This is my granddaughter Savannah and her mom(my daughter) Karen. I have to tell you the latest of Karen's medical mis-adventure. Karen decided to have a heart scan that was offered at 49 dollars, especially since there's heart disease in our family. The heart was good, the scan also showed a node in one of her lungs. The "Doctor" wanted a dye scan of it. So she had that done, then they said she needed a biopsy.
Monday morning Karen got admitted to the hospital. Gets hooked up to an IV. Then the doctor comes into her room and says , "I am not going to do the biopsy on such a small node, you need another scan."
Karen and her husband took off from work for this procedure . The IV was hooked up. What kind of doctor would do this to people. I can not help being up-set. My daughter will have to pay for all that hospital time and missed work too. The doctor said he wants to compared the scans. Why did he not do that from the start.? So she will have another scan...then go from there. I would be looking for a new doctor. Grrr.
Taking Emma to her other grandmothers for a few days visit . We did get around to a couple crafts. I'll show those later. Wishing all of you a fine day. XO
I would be irritated too, but I guess at least they didn't perform a possibly unneeded biopsy. I hope all turns out well. Gonna be a hot one here today.. I think Im headed to the lake! happy day!

Viv, I am glad they did not do the biopsy...especially that dr. It's just that the more she has to go thru, the less likely she will trust the drs. Have a great day at the lake. Hope there's breezes for you. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteMy family doctor is always irritated by "specialists". He feels they just don't think of how they treat people because they are too caught up in their own little specialized world. I'm so sorry for the anguish and cost your daughter went through. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteJenn, This could have all been avoided if the drs. would take with one another more. I think lots of testing is done to raise moneys for the hospitals. I want my daughter well . Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI am not surprised at this Susie! I am rather distressed at medical care these days. I do so hope and pray that there is nothing wrong. We shall think the best!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I spoke with my daughter today...she is not thrilled but a bit relieve that the dr. thought the node was to small to do a biopsy. He did an x-ray and wants the scan done in 3 months. Still much to go thru. Thank you for the prayers...I know that helps. I believe. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSorry this happened but it doesn't surprise me after all the doctors I've been through. All they got on their minds is that $$ sign and the next patient. I pray for a good outcome and good news. xo
ReplyDeleteSusie, I know that you have gone thru enough hoops . Some things take too long to find the truth of what is going on. I still pray , knowing God is in charge. It seems more tests get ordered to raise money for the hospitals. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI don't blame you for being upset but I was suspicious of that scan from the start, given how many false positives you get from those things. I don't know the circumstances so I'll just wish for a good outcome.
ReplyDeleteLinda, Karen will get another scan in 3 months...the dr, will compare them again. I am praying it's gone by then. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOne of the most frustrating things in life is "Doctors and Hospitals". Heaven knows we need them, but why are they more efficient. Heart goes out to you...been there felt this!!!
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs for your and your granddaughter.
Wanda, It is hard to have faith in our drs. when they do things that seem wrong to us. Thank you for the prayers. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI have noticed lately that insurance dictates the procedures. For example with an orthopedic doc. X-rays, then therapy, then cortisone , then Ct scan then surgery. Therapy is so expensive . Why not scan first.
ReplyDeleteIn your daughter's case it doesn't seem like there is a plan. To admit her then cancel the test. That's just weird. I hope they get to the bottom to what is going on soon.
Debby, Our insurance sent us a list of things to try before ever going to the drs. for back pain...isn't that just ridiculous? I just wish that done scan before hooking her into an IV. I spoke with Karen...she was not as mad as I was. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLots of fishy shenanigans going on these days with doctors and hospitals and all things medical. Don't get me started.
ReplyDeleteThe medical field is a costly expense. We need drs and hospitals but they put us off with this kind of craziness. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteIt is indeed very frustrating the hoops we jump through and still not have straight answers. I hope your granddaughter finds a good doctor she can trust and pray all their needs are met in the extra expenses.
ReplyDeleteNonnie, You know we do as they ask or tell us...then they do something like this ...it's infuriating. Karen is taking it in stride today. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGood grief, I would be mad too. Poor Karen and her husband! Wishing that she will find a good doctor who thinks of patients!
ReplyDeleteKay, My daughter and SIL need to work. They do not like to miss unless necessary.....then a dr. would do something like this..It's hard to even grasp. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat is absolutely ridiculous! I would be looking for a new doctor as well. I am thankful that she did not have the biopsy if it was not needed but they should have that decided before she got there.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol, I totally agree...and that is why my hair was on fire from getting upset. :)I am adding a bit to my next post. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, I am so sorry! I agree re: finding another Dr. I don't want to be negative but IF there should be something there, this Dr is prolonging the diagnosis. Wish I could give you and Karen a hug! I will hold you both in prayer and also pray for the right Dr.
ReplyDeleteLove & hugs,
Pat
Thank you so much Pat. Your comment is so sweet...it helps to know others understand and agree. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI am so sorry to hear what happened to Karen. Can I tell you something that may make you think a little differently?
ReplyDeleteIn 2008 I went into the hospital for a needle biopsy of a suspicious node in my right lung. It came back benign. Yes! But then my lung filled with fluid, a reaction to the invasion of the needle. I had a tube put in...very painful and was on morphine to the point of not knowing my name. My lung filled twice and I was intubated for over a week. It then collapsed and then I got pneumonia in the other lung. 3 freaking weeks and it took me 6 more weeks to be able to take a 15 minute walk.
I would suggest a second opinion. Surgery should be the last resort---anything can happen. Of course I wanted this to be checked out but I was not the perfect candidate for surgery and wish there had been a better alternative. Again, a second opinion.
I wish your dear girl all the best.
Jane
Blondie, You are right...I was upset the kids missed work when it could have been avoided. The dr. did tell my daughter there could be minor or even major side effects from a lung biopsy. I will give the dr. that. Sounds like you went thru hell getting yours. Some times the cures are as scary as what is going on with us. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThinking of Karen today, Susie, and wishing her well.
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
I guess even though it was distressing to get that far it's better to be cautious. It does seem strange that the doctor didn't already compare the scans but personally I'd rather not be cut open if it's not needed and or more than once. Praying that it will all turn out to be nothing of concern.
ReplyDeleteThank you Liz for the prayers. We all appreciate those. Yes, I am hoping once she gets the next scan, it's clear. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, I kept reading backwards through your posts to find out about your daughter. It is so hard to see your adult children go through these scares. God bless Karen and may everything be fine and God bless you as you are there to encourage her.
ReplyDeleteWaiting on test results is almost as hard as going through them.
Best to both of you,
Dewena
Thank you Dewena, for the good thoughts for our family. Karen will be getting her scan in about two months. Hopefully she will not need any biopsy. Blessings to you, Susie.p.s. I just saw this comment. :)
DeleteWhat an annoying waste of time and money; I hope your daughter will not need a biopsy after the second scan is taken.
ReplyDeleteTerra, Thank you, I am hoping Karen gets her scan , it will be a couple months from now...hope it's clear or that the node is shrinking. Most people are saying this is what they should have scheduled at the hospital , rather than a biopsy. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
