, I kind of wondered after I got to the drs. and the young dr. said how old is this machine...a hand held lamp (some what like a blue light) I think he should have said go see your eye dr. and not done anything himself. That's probably why he called me. LOL. Girl you are right, it is always something. I try my best to stay healthy...but rust sets in anyways. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThey put the wrong drops??? - - - what the- - - -. If you need the root canal, you need it, not instead of or rather, man - - -. I am getting second hand fits, just reading your post. No wonder there is so much litigation.
ReplyDeleteHope by now your eye is better.
You deserve big fluff. ( a small gift I always give my friends who have suffered for no reason ).
Munir, I truly felt like crying yesterday and was becoming a bit on edge...made it home before my top blew off. LOL. Both the G.P. and the eye doctors are really young...but when I got home I thought, Old and experienced sure does matter. :):) Young doc was to put in numbing drops and nurse brought him drops to dilate my eyes.Hmm?? One day Munir, I will be totally bald from tearing my own hair out. LOL I knew my blog family would understand some of my frustration. Thank you for the Big Fluff. :):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh, Susie! I'd whine, too! Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I wanted to really cry..but thought it might make my eye worse. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh my Susie, bless your heart, you did have it rough. I've had a root canal become...It wasn't that bad.
ReplyDeleteGet better real soon. We all need some one to listen to us at times.
Sylvia, I know the dentist want to be gentle and not hurt us...but I have a big fear of dentists. They will be drilling into a crown and I do not want to lose that. Hope you are doing well and enjoy your sweet porch. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOuchie....ouchie....I would prefer neither one! Your flowers are beautiful though. They tend to make us smile even through the hard times.
ReplyDeleteLouise, I really wanted to sit outside today...but it got a bit too warm and broght....my eye being dilated I did not need to be in the sun. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGood Grief! I can't imagine how awful that must have been. I like the flowers though.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol. I like the flowers better than the unknown and pain. :) I am hoping Monday goes well and I can relax some. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteAre you kidding. They could have damaged your eye. Geez. I hope this all goes away before your next appointment. Good luck with that. You need a little vacation after this.
ReplyDeleteDebby, That is exactly what I was thinking...you know it's not like they put an ointment on my pinky finger. LOL I was kind of upset when I got home. It's so hard to build a trust of new doctors. I miss my old dr. so much. Girl, you are right, I could stay a week on vacation. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteAren't you glad doctors never make mistakes. Ha! I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. And sorrier yet that you're having to have a root canal. :-(( I was eating salad the other night and a three-teeth bridge fell out into my salad (fortunately not visible when I smile), and my dentist is out until August 1, but that's just as well because I couldn't sit in his chair anyway. Isn't it fun!!! I sure hope you get over your eye issues soon and what a mystery it is, wondering what caused the problem in the first place. An allergy to a plant? an insect? Hope things get better, Susie. Really! xo
ReplyDeleteJudy, I only wanted them to tell me if it was pink eye....I sure didn't need two drs. and now bills. My root canal will be in a tooth that is in a bridge . So you know my stress. I do not want to lose that tooth. I think I may have gotten dirt or something from the flowers. But I am not taking chances, I'll stay away from people to see what happening with my eye. Blessings to you, hope you got help with that bridge. xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh Susie, I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that, and in one day! I'm not sure if it's pink eye, but it doesn't sound like it. With pink eye, the eye has drainage and is red and irritated (and I do think it's contagious). That's why your dentist said "stay away." Have you considered it's possibly allergies? You are out in the garden often with lots of flowers. Did an insect maybe bite you? hmmmmm, now I'm real curious. Be sure to let us know what you find out. And good luck with the root canal.....no fun.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you, Susie, and sending a big hug.
love, ~Sheri
ps have you heard of a sty in the eye? It's just something that people get sometimes, so maybe you can read about it.
Sheri, I thought of everything that could have happened. I may have gotten some dirt in my eye when I rubbed it , before washing my hands from gardening. Although that's the first thing I do when coming in the house. I look around my eye for any markings of bites. None. On line did say there's 3 types of pink eye, one from allergies, one is viral and then there's bacterial. But all are itchy, watery and will mat up in the night. I do not have those symptoms. I know what a sty is...our baby sitter used to tell me and my siblings you got them from peeing in alleys. LOL. Hope things are running smoothly there and you can enjoy your summer . It's almost too warm here. I am ready for lower temps. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie
Deletep.s. thanks for the hugs.:):)
RATS!! What a day you had Susie! Don't you just love when one doctor doesn't talk to the other ones? Such a merry-go-round. Good luck on the root canal, I have a real phobia about dentists so I would be in a real panic. LOL Hope your eye gets better fast.
ReplyDeleteJudy
Judy, I was surprised my BP wasn't off the map when the nurse took it. LOL. It was normal. Oh yes, I want that dental work over and done with. I think there's new code in doctoring...see how many drs. you can get involved and how many tests you can get done. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWow, what a story. Hope your eye is better now. Root canals these days are much improved over the ones I got years ago. Perhaps it won't be too bad. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I always pray for good outcomes. My eye is better right now...but still pinkish. it do not itch or water. I am ready to get the dental work over. :):) Hope you and Bob are getting some pleasant weather. It's a bit too warm here. I did water my plants again today. I do not know when rain may be here. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYou poor thing...I would have been a TAD upset!!
ReplyDeletewarmly,
deb
Deb, I was getting there...but got home just in time. Then I felt like crying..but thought better of that. Thought it would make my eye more red. LOL. Yes, sweet girl, one day I will be bald from tearing my own hair out. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteBecause my entire year so far, has rallied around doctor's visits, I must admit I am beginning to suffer from 'white coat anxiety', once you start going you can never stop :)
ReplyDeleteHope your eye gets well soon, there is nothing worse than a sore eye.
Hugs
~Jo
JO, I hated to read about your having to visit the drs. so much. I think they try to involve too many of their cronies . What ever happened to the old Doctor who could do it all. ? I used to have one when I was younger. Can you even believe the young doctor called me at my house this morning. I am wondering if he was worried about how they tended to my eye. Maybe making it worse. We just have to be brave and soon we will be well. I am praying for you and me too. :):) Blessings my friend, xoxo, Susie
DeleteDoes no one know what they are doing anymore? Praying that the root canal goes a whole lot better!
ReplyDeleteOh Vee, me too girl. I think the same...who really cares about their jobs any more...where's their pride? I was taught , if you have a job , do the best you can. What would be wrong with conferring with another doctor to get the right treatment for a patient? I am going to be fine soon. I just keep plugging along. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGracious Dow! You were put through the ringer. Hope it's not pink eye. Wonder if you came in contact with something while you were deadheading the flowers or sweeping the porch. Feel better and I for one would be dreading the mess out of a root canal. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I am thinking it's more of an allergy pink eye....it's not been watering or itching. Oh I really want the root canal over and done. :):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI feel for you and I know these things happen---look at these comments!
ReplyDeleteFeel better, dear.
Jane
Blondie, It's crazy what the medical people can do to us..and we pay them. LOL. I am so beyond ready for that root canal to be done. I just pray that takes care of the biggest part of my sensitivity. Blessings, xoxo, hope your trip is fun, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGood grief you poor lady! Sounds like me the last few months. I had to go to the eye Dr. and I still don't really know what I did. I think he said I scratched something. (he used some great big word) Anyway, a week without my contacts and putting drops in a few times a day and I was like new. HOWEVER, when my eyes were dilated a few years ago, it lasted for four or five days! I didn't think they were ever going to go back to normal. Now I always remind them to give me a low dose because they stay dilated too long on a regular dosage. Who knows why. They said fair skinned people with blue eyes are sometimes more sensitive to the drops. I've also been having teeth sensitivity problems, for the last several years, and just a couple of months ago I went to an Endodontist. He said I need a tooth capped but my dentist said I didn't! What's a person to do! I had a nightmare a couple of nights ago that my teeth were falling out!!!!
ReplyDeleteCindy Bee
Cindy, That is the real scary part...we trust the doctors. I just laid on the gerney and let that dr. plop that stuff in my eye as he was saying, "this will numb the eye, so I can put the dye into it." Then when he called me yesterday morning, he said the nurse gave him a dilater not the numbing agent ... he could have put my eye out..know what I mean. I wish more dentist had those 3-d x-ray technics in their offices. I have always taken care of my teeth...but I swear I could have a mouth full of implants and sparkling white teeth, for all the money I have invested in them. When do we say when. I know denture are not like real teeth for eating or hold the shapes to our faces. Cindy, I have always known that blue eyed people have night driving problems. ..from headlight glares. Hope you are doing well and the Shug is brand new. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie,
DeleteI NEVER knew that about blue eyed people having problems driving at night...and I've had problems driving at night from the headlight glares for YEARS!!! My Grandpa suggested I wear sunglasses, but it was too awkward! I mean, I was probably 17 when he suggested that...it's been that long! And this is the first I've heard it's blue eyed people! The things you learn!
And yes, it is scary that we trust them. I don't know when to say when. I guess we'll know when we've absolutely had enough. I am thinking about getting a new dentist and I've had this one for at least 30 years!
Cindy Bee
Cindy, You can check that out possibly on line or ask your eye dr. I heard that about blue eyes a long time ago. I have had my dentist since he got out of college..it's about 30 for me too.I just seem to be having too many problems for someone who gets their teeth cleaned and x-rayed every 6 months. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
Deleteyikes! no fun. hope youre eye and your tooth are soon no bother to you at all!
ReplyDeleteand I hope you have a lovely weekend.
xoxo
vivian
Thank you Vivian . I sure appreciate the good wishes. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
